We have just returned from a 10 night all inclusive holiday booked with jet2 to THB Royal. We are a mum, dad, son (12) and daughter (10) family. We had a room with a view of the zen pool with a small garden patio area with table and chairs. The room consisted of a large living room with a sofa that we split into 2 singles, with a TV (had bbc1, bbc2, itv, ch4 and ch5), kettle, fridge, air con. Large bathroom with a shower and a large bedroom with two single beds together. The bedroom also had a TV but no air con so we kept the door open to the living room at night. Plenty of hangers and storage. As mentioned in many other reviews the hotel is aimed at the French clientele, entertainment team are tui France. There were plenty of other Brits at the hotel though. We sought each other out and most tend to occupy the zen pool as its quieter and away from all the French entertainment. If you're after putting your kids in a kids club for the day this isn't the place for you as it's all in French. On a major plus point the hotel literally just across the road - THB Tropical Island can be used by THB Royal guests, we used their pool which had great slides for the kids and a splash park. They also offer really good snacks. We didnt eat in the restaurant but I suppose you could. We also went over to their entertainment after dinner a few times. It's indoors which is good because the wind can be a bit chilly at night. Also the mini disco and bingo is in english 😁 The hotel staff were all friendly and happy to help even if there was sometimes a bit of a language barrier but I'm not someone who expects to go to a foreign country and expect everyone to understand perfect English. Playa Blanca as a resort is great, the sea was warm and calm, beach was clean. Good range of bars, restaurants and shops. We went on 2 trips, a highlights of Lanzarote which visited the Timanfaya National Park and the best cave system I've ever visited. Also did the aquapark which was really good fun for all the family (eat before 2pm as gets very very busy). Both trips were organised via the lady on reception who was great! Overall I would definitely stay again, a nice atmosphere and good facilities. I haven't even mentioned the food!! There is only the one restaurant, the selection of food available was ample and different each night. There was always pizza and chips available for the fussy eater. But otherwise there was different fresh fish and meat cooked to order. Good salad bar, theme nights and dessert selection. The crepe van was open 5 days a week, offering nice crepes and ice cream throughout the day. We didnt like the ice cream. Pablo is the hotel entertainment staff, he is really nice and comes round to offer volleyball, basketball etc. He will also let you know what the entertainment act is at Tropical Island that night which was handy.…
Nice and very clean, good selection of food in the restaurant. The staff are very friendly, just be aware that it is mainly a French hotel , on our first day there we made it 8 British people staying at the hotel but dont let this put you off it's a lovely well run hotel
it's just okay. we booked this hotel for our first holiday in 6 years and while the hotel itself is visually appealing I think it needs much better advertisement so you know what you're getting in to. Firstly, as others have said, this hotel is aimed at French guests so pretty much any evening activity is in French and staff members mostly speak French, this was not a problem for us personally as we both weren't too keen on participating in the evening activities and know enough French to get by, but it did make communicating with (the very friendly) staff members a little difficult. Secondly, they do advertise there being two pools, but what's not mentioned is that the main pool is the Party Pool, meaning for most of the day and well into the night there is loud music playing and loud activities. We were fortunate enough to be roomed by the Piscine Zen (the quiet pool) so most of the sound was muffled, but there were two girls who arrived at the same time as us who ended up being roomed directly above the restaurant/stage area where the performances lasted well into the wee hours of the morning, with very very loud music. Not really a great thing if you weren't expecting that.l, or have trouble sleeping anyway like myself and my fiance. Thirdly, the bloody shower!!!!! Maybe it was just our room but the water was either scalding hot or ice cold, with no in-between. The cold was ok when u just got back for siesta and you're hot anyway, but scalding water on a sunburn? made for very very uncomfortable showering. Also, after our second night they replaced the lovely soft bath towels in our rooms for thin scratchy beach towels, not really sure why?. Lastly, the breakfast is just okay too, which is a bit of a disappointment because all the other food we've eaten on this island has been fresh and delicious. Avoid the scrambled egg as it was