Beautiful, marble built hotel, high cathedral ceilings. Tiny TV and A/C, no phones in room. Friendly staff.

The only road into VB is through a low point that becomes a lake 1-2 meters deep when it rains. Have been held prisoner here for two days, unable to get in or out in our van. Water is now almost waist deep and not even those big *ss SUVs can get through without flooding.

Owner spent a fortune on Romblon marble, but cant build a road to get in and out. SMH

We were a 12-person group celebrating my boyfriend's 85-year-old grandfather's birthday, all the way from Manila. We stayed in the executive villa for 2 nights, thinking Villas Buenavista would be a good venue for a quiet staycation with friends and family by the sea.

In the morning after our first night, I went to the poolside, where 5 other people from our group were already swimming and lounging. The restaurant area, which connects to the poolside, had some comfortable wooden loungers that I thought would be more suitable for their grandfather to read his morning paper on. Seeing that our group was out by the pool, I motioned to lift the wooden lounger out of the restaurant area (a couple of feet away) -- but was stopped by a woman that was seated with her family nearby. "The furniture stays inside!" she snapped loudly and sternly and started shaking her head, making hand gestures. It was very condescending and rude. When one of my companions asked if they owned the resort, the group pretended to be deaf. I settled for some cheap plastic furniture to seat my boyfriend's grandfather, and the rude family continued with their breakfast, pretending now to be blind. The staff later confirmed that the woman and the rest of the people on the table were the owners of Villas Buenavista.

When we finally checked out, I heard that "someone" had gone up to one of our guests, who was staying at another room separate from the villa, to apologize for their rude behavior. They didn't apologize to the grandfather, or anyone in my boyfriend's immediate family, or myself. I understand if the furniture stays inside, but there were other ways for that woman to have reacted. Of course, since there is no phone to the front desk, even if you're staying at the executive villa, we didn't get a call to acknowledge the incident either.

All in all, the stay left a bad taste in our mouths. I would NOT recommend Villas Buenavista. The family that owns it looks absolutely hassled that they have to have people coming to stay at the resort, using their facilities, and availing of their lackluster breakfast and service. You won't find the signature hospitality of La Union in this place. Choose somewhere else to stay.

The place looks like a cathedral in the desert with its two-story-high marble buildings. The rooms are large and with high ceiling, the finishing is not up to the level of the building, with small aircon and bathrooms facilities below par.
It has a beautiful pool but it's often infested by water fleas.
The bar and restaurant have a lot of room to improve.
The whole hotel is beautiful but lack of plants and trees.
Security seems a bit insufficient. Seems to me that it's more dedicated to weekend local tourism than another kind of business.
Hanson the manager is very kind, professional and accomodating.

We were placed in Room 208. It's the room literally closest to the pool (which I did request when I booked the room) and close to the restaurant. In the room is one queen bed, one single bed, one standing armoire, flat screen TV (you can bring your external HD if you are not a fan of Cable TV - limited channels though), a dresser, one armchair, electric kettle, two small mugs, complimentary bottled water and 3-in-1 coffee with creamer, complimentary toiletries, BATHTUB, and towels in the bathroom. It may get a bit noisy in the room if they are having a live band performance in the restaurant or if other hotel guests rev-up their cars/motorycles or if your neighbor decide to slam their doors. And some of the sheets have small rips and holes (Maybe it got caught in the laundry wire or something?). I guess, nobody in the staff have the basic darning/sewing skills. The sheets and the towels are fresh and clean, though.

Small things/Minor details that would have made the room better:
1. No trash can in the room, but they have one in the bathroom - still, a trash can in the bed room is a must.
2. One chair in the room, good Two chairs in the room? Better. It can be an armchair or just a simple chair.
3. Better drainage in the bathroom or one/two extra rugs in the bathroom.
4. No Hotel Bible. I'm not a religious person but it's just basic.

Food is heavenly! Again, this is subjective. It's a bit salty on my part but I can be forgiving when my aim to travel is to unwind. The prices are a tad high but the servings speak for the price.
Aside from one moment (during breakfast) where the wait staff just gave my friends the menu and asked "Ano po ang order ninyo?" without giving them a second to look at the menu (Seriously, you just gave them the menu. Can you at least give them a minute or two to think about what they want for breakfast? Given that my friends are not really human without their morning coffee yet, good thing they were civil enough not to have her for breakfast.), everything was grand. Oh, and if you decide to charge your restaurant bill to your room and just pay everything during check-out, make sure to double check your restaurant bill. The front desk will help you with that.

I booked for a one night stay by calling the hotel (for 3 people). I was offered the Standard Room or Supreme Room. I asked which room is closer to the pool and I was told that it would be the Supreme Room. I booked the suggested room and I asked if I can have an extra mattress for my friend. And the reservation clerk told me that there would be no need for an extra mattress because the room has One Queen Bed and One Single Bed (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))

If you are going to have an early check-in, please inform the Front Desk or call/SMS ahead. Check-out time is 12 noon, and Check-in is 2:00 PM. So, give them time to freshen your room. I think you can while away the time in their hotel restaurant or by the beach. Early check-out is possible, IF the next guests of your room are amiable to wait for you to check out. They charge extra (per hour) for the late check out. When you check-out and you do not have a car with you, the hotel can call a tricycle for you to drop you off to the nearest bus station.

The hotel is located close to the main highway. Since I live in Baguio, it's easy to go to La Union. We rode the PARTAS bus going to Northern Luzon and we asked the conductor to drop us off at San Juan Plaza/Center. From there, you can hail a tricycle and just tell the driver you are going to Villas Buenavista (less than 5 minute travel).

I was able to unwind and relax. And I will certainly return.

This all-marble plated property is located bit far from the main stage- San Juan beach. They propose to stay either in the rooms or the villas (2 level elegant villas is a good option!). There are more Pilipino guests, rather than foreigners. Usually, there are crowds on the weekends, so better to book and stay here during weekdays. San Juan beach with its surfing facilities is in 10 mins ride by tricycle (50 Pesos for 3-4 pax). There is also a public market nearby, where it is possible to buy the fruits, veggies or even a live native chicken for your soup. The beach itself is not remarkable. There is a big pool and very good restaurant. The restaurant has a wide range of delicious Pilipino meals, the portions are rather generous. The service is quite good- the employees tried to help us in any matter.
