Stayed here for 4 nights while visiting ill relative and was very welcoming. Given a lovely comfortable room and felt at home immediately. Good breakfast and lots going on if you wanted it (dances, music etc.). Good base for exploring all the delights of northern Donegal.
Overnight stay with my husband on 27th February. Check in was quick with very friendly staff. Room available early and it was lovely, spacious and very clean. Wifi was excellent. Meal in hotel tasty and presentation was impressive. We couldn't have been looked after any better by Natasha and Christopher. Good selection at breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
Four of us stayed here for three nights in February and it was a relaxing and comfortable time. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who gave us vouchers for a dance on one of the nights which we really enjoyed. The staff are this hotel's biggest assets being so pleasant and helpful. We all agreed that we will return in the summer to experience more of Donegal. The rooms are very spacious and have all the amenities of a modern hotel. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and service was brilliant.
Being served bland food was not a big issue in itself, but I am quite shocked at the behaviour of the staff. I ordered the Hawaiian pizza. I adore fresh pineapple and after reading the description on the menu I did not hesitate to make my choice. When it arrived it appeared to be tinned pineapple rather than fresh and also had the flavour of tinned pineapple. I had been travelling all day to see my mother and was enjoying treating her to a night out so I didn't wish to cause a fuss. However, when asked by a waitress if everything was okay (not having had the menu to hand at this point and curiously wondering if I had only imagined it said fresh) I couldn't help but ask if it was meant to be fresh pineapple as I thought it had said this on the menu. She said she was not sure and would ask the chef, but I reassured her it was okay and asked her not to bother. Despite this, she returned and informed me that the chef said it was fresh. I had eaten a fair portion of it as I'd hardly eaten all day and was very hungry. I normally clean my plate but didn't on this occasion, and again was asked if everything was okay when the plates were about to be cleared. Again, not wanting to draw attention, I said it was okay with my tone clearly betraying my irritation at having been lied to. Another male staff member, presumably a manager, then came over. I explained it was clearly a ring of tinned pineapple (as per the photograph) and he agreed it was out of a tin, but tried to explain that it was freshly out of a can. I shudder to think that a restaurant has to specify on their menu that tinned goods have not been left open to go off! He apologised and asked if I wanted him to take money off the bill. I said it was fine (as we really just wanted to leave at this point) and he said it clearly was not fine. He offered to give me another drink; I had a non alcoholic beer to accompany my pizza as I was driving, so another drink was not in any way tempting, even if the atmosphere had not been completely dampened at this point. He asked if I wanted anything else; I replied that I really just wanted to go. The bill came with no discount; interestingly, I was ignored when asking the waitress not to speak to the chef, but listened to when I said it was okay to leave the bill as it was. It took a long time to arrive -their service was generally a bit slow, but this wouldn't have bothered me apart from the circumstances. Finally, nobody came to give our change until we asked. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend!…