clearly powdered egg, and extremely bland, which was bizzare because directly next to the scrambled was a chef making fried egg to order! Avoid the pastries as well, which was even more surprising as it's a French resort! The croissants seemed like they came out of a packet from Aldi. We only chose to do Bed and Breakfast instead of Half Board or All Inclusive and thank god cuz I would have hated to have had to eat there for all three meals. All in all, it was an okay hotel. We really enjoyed the terrace and the Quiet Pool and being able to just sit outside and watch the older French generation play their little board games and gossip and flirt with each other, but the hotel itself should have a 2-3 star rating and not a 4-star rating. Probably wouldn't come back or recommend. photo is of our view from the terrace onto the Piscine Zen.…
My husband and I had a holiday cancelled by TUI and ended up booking this place last minute with Jet2 so we had absolutely no expectations. However, we ended up really enjoying our stay. We booked room only so I can't comment on the food but the room itself was clean, modern, had a kettle and fridge and a lovely spacious balcony. Our room was located by the quiet pool at the back of the hotel which we were relieved about because it was nice and peaceful compared to the much livelier pool area near reception. As others have mentioned, the majority of guests at the hotel were French (although there were several other British families/couples there while we were) and their tour operator produces all of the evening entertainment so if you don't speak French that could be an issue. We weren't interested in the entertainment anyway as we spent all of our evenings out and about. Pablo, who works for the hotel and is multilingual was very pleasant and helpful and runs some entertainment in the day (if you're interested) and also informed us that the THB Tropical across the road put on entertainment in English in the evenings (again, we weren't particularly interested but it's helpful to know). We avoided the pool area by reception as it was too noisy for us but the quiet pool was fantastic. Always kept clean and tidy and the pool is a great size. Plenty of sun beds available! We found the staff at the hotel to be very friendly and helpful, all spoke English. Location wise, you're a 10 minute walk from Playa Dorada beach and a few bars/restaurants, it's then around a further 5 minutes to Playa Blanca beach and it's many bars/restaurants. The beautiful marina is around a 15 minute walk away in the opposite direction. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again if we returned to Playa Blanca!…
Having just returned from the tbh royal my review is only my opion everyone will have there own Firstly as mention in other reviews 99.9% geared to the french from music to entertainment the entertainment team (tui france) made no attempt to make conversation with us they would basicly walk past you if not french except for pablo He had time for everyone regardless of natanality Rooms were basic but clean, staff frendly(except the bar man upstairs ) no matter how long you were waiting if french come to bar he served then first, booked this holiday because easyjet cancelling egypt so didnt do any research on this hotel last minute booking my fault should of read up on it ,where the hotel is not french hotel its clientel certaianly are 9days all inc 4 june /13 june , would i return no not for me not set up for the english what so ever the odd english song does that count as equal entertainment…
Stayed at the hotel from Tuesday 7th of June to Sunday 12th. Travelled by myself and booked the room only package through Jet2, so can’t really comment on the food as I’ve not eaten here. Receptionist was friendly on arrival and gave me keys and a map of the complex which shows where your room is along with the layout of the complex. The complex has it’s own supermarket but there is a HiperDino (I assume a local chain as there are a few doted around the island) about 5 minutes walk away from the complex itself. Room I stayed in had it’s own balcony with table and chairs and a drying rack outside for towels. The lounge area had a small desk, sofa and table, kettle with mugs and glasses and a mine fridge (empty of course) The bedroom had a sliding wardrobe with plenty of storage space and a safe (€3 per day if you want to use) Bathroom was spacious with a powerful walk-in shower. Shampoo and body wash supplied, but brought my own with me. Small bar of soap is also provided in the bathroom. Air conditioning unit was only in the main lounge and not in the bedroom, unsure if that’s the same for other rooms, so it did mean the bedroom was warm during the evening, and the room backed onto the main road. Cleaners clean the room 6 days a week, also a do not disturb door hanger if you don’t want the room to be cleaned on a particular day. Pool area was good, two pools with plenty of sunbeds available during my stay. The beach is 10-15 walk away but the hotel offers a bus transfer if you don’t want to walk, never used this as the walk was easy enough. Marina with the main restaurant strip was again 10-15 minutes away and had plenty to offer each night in terms of food and evening entertainment. The hotel entertainment was a bit hit and miss, as most people have mentioned there are a lot of French and German tourists so a lot of the evening entertainment was in French and the music varied, and finished around 22:30 each evening. All in all for someone travelling by themselves and just wanting a break I found it to be okay. Local bus stop a few meters down from the complex entrance with good connections.…
