After being here many times before we now arrived here after a long biking trip in the pouring rain. Again we found a very warm welcome. The owners helped us with al the wet stuff, fed us a wonderful meal and gave us that genuine feeling of a home away from home. This place is still going strong.

Excellent German Cuisine. The salad was made fresh (the turnip was amazing) and the jaegerschnitzel was-just perfect. The spatzle was also fresh and hand made. A beautiful quiet spot with the forest in the background..We will be back

Landgasthof Waldhorn is a typical family run country inn located in the historic Murg Valley in the northern Black Forest. The hotel is simple (two stars), but perfectly adequate if you are not looking for 4 star frills. The decor is a little bit dated perhaps, but rooms are clean and comfortable. I stayed alone in a twin room, which was fine. With two people it might have been a little cramped. The owners are very friendly, helpful and welcoming and the food in the restaurant is excellent value - a varied menu with dishes prepared from fresh local ingredients. This is a perfect spot for people doing the Westweg (Westway) long distance route, as it is almost right on the trail. Murg Valley is quite noisy as it is very narrow and there is quite a lot of traffic going through it, but even so, at the hotel the noise level was average. They offer luggage transfers for people doing the Westway (at an extra charge). WIFI is available.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in this very charming hotel on Saturday. We wanted to spend a day hiking in the black forest. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible but this really is a wonderful place to stay. Dinner was great and affordable. Breakfast was wonderful with lots of food choices. The lady that took care of us was so helpful, she even gave us a ticket to ride the bus or train for free to Freudenstadt. Rooms are big, beds were comfortable and it's just such a welcoming charming place. I'd definitely stay here again.

Just had our second stay at the Waldhorn and the overall experience was excellent. This is a family-run hotel that caters for bikers, cyclists walkers and general travellers like me. The owners are extremely friendly (and recognised us as returning guests). The husband and wife speak basic English whilst the daughter speaks good English. Has it's own, free parking area for bilkes and cycles (garaged) and a free car park for cars at rear of the hotel. Rooms are very clean and well furnished and the food is very good value. Breakfast is typical German buffet (eggs, ham, sausage, cheese selection of bread) , plus yoghurt, cereals, fruit. Has an a la carte menu for dinner (looked very good), but we had the half-board option (excellent value), which gives a set three course meal (soup, main and desert). What it lacks in choice is more than made up for in quality (over three nights we had chicken, trout and beef as the main course - all very tasty. While in the Black Forest we went by train and bus to Baden Baden (worth a visit) and when I asked the owners about the times and cost of the trains, they produced a form that when completed (very easy) they gave us a travel pass that allowed free travel in the local trains & buses. It is a pleasure to use such a friendly well run and clean hotel and would recommend others to use it too.
