My wife and I have just returned from the hotel. The hotel itself is very clean ,bedrooms were well cleaned, staff very polite. We stayed for 14 nights on a B&B tariff as we know Playa Blanca very well .We preferred to eat out in one of many excellent restaurants. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of food although the restaurant was very noisy. I did not like the segregation of restaurants, ie Star Prestige Area. There were no coffee facilities in room unless you paid extra. It was very noisy around the pools due to many families with children There was no areas ie bars that were adults only where you could relax without children running around. There were insufficient pool umbrellas for sun protection and it was first come ,first serve This was definitely a hotel for young families, not for couples. I will not be going back again..

Hotel's Favourite
After an almost two year wait I finally made it back to the hotel for my long awaited second visit. This time staying Star Prestige I upgraded to a top floor priority location room which was a junior suite with sea view. The view was fantastic, exactly what I had expected but I forgot I would be able to hear the sea too so it was a lovely surprise to hear the waves all day and all night. The view is of the northern end of Fuerteventura and Isla de Lobos. On a clear day you can see the sand dunes of the Parque Naturale. Most of the time there was a calima blowing which I was told was either sand from the La Palma volcano or the Sahara, depending on the wind direction. It didn’t prevent sunbathing just impaired the view of Fuerteventura and of Lanzarote from Fuerteventura. On arriving at the room I realised I had booked myself close to a set of lifts and the gates that separate Star Prestige from the rest of the hotel. The gates swing backwards and forwards until they have clicked shut and can be quite noisy. However all I heard was the ping of the arrival of the lift from time to time and it was quite handy that there was a hand-sanitising station close to my room. There was less sound in the corridor of people walking past and maids servicing the rooms. The rooms either side of me were quiet most of the time, I am not sure that anyone was in them but when there were I heard little or nothing to bother me. I have not felt that the ability to connect a phone to the room’s music system is a bonus for anyone else and was relieved not to hear any music this time. Unlike some guests I wasn’t pleased to have the bottles of water that were delivered to the room replaced by a carafe and to have to go and find the nearest water station. The water is quite slow to dispense from the machine but it is nicely chilled. I understand why this change has been made of course. I was pleased though to be given a second carafe when I asked for it because I do use a lot of water and this fitted neatly into the minibar. Whilst the website says the room was the same square footage as a side sea view room it seemed a lot bigger. The bathroom was a bit smaller and arranged in a different way. As others have said there is no door on the toilet but one door into the whole area. The glass balcony set off the view perfectly and I could see the sea whilst lying in bed. Sunsets were fantastic. There was a comfortable chair in the room and a standard lamp. This was brilliant because in the past I had found there are no comfortable chairs in the Star Prestige part of the hotel, only in Reception. It took me several days to finally realise I was there after the endless travel restrictions. I couldn’t go back to the other rooms now having stayed in this room, the view was fantastic. It was well worth the upgrade. It overlooks the promenade which runs around that part of the island and it was fun to look and see what people were doing. Many people were on electric scooters or segways and quite a lot of people were gliding silently past late at night. And of course you see everything that is going on in and on the water and it was great to see the various boats and ribs going past. Serious diving is quite popular at this end of the island. The balcony got the sun from noon until sunset so as you could see the sea all the time and had sun most of the time it was easy to stay in your room much more than you would have otherwise. I also slept very well in the room. The bed was comfortable and the blackout curtains were excellent but the room was quiet. The air conditioning was only partly controllable and I would have liked to be able to set it cooler than it would go. There were kitchen smells at various times of the day but the view from the balcony far outweighed this. I found the dining times assigned to me to be quite restrictive and after accidentally being late on a number of occasions and still being allowed to dine I began to arrive at the time that suited me and all was well. I didn’t see any backlog of guests waiting to dine and the effect of assigning times and hoping people stuck to them had the general effect of everyone eating safely. I wasn’t asked to leave early and often told to stay as long as I wanted, which I did. This time I tried the Spa and was very fortunate to have it all to myself most of the time. It has good facilities but unfortunately its all looking very tired and needs quite a few surfaces re-tiled or painted. The cold plunge pool was excellent but the sauna didn’t heat up. It would have been nice if other guests had read the rules that conversation was not