Very relaxing stay and a short 100 meter walk to the beach. Clean and simple and a great value that close to the beach. Includes a typical Tico breakfeast and they have a locked storage facility for surf boards. They also have an onsite surf rental and surf lessons facility.
Mamma Rosa is a fantastic place to say in Guiones if you're looking for basic accommodation. There are other hotels in town with fancy pools and bars, but they cost twice if not three times as much. The staff is incredibly friendly and accomodating, and will even help arrange transport to and from the airport or other destinations. The rooms are clean and there is daily maid service. There is air-conditioning as well as ceiling fans and there is a good breakfast served every morning. Directly across the road is a short path to the beach, and the main street of the town is maybe 5-10 minutes walk. Wi-fi is a bit dodgy but it always worked. Unless you need lots of amenities, like a pool or on-site bar or television, Mama Rosa is a great place to stay. I would happily return and recommend this to anyone.…
Location is awesome! The staff was really nice. Needs more options for breakfast. The room/appartement is super nice from outside balcony and chairs, a must! But it need a bit of love inside the decorations is a bit outdated!
I stayed here just one night and that was enough. The rooms are very basic with minimal security (the door hardly locks and the windows weren't secured), the street in front was completely flooded so it was hard simply getting to the hotel (either from the main road or the beach), esp if you were walking. We heard afterwards it's not even really an official street so access is very compromised. I found the reception welcome in the evening quite cold and impersonal. The breakfast next morning was ok but nothing special. We felt the place was left a bit to crumble and didn't see the owner investing or caring much. I wouldn't stay there again, in fact there were hardly any other guests.
My son and i just came back from surf trip. We liked the location of Mamma Rosa for getting to the beach. This area has gotten expensive, and i wanted something close to surf without breaking the bank. We did not need a TV. We did not need a pool. We just wanted a decent room to sleep, with AC, and hot showers. We got that. There is also a nice breakfast 7:30-9:30 in the morning. One thing they do need to improve is the Wifi in the rooms. It is not good. If you need to e mail or do something online, you will get much better wifi by the office. The staff was fine. Our room got cleaned everyday. One day our toilet wasnt working, and they dealt with it right away. Some rooms i guess have small kitchens? Our room did not. It did have a small fridge
