This place is in a magical location. Just amazing views of the nearby beaches, the Pacific and the sunset. We only came here for drinks and sunset but I would recommend this spot to anyone. The place has an atmosphere of luxury but is still laid back and friendly. My friends enjoyed their alcohol beverages and I had a nice club soda concoction. Stunning spot!
Where should we celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary? In early 2019, we reached out to friends who frequently visit Costa Rica. The resounding response was Nosara. These friends annually vacation with the Harmony Hotel. We booked our trip and couldn't wait. As the summer approached, the hotel decided to close for the "green" season and work on repairs. As a result, we landed at Lagarta Lodge. It was meant to be - they graciously provided a beautiful and spacious room & balcony overlooking the river, ocean, pools and nature preserve. Early morning bird watching and evening sunsets. Delicious food and a friendly staff - William was our favorite host. The roads make the Nosara adventure even more fun - especially as the driver. I expected to spend rainy afternoons reading on the porch but there was little rain and lots of hours to spend outside. The Lagarta Lodge is a lovely spot. …
Great property, room was fine. Would leave a better review but very disappointed when checking out to be pressured into signing back-dated room charges. Several had been paid in cash but then also charged to the room. We suspect the cash was being pocketed because hard to understand the insistence to sign charge to room after cash payment. We saw several others arguing or confused as to why they needed to sign charges when they had paid cash as well (in one case a waiter showed up at our hotel door late at night demanding restaurant charges to be “signed for”). Good property, just check your bill. Disappointing because we were going out of our way to be generous knowing the struggles of industry in CV19 - and I still would have given property benefit of doubt but restaurant manager all but admitted something shady was going on when I showed him the receipt with “paid in cash” written on it and then his wait staff showed up with copy that was a room charge. You have a nice property, people are generous by nature - no need to scam them. Hope 2021 is better.…
Simply stunning. These are the only words that come to mind when I think back to our Lagarta Lodge getaway earlier in this unconventional year. The sunset views from Chirriboca Restaurant imprint on your very psyche! Colors, reflected upon a perfectly-placed pool and an expansive ocean backdrop. All while enjoying a perfect dinner and a perfect glass of wine. We look forward to returning... hopefully by the end of 2020!
Stayed at Lagarta Lodge in Feb 2020 with 2 kids (10 and 7). The place is great. It was a bit hectic on check in, there were lots of people there and the teeth chattering drive we were on had some nerves on high, but that was pretty much the worst part. The rooms are great, we had 2 beds and it was plenty of room for us. We had a great view of the nature reserve and ocean and spent lots of time on the balcony early in the morning or at night when the kids were asleep. The staff at the Lodge are excellent - super friendly. The remembered them at every meal and greeted them by name. Because our kids our young, we didn't really have the ability to go our for dinners or night life, so we stayed at the hotel for all our meals and it was great. The pools are great - very warm - wished they were a bit cooler. We went for daily runs down in the reserve area which was awesome - mornings were cooler and it was fun winding around the trails, bamboo and other trees. We'd walk down to the beach, it was about 10-15 mins and it was totally dead. We'd take boogie boards and have fun down in the surf. We walked to the larger beach at Playa Guiones and took the shuttle home, but after doing that once we decided to take the shuttle there and back (far for the kids). There's a great beach bar for food at Playa Guiones and a taco place farther into town from the beach, fun to hit for lunch. Great place, they treat you well, the views are magical - especially the sunsets. You can't lose.…