Stayed here end of May 2022. Smallish hotel in a quiet location. Staff great even if they did always start off speaking French - Hotel was busy with French holiday-makers. *** Entertainment was in Only in French *** 2 pools. The pool away from the reception and restaurant was warm. The one near the restaurant was freezing. Pool area sunbeds and brollies were still available at 10:30am. Food for a 3* is very good with plenty of salad, pizza, fish, chicken, pasta, fruit and deserts. There is a roast meat on everyday! The wine on tap (white and rose) was very acceptable. There is a crepe van by the main pool. I had a junior suite with separate living room and bedroom. Kettle and fridge were very handy. Bed (2 x wide singles) was a little too firm for my liking. There was aircon in the room (didn't work) and 2 x TV's. Outside the hotel there is plenty of parking if you hire a car. The beaches of Papagayo/Mujeres are a short drive away - 10 minutes. Playa Blanca Centre is 3 mins drive. If you turn right outside the hotel entrance and follow the road down to the Crossroads, there is a Hiper Dino Express supermarket. Venture across the road and down the hill, through the carpark, there is a covered footpath leading down to the Dorada Beach. There are bars on this beach and there are also sun beds and brollies available. I presume there is a charge to use them. There is a shopping centre (Rubicon Centro) 2 mins away that has a Hiper Dino Express Supermarket and Springfield, amongst others. Would I return. "No, Sorry THB Royal". The hotel was nice but the Entertainment needs to be in Spanish, French and English.…
My friend and I have just returned from a 3 night all inclusive break which we booked the night before we set off. The hotel is very clean, tidy and pretty. We loved the decor and the colorful flowers everywhere. We wanted a quiet peaceful time so positioned ourselves around the zen pool. I think if our room had been centred around the noisy pool and entertainment , we may have asked to move. We found the food to be good. There was always a variety although some dishes tasted better than others. As others have commented, the hotel is targeted at French visitors. The entertainment is all in French and not of great quality but we enjoyed ourselves. Overall, if a similar deal came up to this hotel we would visit again
The Hotel in general is very clean, and reception staff are welcoming. Unfortunately, the Holiday was ruined by the stares and the feeling of being judged! Myself and my friend, are British and are of colour- This wasn't half pointed out! The main clientele is French, and if you aren't French or Spanish, I wouldn't bother! None of the Entertainment is in English, and there was no effort from the Entertainer team, as we are British, and they simply wasn't interested! This is not inclusive, and really is such a shame. The food on the holiday was very poor, with very random dishes, and what seemed to be very repetitive. Alcoholic drinks - Excellent portion of Alcohol for sure, but tasted very cheap, and cocktails was quite poor. You have to pay extra for a Pina Colada, which even tastes very milky and cheap! Positives: Pools are lovely, with plenty of sun loungers, and the cleaning service is great. I would advise not to attend if you are a Brit... most music and all entertainment is in french or Spanish. The Hotel rooms are basic, but nice. We was lucky to be next to the quiet pool. No Aircon in the bedroom, however, the Aircon unit in the main room, does flow through nicely throughout the night. The spot of the Hotel is a little isolating, with not much going on around it. On all.. Basic, it was manageable for a few days, but couldn't do a week. Shame about making myself and my friend feel excluded and uncomfortable.…
This is the 4th year I have stayed at the THB Royal Hotel, Playa Blanca. It just gets better year by year. The friendliness of the staff, their attention to detail and helpful attitude is what sets the hotel apart. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The standard of food is excellent and plentiful. There is such a variety of dishes, there is always something to sate every appetite and taste. It’s become my happy place and I look forward to returning as soon as I am able.