permitted and if bubbles in plastic glasses had been permitted in the Spa as they are in the pool areas. All the staff and particularly those in the restaurants worked so hard I felt embarrassed to be sitting there resting. They were polite, attentive and friendly where appropriate, remembered what I liked and gave me what I asked for too. The staff are what make this hotel. I travelled on my own and knowing that there would be a friendly face here and there made all the difference. All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone said hola to everyone regardless of their own language. Big shouts out to Marina and Rayco in the Reception area. The staff on Reception work really hard to make sure that guests have what they need when they need it. To Melissa, Jessica and Muñoz in the restaurants, and all the other lovely people there whose names I don’t remember. At the Star Prestige Pool Bar to the excellent Jan and Charaf and the other ladies whose names I don’t remember. They worked seemingly effortless and once again gave me a personal experience, they were always fun to be around and more than happy to help me improve my Spanish. To Natalia and her colleague who cleaned my room each day and were more than happy to change the time they did it to suit what I was doing. There are a few negatives and COVID-related niggles, some I get and some I don't. First closure of the Star Prestige Lounge. I knew this would be shut and understand that it’s not possible to maintain social distancing in the lounge which is quite small. What I don’t understand is why the same lovely snacks and choice of drinks aren’t made available at the SP Pool Bar. I did notice towards the end of my stay after I had mentioned this to a staff member that the lights were put back on and pieces of equipment were being restored to the lounge as though they were getting ready to open it but I was assured several times that they had no plans to re-open it, because of COVID. Secondly the end of A la carte and waiter service in the Star Prestige restaurant. I have stayed at several hotels during COVID and they have all required guests to be seated and waited upon the whole time and this was strictly enforced. With A la carte and waiter service ended guests are required to go out into the main restaurant and bring back the food they want. This means that even more people are milling around in the main restaurant creating more opportunity for people to come into contact with each other. Its nice to go and choose your food sometimes, but not all the time. For anyone wondering about drinks, the service extends to seeing you to your table, seated and sorted for drinks but that and removing your plates is as far as it goes. We miss the separate Star Prestige welcome on arrival with hot towels and as there was a glass screen up at that desk, I wondered why they hadn’t continued with this. As has already been said every group of arrivals were seated on a comfy sofa, their bags whisked away and glasses of bubbles offered whilst the formalities were completed. The staff members took their time to check people in and relax so the holiday began right at that point. Another niggle was no slippers along with the dressing gowns in the rooms this time. How do slippers encourage the spread of COVID any more than a dressing gown? These are luxe services that guests are paying for but not receiving and make a difference to the experience that people are seeking. There are plenty of other adults only, luxe hotels out there and two new hotels are being built in Playa Blanca and I do think that Iberostar will need to re-consider its Star Prestige offering soon if it wants to stop guests looking elsewhere in the resort. The chairs in the solarium had been replaced with sun beds in order to provide more space between pairs of sun beds in the main pool area. That meant there were less sun beds in the main pool area. Whilst it’s a sensible move it meant that due to people getting up at 6.30 am when it was still dark (!) to put a towel on their favourite sunbed, there were no sun beds available in the main pool area for anyone else coming looking for them at a reasonable hour. Only those that were in the solarium area which looks out directly onto the sea front were unreserved. As it was I found the guests to be much more talkative this time and as I like peace and quiet around the pool, retreated to the solarium which I found to be quieter so I was happy in the end. As has been said many times on Trip Advisor the Papagayo Restaurant is like a cattle market all of the time. It is noisy, people milling everywhere and bumping into each other with plates full of food. It is not restful or relaxing. I felt very sorry for the guests sitting there trying to maintain their relaxed holiday mood. It needs to be made more intimate, it is quite large and needs to be divided into small areas. The surfaces need to be changed so that they absorb sound and so that chairs don’t scrape on the floor when they are moved. It was great to see that an outdoor eating had been introduced for guests from both restaurants but as it was an area that was used by smokers and families with children, I didn’t want to sit there, as much as I did want to eat outdoors. The sunbeds were still too close together around the main pool and I felt sorry for families trying to relax there. The main lounge/bar area whilst well spaced and decorated still looks un thought through and needs to be re-designed and