This WOULD have been our FOURTH stay. This time, we had booked the DOUBLE room with lateral sea view and balcony. When we were given the key we found out that the room had NO double bed but twin beds. We went back to the reception and after waiting a very long time we were told that we could have a double bed for 15€ per night extra in a renovated room (we come here for three years and there are no renovated rooms) or a smaller room with pool view (we know this type of room and the view is not nice as it overlooks a lot of buildings and has a city view) or another smaller room (in this room you could hardly swing a cat around and the double bed was a large bed for one person). I informed Rosie, the front desk manager that we were not happy with the options and because this would have been our fourth time we asked if we could have a free “upgrade” instead of having to pay 15€ per night. With a grin on her face she asked us why she would give us a free upgrade. Why not we asked. Without any response. We asked for the general manager whom we saw 10 minutes before walking around. He now wasn’t there. We then also found out that the hotel is not open for lunch or dinner. It was then that we asked for a cancellation. That was no problem. HOWEVER, because we both worked in the travel industry we know that the hotel specifically needs to agree to a free cancellation. Booking.com was phoned and the customer service agent was informed that the cancellation was free of charge. This is a very important step as many people leave the hotel, thinking the reservation is cancelled free of charge because it is said so, and it is not. Any hotel can already make room allocations before a guest arrives. And we especially asked for a double room. It left a bitter taste. 4 hours of travel, toll plus petrol for the road later we ended up in Meliá Hotel Terramar in Sitges. A lovely room with extra king size bed, 4 fully serviced restaurants, ample free parking, very friendly staff. What else to wish for. As you understand we will NEVER go back to hotel Aromar.

We completed the check-in the day prior to arrival as instructed and were offered the Jr Suite on the first floor or the 4th. We were told that the one we choose (the 4th floor) would be available after 2pm, but we could wait at the pool. With COVID-19, things were supposed to be planned. When we got there, they had bumped us into the first floor and allowed the other guest to stay late for free. They wanted us to unpack stay 1 night in the first floor, then move up to the 4th floor. I had already re-packed the suitcases when we were told to wait at the pool the day before. Why would I want to unpack and pack up again? When we complained we were given a smaller room to wait in. This room was NOT treated with the protocols for COVID. There was a stain on the bathroom door (god only knows what is was)- see photo- the remote wasn’t bagged, the balcony was full of broken glass and cigarette butts. It was DISGUSTING and even more so with the situation we are in. After waiting and waiting for the room we had reserved to be ready...and no phone call. My husband went to speak with the director. I feel like the director should have come out after the desk clerk POL had to keep going back and ask her questions. As an apology she sent a bottle of cava (I asked for it) to the room, but to be honest, it still felt like very little as we had paid more than 300€/night. How much is a ruined day of a 3 night trip worth? I feel like we should have been given a prorated price on the room for the first night. The next day we found that the coffee cups were dirty from the people who had been in the room before us. The cleaning woman who took care of the room that day was lovely and took them and disinfected them with bleach. Why wouldn’t the hotel (supposedly certified as safe travel) have switched to disponible paper coffee cups? I saw another person complained about how stingy they were with coffee capsules and shampoos and I’d totally agree. In the end, we went to the supermarket and bought our own by that point we were SICK of complaining. It’s our vacation, we should have to tell you how to treat guests! Sadly, the (blonde)woman who cleaned our room the day before checkout wasn’t wearing her mask when we popped back to the room! When we asked her to please put on her mask on, she told us not to worry because she put a spray on the beds. Again, safe travel certified. Oh please! Spray all you want but if you breathe on top of what you cleaned, then it’s all for nothing. I feel bad for the cleaning ladies, they were sweating and it’s hard work doing physical labor with a mask. The other woman who cleaned the room the first day kept her mask on. She told me she was hot and uncomfortable, but didn’t want to get anyone sick and she herself didn’t want to get sick. In my opinion, the director should have been on top of this and given the employees breaks so that they can do their job properly without putting the guests at risk. She should do spot checks on the employees. The room itself- once we finally checked in late evening-was lovely (just like the photos) and the pool boy did a nice job trying to stay on top of disinfecting the chairs. The breakfast was nice and the restaurant staff was friendly. Plus we could sit outside (a safer choice with COVID). Parking was a disaster, as we had to park 15m away, but at least we were able to use the 10m parking in the morning to pack up and go otherwise it would have been a nightmare. In conclusion, I doubt we’ll go back to this hotel if we go back to Platja D’Aro.

Regarding check-in, we are very sorry about what happened, that you had to wait until the afternoon to enter the junior suite on the 4th floor. When you arrived there was a junior suite available for you on the 1st floor, but you insisted on the junior suite on the 4th floor. The previous customers in that room had requested late check-out, paying the usual supplement, not free. We provided you with a courtesy room on the first floor, so that you did not have to wait in the hall or by the pool. When the junior suite on the 4th floor was available, the reception staff carried the suitcases to the room. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have passed an audit of covid security measurements and have been awarded a covid safe certificate. We follow the protocols every day to ensure the safety of our clients and staff, our number one priority. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another occasion in the future. Wow had the most amazing 3 nights celebrating our 20 year wedding anniversary Our panoramic room was amazing with incredible sea views & fabulous see thru shower in the bedroom! Lovely friendly staff & hotel scrupulously clean Great breakfast & evening buffet Good choices on both Pet friendly which was fabulous for our 15 year old yorkie boy Alfie 🐕Can't wait to return 😁

We have just arrived back from Hotel Aromar and had a superb stay! The hotel was recently refurbished and it looks fantastic. (It is important to know that there is the hotel with rooms-i think all of them with sea view and next to the hotel, there is a building with apartments that haven’t been refurbished yet) The location is superb, right on the beach and a few minutes walk from the main street. We had ate at the restaurant almost every day, and the food was excellent quality, wide variety and we couldn’t get bored of it even after a week. Staff is really attentive, special thanks to Antonio at the bar and Camelia at the restaurant to make our stay special. The only disadvantage is the limited parking option, which is a common issue among the hotels at the beach of Platja D’aro, however i heard they are working on a solution.

We stayed one night and enjoyed the personalized, helpful service from the staff. Comfortable, clean and well-appointed rooms with a side view balcony looking on the sea. The breakfast was lovely too.
