If you are looking for a no frills, budget type of accommodation, then this will do just fine. Stayed one night in a basic cabin, it was warm and dry with a comfortable bed. The hot showers had heaps of pressure, and the facilities were clean. A coat of paint is badly needed on the cabins, I'm sure they would...

We pulled into the park in a 6 berth camper van just after dark in the rain. The attendant was friendly, and provided easy instruction for how to access our camper pad. He literally said we would have to head through the bush to access the power. :-D It was through some bushes...so I guess that wasn't a bad description....

When we arrived noone was at the reception and no information when they will be back, There wasn't even a bell to ring for someone. As we did not wan't to go any further that day we just drove unto the campground and searched for a site to stay for one night. The campervan sites are big but the amenites...

Thanks for your feedback but on our reception door is a clear note stating that if no one is in the office you need to ring the bell on the right hand side of the door - above the key drop box. If you still cannot reach us there is also a mobile number that you can contact. The bell...

A great place for a quiet, relaxing holiday with lots to see and do in the neighbouring districts. Bush, river and mountain walks, hot pools, cycle trails, and more. Excellent supermarket and good eateries in Turangi, and Taupo is only 40 minutes away.

Travelling as a group of 4 this place was perfect for hiking the tongariro crossing. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. Remember to bring your own bedding as it's not provided. Just two sets bunkbeds in the huts with pillows. Huts can get pretty cold but a fan heater is provided and this was great! Everything you...

Easy to find and away from main road. Reception/check in located at entrance. Small accommodation huts packed close together. These small huts look sad, but they are in the process of doing these up. The main kitchen and lounge are ok, but look rather sad. The laundry was located in the centre of these small huts, very easy to use....

We were very disappointed with the standard of the accomodation at Turangi Kiwi Holiday Park. We had already stayed at several other Kiwi Parks and had come to expect a certain standard. Reception was fine and staff were very helpful. There were a cluster of individual huts that I took as being out of use......not so, this was our accomodation....

I'm sorry that this was experience but we are market the cabins as Basic Backpacker units and we are working hard to renovate our cabins and kitchen facilities. Almost done with the shower blocks and next will be the toilets. So please keep an eye on our facebook page to see how we are getting on

Stayed on campsite, had a private spot with electric hookup separated from neighbours by bushes/trees. Good very clean kitchen facilities with plenty of tables and chairs for eating both inside and out. Bathroom's looked clean and tidy, didn't stay long enough to try out the showers though, just an overnight stay on way home. Helpful chatty staff. Good location for...

Staff were very good at responding to my emails about arriving late at night. They left the key out for me with a map so I could easily find my cabin. The small cabin i booked was perfect for my needs, the bed was comfortable and it had a heater to keep the cold out.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is a historical campground. The original base for the 1950s power project, it was once home to hundreds of Italian workers who were involved in what was then the biggest engineering project in New Zealand. For the casual camper looking for a quiet spot away from the main road, here you'll find large, individually-hedged sites with plenty of lovely shady trees, each having a tap and a picnic table. Older-style, well-scrubbed amenities include a basic kitchen with lots of pans, crockery and cookware, ablutions with free curtained showers, a coin operated laundry, and a drying room available for a small charge. The covered deck off the kitchen is a beautiful spot to sit and eat your meal, and you can use the fish cleaning sink and outdoor BBQ s to cook up your catch of the day. Too tired to cook? Town is within walking distance for a takeaway or a meal. Working towards being an Eco friendly camp ground, there are ample recycling stations, a bin in the kitchen for your organic waste that goes to the worm farm, and a herb garden is also being established by the kitchen. Children have a couple of small play areas and plenty of room to run about, while on rainy days there is a large games room and guest lounge. Internet access and a dump station are also provided, and your dogs are welcome but by arrangement please. Charges are from $22 per person, children 5-14 from $10, and under five are free. Our cabins is very basic and have a bottom sheet, pillow and pillow cases. You need to bring your own bedding. You also need to use the communal kitchen and bathrooms. From $55 per cabin. Our Family cabin has a TV, fridge, small kitchenette with its own crockery and cutlery. You need to share the bathroom and kitchen with the other guests.Bring own linen. From $75 per cabin. Self-contained unit is beautiful and is our own mansion. From $120 per cabin. ... more   less
