Where to start to thank you, it’s hard to know the right words as my words will not do it justice.

From every email and call to our arrival and our departure you made our trip special. From the bottom of my heart we had a superb time, meeting us upon the coach arriving, the rooms (yes we loved ours, special moment), our superb meal on Saturday night, the Craic in the bar. A wonderful breakfast, holding our bags, arranging the vouchers, our departure… WOW… thank you …& You are Silken Thomas.. You Beata are the reason our trip was beyond my dreams.. so thank you for everything and making everything wonderful.

Until we meet again

I stayed at the silken thomas with two friends recently and I must praise this hotel to the high heavens. The receptionists were ever so welcoming. Food was delicious, room was spotless and restaurant/bar/hotel staff were so friendly and accommodating. I have never felt more welcome in a hotel. No request was a hassle or a silly one. The silken accommodated us very well. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Kildare as it is a top tier hotel for a reasonable price.

We stayed here for one night on Easter Sunday last. As soon as we arrived we were given a warm welcome. We were brought to our room by a member of staff, she was so chatty and friendly that we already felt at home. The room was a Family sized room which was huge (two singles and a double) It was spotless, everything looked brand new and it was so warm and comfortable as well. The bed was so comfortable and the toilet/shower was immaculate. We didn't have time to eat there as we were at a house party in the area, but the restaurant was full when we got there and we heard nothing but good reports about the food from the locals. We had drinks in the bar that night and it was nice and relaxing with a band playing. We will definitely be back to this wonderful hotel very soon. 10/10

I recently stayed In a group of 3 at this hotel on arrival the gentleman at check in was incredibly rude to me and insulting. The man mentioned that the room was non smoking which was not an issue as I am a non smoker. The man continued to add that he would ‘catch me’ when I am caught smoking. The man then continued to belittle me and insinuated that I would as a young girl get a ‘chipper’ rather than restaurant food as it was more in my budget. When bringing my bags in from the car the man again grunted that ‘ I will be caught smoking’. The next day after check out I headed to Kildare village and returned to the hotel to collect my belongings and had a meal. Here again I was reminded me in a very degrading tone , in front of an audience, that I would be ‘caught’ smoking.I feel the manner I was spoken to was highly unprofessionally and very inappropriate. I recently phoned the hotel to address my concern and I spoke to the duty manager who claimed that he could not see my issue and again spoke very unprofessionally to me on the phone. I explained to the manager that I was leaving my feedback as I would not like this to happen another guest he insinuated that I was lying and claimed he did not care. I really would not recommend this hotel especially as a young girl as I was highly insulted and made feel very comfortable. As a business owner myself I am disgusted at the customer service received at this hotel.

Silken Thomas proved the perfect spot for our night’s stopover.
Ideally located in the lovely town of Kildare and parking in the secure free car park, it’s only a short walk to the Kildare Village if shopping is on the agenda.
The first thing that strikes you on entering is the excellent COVID measures that have been implemented with an effective one way system in operation and the staff, who were all excellent throughout our stay were kitted out with visors.
Our room was located in the recently refurbished Postmasters House which is across the road from the main complex and was at the rear so no issues with road noise which I suspect could be an issue if your room was at the front. Very well appointed with everything we needed and a good shower which always gets points from us. The bed was very comfortable.
We booked a table for dinner and for a Wednesday evening, we were glad we did, all 3 dining areas were busy (but socially distanced). Both meals, chicken burger and goats cheese salad were excellent. Breakfast the next morning was equally as good, the full Irish being a perfect way to start the day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Silken Thomas but will certainly be back.

This is our second stay at The Silken Thomas. We stayed in a family room, the very same room as last time we were here. The layout of the room is quite quirky, a queen sized bed, above is a single bunk and another single bed to the side with some privacy which is great for a teenager. There was a tea/coffee tray and condiments. The room was spotlessly clean.

The bathroom was also spotlessly clean with a bath and shower, shampoo, soap and towels.

There's a hairdryer and iron/ironing board in the room along with a TV and safe.

The car park is free and secure due to a barrier in and out.

The standards are high and the staff are kind and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.

We had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant, see the reviews, you won't be disappointed.

My friend booked this accommodation as we were travelling from England to visit a friend who lives in cork ( half way travel for both of us ) our friend picked us up at the airport and drove us down to Kildare check in was easy and fast with free secure parking for guests ( general public have to pay) we were made welcome by the owner and shown to our room. There's a selection of rooms out the back if the pub and ours was in the old postmasters house across the road. Our room was made up of one double bed and two single beds ( I chose the top bunk which was fun ) The room was very clean and spotless as was the bathroom. They provided a kettle with tea and coffee etc towels hairdryer and iron and ironing board. We went out for the day to come back to find housekeeping and had cleaned our room left fresh towels etc. We also are at the pub which is across the road and part of the accommodation, The food was lovely and very filling. Service was top notch and the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you, we enjoyed the food so much we ate there again on the second night of our stay. It's a lovely restaurant and pub and a very convenient location and they had live for the music on both nights we were there. For being right next to the pub there wasn't any noise from the people at closing time. Our room was facing the main road so there was some noise from the traffic but this didn't bother us. Overall it was a brilliant stay and I highly recommend this place. Staff food and accommodation all in one place you can't go wrong. Hope to be back again.

The hotel is separate from the restaurant and B&B which was nice as it was very quiet. The hotel accommodation is located across the road from the main building in the “Post Masters House”. There is free car parking for guests, and you’re given access codes to use for the duration of your stay.

Upon arrival, it was a little confusing to find reception due to the check in deck being within the bar area. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, being considerate of the covid 19 guidelines. One way systems are in place and there are plenty of sanitising stations.

The rooms are very well designed and seemed to be quite new. We stayed in a triple room which offered a double and a single. The single bed was very interesting. It was similar to a bunk bed, however, it had fixed stairs which led up to just above the double bed. It was all very well designed and a great way to maximise room space.

While this bedding arrangement was very good and looked great, it naturally lacked space, ie, headroom. Once lying in the bed, space was plentiful, that’s if you didn’t move during the night. I am only 5ft 5, and while length was more than enough, width was a slight issue as every time I turned, I either hit the metal bar or nudged the wooden surround. I feel this design was more designed for kids as an adult will find it quite tight at times. Other than that, the bed itself was very comfy and it had a reading lamp fitted beside for additional lighting.

Generally, the room was good. Clean, tidy and offering the basic necessities needed. The bathroom was big and very clean.
