We stayed here all inclusive in early March 2020. Half the place was shut down when we got there and other facilities were closed during our stay. It was advertised as having two buffet restaurants and two speciality restaurants. Only one buffet restaurant was open, meaning long queues and crowding at all meals. The food at breakfast was not too bad, but the lunch and evening offerings were served lukewarm at best and were often inedible. Tables, crockery and cutlery didn’t seem very clean. We ended up eating out most evenings. The speciality dining was similar. Only one of the advertised restaurants was open, the pizza place, but only on 1 night during our stay. Service in here was reasonable, and at least the food was hot. However, a family eating at the same time allowed their small children ( under 5 yrs old) to go to the salad buffet unattended, using their hands to transfer food to their plate and most of their food ended up on the floor. The staff made no attempt to clean up the floor and the parents didn’t care. The snack bar had reasonable hot dogs etc, but service was slow, again nothing was hot, and the server sneezed into her gloved hand before picking up the bread rolls. Hello Covid! The large pool was closed for most of the stay, due to the previous week’s sandstorms. Whilst accepting that this was beyond their control, we were not advised of this by the hotel when we arrived, nor were we advised when it eventually reopened. The adults only pool was the only large pool still open, but the bar was shut. There were only two bars open in the evening when we got there - the one in the middle of the complex and ‘the dome’, which included the children’s club and the disco. The main bar wasn’t too bad, although it was very sterile and small, with a very poor choice of all inclusive drinks. However, 2 days into the holiday the dome shut and the children’s club was moved into the main bar. The frantic singing and dancing went on for hours, at the same time as having the sports TVs turned up full blast, making it impossible to have a conversation. Again, this drove us to go out in the evenings. The room was reasonably sized, but the cleaning wasn’t up to standard. We were twice given ‘clean’ towels with visible stains on them. The floors had obviously never seen a mop and were so dirty that we had to put socks on after taking a shower and only take them off as we got into bed. The ladies toilets next to the main bar had no lock on the door and no hand washing facilities. Given the news at the time, we didn’t feel safe eating in the resort, due to the lack of hygiene observed. This, combined with the poor quality of the food and the lack of adult bar space resulted in us eating out for most meals except breakfast and cost us a fortune on top of the all inclusive fees already paid. The whole place was run down, poorly managed and definitely not worth the money we paid. Review delayed due to us both coming down with Covid a week after returning from this holiday.

Dear LizzygirlUk, Thank you for your review and for giving us the opportunity to indicate the measures that were taken at the THB Tropical Island in order to avoid the spread of the Covid-19 virus that potentially could be brought in the establishment by any guest staying with us. Being part of THB hotels, which is an established and recognized company which operates in this industry since more than 30 years, we can proudly says that every kind of risk is valued and we have procedures also for aspects which are unlikely to happen in a hotel and that had never happened in a hotel. For this reason and knowing the importance of providing a safe environment to all of our guests, since already years ago at the entrance of our restaurants we had a hydro alcoholic gel dispenser, the cutlery in the buffet are changed every 15-20 minutes, the tables and chairs disinfected after every use etc etc.. We point out this, because this are measures that nowadays are essential everywhere we go due to the COVID-19 but that we had it already as part of our normal hotel operative. Even though at the beginning of the pandemic due to the COVID-19 and taking in consideration that it was new for the entire world and there was a lot of confusion in what it was and in which way was possible that the virus could be transmitted, since the first moment we put in place the strictest protocol that we had against viruses. For this reason, the measures previously said, were reinforced in order to avoid that the virus could affect our guests and hotel staff. In fact, we reduced the restaurant capacity to create more distance from one table to another and guest were asked to wait at the entrance in order to be given a table by a member our staff (this explains the little queues that we had on rare occasions), to change the food cutlery every 5-10 minutes, to create more distance between the sunbeds, to employ staff which their only duty was to disinfect door knobs, elevators push buttons, etc etc. At the same time THB hotels was elaborating a specific anti-Covid-19 protocol which was shortly implemented in all the hotels of the chain and even though due to the fact that some guests could have arrived in our hotel having the virus but not having symptoms, the procedure we put in place allowed us to avoid any outbreak in the THB Tropical Island. Evidence of the effectivity of the protocol was that in April, one of the hotels of the chain in Mallorca was designed by the sanitary authorities as one of the two hotels in the Balearic Islands which could offer accommodation to the sanitary staff working in hospitals but that didn’t want to comeback home after their work shift being scared to transmit the virus to their relatives. We regrets that the press news are in Spanish but we kindly forward you some of the links just if you would like to verify the information we have just given: https://www.ultimahora.es/noticias/local/2020/04/03/1154069/coronavirus-mallorca-sanitarios-prefieren-volver-casa-estan-hotel-mirador.html https://www.lavanguardia.com/local/baleares/20200402/48274885068/el-govern-habilita-dos-hoteles-de-ibiza-y-mallorca-para-acoger-a-sanitarios.html As per the facilities opened, we would like to point out that the openings are always subject to the availability of the hotel and always in order to offer the best experience to all our guests. About the cleaning of our rooms, in total humility, we have to disagree as from our satisfaction survey that every guest can forwards us, it results as one of the strength with a score of 8.56 out of 10. Regarding the food, we do strictly follow the international HACCP principle & application guidelines and we do carry on all the requirements we are meant to do. Some of them are to train all our staff so that they have the best knowledge as “Food Handler” and to constantly checks and records the food temperature once has been prepared. Therefore, we are absolutely confident to say that the food served in our buffet and outlets has the highest safety and quality standards. Every night of the week we have a thematic dinner where you can find a selection of very well known dishes from the best international and national cuisines. Our chefs are very passionate about their job and we elaborate all our dishes directly in our installations being able to offer a wide range of tasty food. Even though the majority of our guests consider our gastronomic offer excellent, we understand that the taste is something very personal and we are sorry if our food offer was not up to yours and you would prefer to go to have dinner outside and to expose yourself to situations probably less safe than the THB Tropical Island. Finally, we are really sorry to know that you had the covid-19 but at the same time are happy that you could write this review meaning that in some way you have successfully recovered from it. Best regards.