made more attractive and relaxing. The entertainment shows each night in the main part of the hotel were excellent if a little bizarre at times and not really what children would expect to see or understand. The effort put into each performance was exceptional. It was great that they were repeated twice a night so that more people could get to see them. A big shout out to the excellent Martina who provides all types of animation for the SP guests without making them feel they have to. She is such an asset being multi-lingual and multi-talented. There was the same amazing variety, almost mind boggling, display and choice of food in both restaurants. Some of the prepared hot vegetables choices were so tasty and I made sure I had them when they were on offer. There was something for every taste, all the time. I appreciated the varied choice of wholemeal breads and rolls and there was something for vegans too although I didn’t think it looked that appetising. I particularly liked the way the individual servings of butter are displayed at room temperature and not chilled so that they spread immediately. There were many different choices of fruit juice and other types of juice to try. The choice is widest in the main restaurant. There was a large selection of salamis, dried meats, cheeses and olives every night which I absolutely loved and sampled these on toasted brown bread rolls for starters or desserts. I tried the various dishes that were new to me as much as possible. None of the niggles or negatives I have mentioned would prevent me from giving this hotel and the fantastic people the best rating possible. I was able to speak to several of the chiefs or managers who explained the reasons why things are why they are right now. They explained that things are inevitably always changing but that they are always looking for the way to bring back what they used to do in a safe way for the future and are always looking for ways they can improve what the hotel can offer its guests. I would always consider returning to this hotel. It feels like my second home and we all want a place in the sun! It is the most beautiful hotel in the area and many people stop to take a photo when walking past. I hope that the big bosses in Majorca who respond to these reviews understand how great their staff are and are able to pick up on some of the niggles that keep being repeated in these reviews with a view to bringing change. I love the Iberostar brand and am looking again to try two more hotels next year if COVID will let me.

This holiday was long over due mostly because of Covid19 cross border restrictions, and also the stress of work load. We arrived early, about midday, at the resort to be met by a warm and welcoming lady who could not have been more helpful. Our room was not prepared and we asked to see if it was up to our expectations. She did say that it was not available to be viewed but gave us the our, all inclusive,  bands and keys to enjoy what the resort had to offer and that if needs be we could change into some more suitable lighter clothing due to the heat in the spa which we had access too. 1st port of call after a very early flight was the restaurant, the display and variety of food could not disappoint anybody. Foods were well marked with glutton free etc. Sea food was in great abundance which suited myself. After lunch and a change into something a great deal cooler, we headed into the marina area which is a very nice walk towards the marina area with shops and local bars etc enroute. We went back to the reception to get access to our room, wow we could have not asked for more, the view over the pool area over towards the beach could not have surpassed our greatest expectations, but then the reception staff did up grade us as our elected room was not available. Throughout our short 7 night stay we were wined and dined as lord and lady by staff who could not do enough to help or please us anymore. The cleanliness of the resort was outstanding, not just the rooms but also out and around the grounds. We were adults only all inclusive, which meant that we had the pleasure of a child free/quiet restaurant, but at the same time in the pool area no children were permitted at anytime, don't get me wrong there are 2 other area adjacent where children could have as much fun as their little hearts desire, but it is distant enough to add just a little smile on your face to know that families can also enjoy the oasis of a piece of paradise. A big thanks must go to ' Xavi' through him our holiday was made special with his attendance, banter local knowledge and control of various languages, 7 nights to short totally. We are now in the process of booking for September hopefully for 10 or 14 nights work permitting. We needed a warm relaxing break at a family friendly hotel and Iberostar lanzarote did not disappoint. For kids: kids club run by friendly multilingual professional staff who knew my daughter by name straight away, at least 4 kid friendly pools, dedicated children's play area, quick access to child friendly beach, and the staff couldn't do enough to support every aspect of our stay. For adults: phenomenal food with a huge variety (buffet doesn't do it justice the variety and quality is outstanding and the waiting staff very responsive to all needs), areas for adults away from kids, spa, sports area etc. The panoramic sea view is amazing. I can't think of any way this trip could be improved only I wish I'd booked for longer.

