The whole hotel has a distinctly historic atmosphere. Rooms are spacious and very quiet. The dinner was very good, cooked by the owners and made of local products. It is well situated in the mid of the region, so it is a good starting point for hiking or day trips.

We recently stayed at this hotel for three nights. It's a beautiful, lovingly designed, intimate hotel which is perfectly located for touring in the zagoria area. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, offering useful information and tips about the surrounding area. The room was large, clean, and comfortable with a lovely view. Every evening we ate in the dining room...

The Hotel Porfyron has been meticulously and beautifully restored and is one of the most stunningly unique buildings in the area. We stayed in a gorgeous, ground floor room that was comfortable and light. We were also given a tour of the other rooms as there weren't many other guests at the time, and all the rooms are uniquely and...

Central heating that turns on and off every hour. We were cold in cycles all night, we were unable to sleep. You can hear the tenants of the next rooms talking all night, so on top of it we were unable to sleep because of that. At the least of the concerns, no internet in the rooms.

It is such a nice place. It is not very easy to reach there but it completely worth it. I am really looking forward to being there back. It was like being at home. But it is a kind of nowhere. Rooms are very nicely furnished. Breakfast was great. The village is a little gem.

I booked a particular room in Hotel Porfyron a month in advance. I booked it directly through an email, and was asked immediately for one night deposit (90 euro) , which I sent together with my wishes for the type of a room, I chose. Madame Rita has not confirmed directly that I will recieve Stouros room , but she...

This very nice hotel is situated in the small village Ano Pedina, close to the impressive Vikos gorge and other traditional villages such as Kipi and Konitsa with old stone bridges along beautiful cold water streams. For years, we already come to photograph the butterflies and plants of this area. Rita and Yannis recommended many new spots and their risotto...

The other reviews say it all but I would just like to encourage all you English travellers to go and find this beautiful place, a gem of a hotel in Zagoria. Rita and Yiannis are truly wonderful hosts and the traditional Greek food is fabulous.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a historic building full of charm and character. Rita (who is Dutch but fluent both in Greek and English) and her husband Giannis create the perfect ambience in the sitting area where you can enjoy roaring fires, great meals prepared by chef Giannis and herbal teas made by...

Hotel Porfyron, my husband and I fully recommend. Yianni and Rita are such lovely hosts, and their food preparations are delicious; and they prepare a lovely breakfast. While there, they have special activities visitors can take advantage of, my husband have done this, and were so very happy with the results. My husband learned how to loom a small carpet,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A fabulous old mansion converted into a beautiful boutique hotel very centrally placed to explore the Zagori region. Exquisitely decorated and furnished with antiques and set in a glorious, perfectly tended garden. Excellent breakfasts and dinners cooked expertly using locally sourced produce. Breakfast is substantial and can include yogurt and fresh fruit, cheeses, pancakes, a selection of bread and homemade cakes. They cater splendidly for vegetarians. The dining room/bar is very comfortable and has two huge sofas to relax in before and/or after dinner. The owners, Rita who is Dutch and Yannis who is Greek go out of their way to make you feel welcome and provide you with information in order to get the best from your stay in the area. I can't recommend this place highly enough. ... more   less