I am struggling to extract any informato=ion for my upcoming trip to the hotel. All the channels - including WhatsApp, email which suppose to be available are not working. I found it really dreadful and even we are not in the hotel just yet it feels like neglect. This is my last try before I cancel as I can see someone is taking time to answer to the reviews. How fast is the internet and are all rooms are in range? Assuming its a free option THe Alfarooms advertising your facilities and no mention of any extra pay. SPA - I assume all free of charge except the massage and treatments requiring therapist work. If not I would like to know how much you need to pay for the sauna< Turkish bath. The indoor swimming pool is free to use? I would like to ask for the particular room near the heated swimming pool and with the terrace on the sunny side. Refurbished. Do you have oven, hob and Kettle in the rooms. Are they satisfactory fo use? Are you cleaning the balcony floor ( reviews suggest they are not cleaned) Thank you very much for the answers in advance

I visited the THB Tropical Island hotel with my family and we loved it. We loved the sports facilities, tennis and football. The pools were amazing, with water slides for children and a pool bar. I really loved staying here and recommend it for families. There is even a kids club!

I visited THB tropical island with my family and enjoyed my stay as a whole. There were a few things that could be improved but that is the same with the majority of hotels. Accommodation: The room we stayed in was an apartment style with a sofa bed and a separate bedroom and bathroom. We were on the ground floor next to a small hot-tub however you can be accommodated on the first floor or by one of the many pools around the site. Food: We were self catering so I can not comment that well on the food however we did eat in the restaurant one night and the food was ok. A varied range of food was available in the buffet, including fruit salads and deserts. It was not as good as other hotels I have been to but that wasn’t a problem because of the great choice of restaurants outside of the hotel along the seafront which is only a short walk away (I’ll get more into that later) Pool: There was so much choice as to what pool you went to as this hotel has a LOT of pools. This was good because you could get an apartment next to a pool and decide to spend the day there or walk to the larger pool. The only negative I would give to this hotel is that the pool was FREEZING in the morning. Up until mid day you couldn’t spend more than 5 mins in the pool without shivering. Staff: The staff were helpful and cleaners came round regularly, the entertainment team were great and offered a range of activities through the day/week for everyone to enjoy. This included football on the Astro-turf and an inflatable assault course in the pool. Facilities: There were good facilities scattered around the complex. Examples of these were an Astro turf, spa, gym, adult only pool, table football and pool tables, a huge choice of swimming pools, a shop, a large entertainment centre and a mini zoo with tortoises. In Conclusion: Overall the hotel was great, the only improvement points would be the cold pool and the food but other than that I believe this is a good choice for a family holiday.

Dear callump04, Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a complete review. We are glad that you have enjoyed basically all the areas and services of the THB Tropical Island. As per the pools, we would like to mention that between the 16 pools that we have in the hotel, 8 of them are climatized and the temperature can vary from 25 to 28ºC depending also on the amount of sunshine they receive. Guest can consult the temperature of each pool at reception and than choose the one which suits more. Once again thank you for stay review and we hope to have you back soon. Best Regards

We stayed here in March for 5 nights. The staff is friendly and helpful in reception. Our room was cleaned every day except one maybe on the Sunday and it was to a good standard. We did have mould in out bathroom over the bath and shower which is not good enough. We only have breakfast here and that was enough. I wouldn't want to have all inclusive here. Get a key fob for the gate as this saves you time walking into town and the beach. Which took us around 15 minutes. This was not a problem for us. The hotel is walking distance to Rubicon Marina which have some lovely restaurants and the local beach is lovely. The hotel had lovely grounds which was all well maintained. We had a good stay and was lucky with the weather but would choose to stay somewhere different next time. Its 3 star hotel and not a 4 star.