5 May - 7 nt stay in a standard side sea view room on all incl basis We have stayed in 3 other hotels various times in Playa Blanca and have passed this hotel it has a fab location right next to Flamingo Beach and is a very short walk to town . So we thought we would give it a try.. overall we were not disappointed - I can honestly say this hotel has the very best service from ALL its hardworking friendly staff . The main restaurant is run very well - plenty of staff with a lot of choice /variety . Cook to order different meats / fish / seafood every lunchtime and evening . There is vegan / gluten free / sugar free foods marked . Quality food and great desserts n ice cream ! All areas kept very clean - plenty of staff to take drinks orders and take plates away . The pool bar - sports bar, very hardworking friendly efficient with quick table service if required . High quality drinks incl on all incl eg grey goose vodka Bombay sapphire /mojitos / gin n vodka specialist cocktails etc . The entertainment was ok on a night just not our thing . The entertainment team however always friendly but not pushy ! I asked for a quiet room - We were allocated a room overlooking the kids pool activity area on the 3 rd level. but it was very quiet ! (Some rooms in the middle block are right above the bars / restaurant and could be noisy I’d imagine ) The prestige area is adults and standard guests cannot access this area so I cannot comment on that part of the hotel . Our room was spacious , clean , nicely furnished -plenty storage / bathrobes / kettle n coffee machine / tv had bbc 1 bbc2 itv c4 and c5 . There was hairdryer in bathroom and plenty of showergel / shampoo etc fixed in bottles in wall . The pool areas - ( non prestige) you could always get a sunbed but not enough parasols - our only issue they are ALL dominated by children which is not so good as a couple on holiday with no children wanting a bit of peace n relaxation ! There was ALOT of children mainly under 5s . Why not make the sun area n pool at bottom of hotel near sea - an adult only area for standard hotel adult guests or for over 15 yrs old . We had a late flight - you can’t reqst a late check out until day before .. we couldn’t pay to keep the room on beyond 11 am as not available but reception did direct us to the spa where you can use changing rooms ( seperate men : womens) with 2 showers / toilets / mirrors etc - they provide towels . We did this - it was ok but only had hot water ( no cold due to issues on that day which wasn’t ideal ) NB Hotel using a lot of tech ie iPad check in / QR codes for bar menus etc and eco friendly with electronic water stations to refill your beakers / water bottles and no straws etc - well done ! Tip - if you are adults only I’d book in prestige area .

Just returned from my second stay - May 2022 for 10 nights. My partner and I very rarely go on holiday to the same destination twice, we like to explore different destinations. That we decided to return to Lanzarote was entirely because of this hotel - we stayed here 4 years ago, and have both said since that it’s the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. What makes it so special? It’s a number of things combined of course, but the one area that stands out above all others is the total and utter dedication of every single member of staff to ensuring that you have the very best possible holiday. I’m not exaggerating when I say that every employee we encountered was as cheerful, polite, helpful, enthusiastic and professional as the next - without exception they just wanted us to get everything from our holiday that we could. We stayed in the Star Prestige area of the hotel which is adults only and has its own dining room and pool. We stayed on an All Inclusive basis and I would say we definitely got full value from it. It’s a “proper” All Inclusive with incredible buffet meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the drinks are name-brands and the measures are dangerously generous! The room we had was very clean and had a magnificent view across the Star Prestige pool area and the sea, which is literally a few yards from the hotel. I really can’t find anything negative to say, the hotel is just superb and I think it’s very likely we will be returning.

We visited for 7 nights over Easter. Whilst waiting for check-in we were offered glasses of Cava and water. Staff across the whole hotel are so friendly, hard-working and efficient. The hotel is spotless. Our room was outside of the main circular areas. The sea view was amazing but we were slightly disappointed with the size is the room for a family of 5. The children had to sleep on 2 sofa beds and a camp bed in the living area. I hope the hotel considers making larger inter-connecting rooms available. We enjoyed the hotel facilities so much that we were often in the room. The kids’ pool was heated and the slides were great. The food truck was handy but the range of snacks and drinks was limited. After our first day we upgraded from half board to all-inclusive and I would recommend that. The selection at the buffet for each meal was great. On different nights there was sushi, lobster, oysters…. Our daughter enjoyed the mini disco. Our sons enjoyed football at Star Camp but it was only on one week. There is not much to do in the Playa Blanca area but this hotel offers great pools and food so perfect for a relaxing break. We would definitely return but hope that the family rooms are improved!

Stayed at the Iberostar Easter 2022 this is a fabulous resort could'nt fault one thing, loved every minute and I am not easily pleased, only thing I would say is that there are not a lot of restaurants close by if you are not all-inclusive.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel with family, food great, service and staff could not faulted. Lots of choice for both food and drinks. Great for children and all the family, this is the best all inclusive hotel I have stayed in I have booked again in August
