Nestled between the mountains and the sea: After extensive travel across Europe we finally discovered a wonderful place to build Baglio Giammaccaro, the perfect balance between beautiful scenic views and the exhilarating natural environment. The Baglio is nestled between mountains and sea and located within the Monte Cofano Nature Reserve. Just a few kilometers from San Vito, Baglio Giammaccaro is ideally located for daily excursions and is an oasis of peace to come back to. At home in nature The Baglio is surrounded by a lush Mediterranean garden with fruit trees, olive groves, the vegetable garden and a small vineyard where guests can pick the seasonal produce. In the shade of the trees within sight of the sea, you can barbeque or bake your own delicious dinner in our traditional stone oven and eat outside as the sun sets over the Santa Margherita Bay. Relax in Sicilian style While staying at Baglio Giammaccaro you will enjoy the comforts of modern living whilst surrounded by beautiful architecture reminiscent of the different cultures that have left their respective marks on Sicily throughout the centuries. Antique furniture impeccably restored by local artisans and traditional Arab hand painted tiles are just some of the features revealing Sicily’s rich history that you can discover in every corner of the Baglio.

As we got in our car after a week at the Bagglio Giammaccaro on another incredibly beautiful day, I had that melancholic feeling that all travelers have when you leave a place that you will never forget- and you start scheming to get back as soon as you can. Happiness that the last week was filled with beautiful sights, sounds, tastes and smells…yet sad that the week was over. The sights: vibrant blue morning skies and the azure sea, the Milky Way, Venus and a billion stars overhead; the verdant garden filled with paths and horticultural wonders to discover; the pastel twilight sky over Cofano. Sounds: the gentle lullaby of grazing cow and sheep bells in the distance, silence only interrupted by the soar of a birds’ wings or a quiet laugh and a contented sigh from a happy travel companion, the breeze stirring the olive trees. Tastes: the strong dark espresso, the perfectly ripe peppers and figs from the garden; the local vino bianco enjoyed near the dark cooling pool in the early evening; the smells…of rosemary, olive trees, gardenia, jasmine…the incredible breakfast every morning…the scent of when the afternoon heat warms the cacti. Stefano and Joseph think of everything…. they have created a paradise for the senses that is ideal for a traveler who desires to escape the fray of city life and live fully and sensually. The quiet, luxurious and well-designed touches abound: linen sheets, privacy, multiple quiet areas in the garden to unwind and read, meditate, or do yoga, attention to detail in breakfast and hyper local sourcing of food provisions and assistance with dinner reservations in town. The integration of indoor and outdoor life is perfect. I slept deeply each night, and awoke each morning excited to explore this corner of Sicily from the Bagglio’s ideal location and fueled by Stefano’s espresso and breakfast- the natural reserves, Erice, Seggesta, the nearby and varied beaches…to end, the Bagglio Giammaccaro is…everything.

Though we just checked out, the afterglow from staying at Baglio Giammaccaro will last a good long while. In a jaw-droppingly beautiful valley, between rugged mountains and the sea, Stefano and Joseph have created an Edenic inn. The gardens are incredible -- cacti, olive trees, figs, trees imported from Africa, it goes on and on -- but the warm, personal hospitality is what makes Baglio Giammaccaro really unique. Every morning, Stefano exudes good cheer and humor, and by Day 2 you will already be sharing inside jokes. Breakfasts come in part from the garden - tomatoes, eggplants, melon - and are always delicious. The inn is situated quite perfectly -- a short drive to the excellent restaurants and amenities of San Vito lo Capo, while being far enough away from the sometimes overcrowded and touristy parts of S.V.L.C., as we came to call it. The Baglio is actually closer to the Cofano Nature Preserve, which is perfect for hikes, trail running, and sunbathing and snorkeling and swimming amongst the rocks and hidden coves. When we stayed, there was a mix of middle-aged couples, younger couples who might've been on honeymoon, and a family with quiet preteen kids -- all enjoying this deeply relaxing immersion in nature and the charms of Sicily. I could go on and on... it's the most beautiful place we've stayed.

Beautiful baglio on the coast between San Vito lo Capo and the natural reserve of Mount Cofano. You immediately see the attention to every detail in the place and in the service. Stefano and Joseph are impeccable and welcoming hosts who have created a place with a magical atmosphere where you can relax, have fun, immerse yourself in nature or visit the surrounding places. A B&B with boutique hotel standards, ideal for couples or group of friends, far enough from the most touristic areas, immersed in nature, yet the location still allows to visit the nearby area.

Baglio Giammaccaro is an oasis in a surrounding that is rocky and arid but also dramatic. That view on the Monte Cofano is just stunning every time of day but especially at sunset. Every evening we sat there in our private garden watching every shade of orange and purple behind that promontory. The B&B has secluded little gardens and patios laid out here and there with a botanist eye for plants and trees. There are I don't know how may different succulents but the winner was the ethiopian jasmine by the front entrance that enchanted us in the evening when we came back. Stefano and Joseph did everything to make us feel at home, from booking restaurants to pointing out the best beaches to organising a boat trip to the Riserva dello Zingaro. At breakfast Stefano serves a.o. seasonal fruit and all kinds of home baked cakes under a porch with a view to the garden: a very relaxing start of the day. We loved the fact that bikes are provided that you can ride to the beach: our favourite was Spiaggia Santa Margherita (Mácari Beach). And then there is a massage therapist, the very friendly and professional Michele visits the resort several times a week. What else to say? A very relaxing 13 days in September between one lock-down and another. Oh and I forgot to mention the embroidered bed linnen, which was really linnen, ideal in summer.

This place is magical! We spent a week here in October and had the most relaxing and beautiful holiday. Stefano and Joseph have created a stunning house and garden, the views are extraordinary, indeed everything is impeccable; it also feels homely and comfortable and they offer friendly advice and help with anything you need. There is a great choice of attractions nearby so lots to keep you entertained (beaches, boat trips, villages etc), though it is hard to leave the hotel! Stefano cooks a wonderful breakfast every morning too. Extremely highly recommended. We'd love to visit again!
