The H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection hotel presents a mixed bag of experiences. Proximity to picturesque beaches is a highlight for many guests, but some feel the location is inconveniently remote. While the cleanliness and spaciousness of rooms are praised, criticism arises regarding outdated aesthetics and maintenance concerns. The hotel's amenities—including diverse dining and pools—receive positive remarks, yet guests have called out the need for better service and upkeep. The piano bar's atmosphere is noted for its elegance, though marred by slow service. Opinions on value are divided, with some travelers questioning the hotel's star rating and pricing.

This was our 2nd visit at the Rubicon Palace we had a superior double room with balcony and the hotel accommodated our request for a quiet room. Our room was located on the 7th floor near the Chill Out pool. Some reviewers have complained about the bedrooms not being cleaned this was not the case with our room. The room was cleaned daily and all the towels replaced twice a day. The hotel provided robes and slippers.

We had dinner in the Dolce Vita Italian restaurant and what a difference, good choice of food on the menu, good service and good food.

The Piano Bar is very impressive and I wish the service was too. We frequently waited 15 mins for our drinks order to be taken and on one evening we walked out after 20 mins. It appears if you are All Inc or a regular visitor to the hotel you get better service.

I agree that the problem with reserving sun loungers is an issue wherever you go and sadly selfish guests did reserve loungers from early in the day and did not return to the pool until late afternoon. This is an issue that the hotel must look into as they are very quick to challenge if you remove any food from the buffet especially fruit!

Also, this is the only hotel we have stayed where the sun loungers in the pool areas are regularly jet washed and sanitised.

The Despacio Spa is worth a visit and the treatments are not too badly priced and value for money especially the express manicure.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel but in essence the standard of the hotel has changed since our previous visit. The layout, rooms, location etc may be considered 5* but the food definitely isn't.

Beautiful hotel grounds, stunning views, really enjoyed our holiday and would recommend this hotel to everyone . Loved the dolphins display in reception, welcome drinks on arrival, we got a golf cart ride to our room so we didn’t have to carry luggage. Our room was spacious, with a fan and aircon which you could have on separately, two double beds and sofa bed, large balcony over looking path to the pool and mikes coffee shop (which is lovely with lots of choice, caramel iced coffee was amazing) in the square behind the cafe is a clothing shop with named brands and a souvenir shop, it was quite pricey but nice to have some options to buy bits, we got inflatables for the pool from there. I would of bought them from home but was unsure if we were allowed but you are. we didn’t see a supermarket shop on the grounds which would of been nice to get water, snacks for room we had to walk 20mins or so to nearest shop (opposite way to playa Blanca). The room itself had been redecorated black and white, had toiletries, free safe, fridge and main English channels, had a good hairdryer and a drying rack for a few clothes on balcony with table and chairs. The cleaners came in everyday and around the hotel it felt clean and tidy. There was a lot of entertainment which you could see schedule on the app and on screens near eating area. Lots of choice for evening meals but did get abit the same so loved that the alcarte restaurants were included in half board which were all three courses (you need to book restaurants on H10 app quickly on arrival or before for good times) for three of the night, our favourite was the Italian and impressed it had stone baked pizza oven. Asian restaurant was lovely too. Breakfast was our favourite the children loved the churros and we liked the freshly made omelettes by the chefs in front of you. The cappuccino from the coffee machines were really nice, the staff worked really hard and kept the restaurants clean. You can purchased reusable water bottles for 3.50 and fill them up all over hotel. It would of been nice if there was some burgers and nuggets for the children just to fill them up. But the lunch option did have this for them when we swapped our dinner to lunch one day. The cocktail bar upstairs has an amazing terrace with beautiful views and great cocktails made properly. The pool cocktails were ok but out of jugs in plastic cups for safety around pool but preferred upstairs, hotel offers branded drinks even on all inclusive. We loved the fire show and flamenco dancing and my daughter loved meeting Elsa, the kids pool area was great change too. There was mini golf (abit worn out but did the job) and a play park next to it. The main pool is sea salt so we made sure our kids had goggles. It states you are not allowed to reserve sunloungers when checking in but this was sadly not enforced so after breakfast we went to use pool and every lounger (there are plenty) all had towels on them but no one at them for hours which is unfair on people at the pool wanting to relax and be close to the pool to watch the children, if the staff removed towels this would make it fair for everyone staying at the hotel and wanting to enjoy the facilities. You can leave the hotel to walk along sea front down the stairs to the side of the spa. Hotel is further out so to walk to playa blanca main strip you can walk along the seafront and takes about 40mins with a few bars along the way, but we mainly got taxis which the hotel kindly rang they arrived quickly and only cost 5 euros (ten minute journey), lots of restaurants and bars there and beach, we also got a fast ferry from the harbour to FortVentura (prebook in advance for cheaper, ticket offices near harbour for 35 euros adult 18 child, you need passports when going on ferry). There is a lovely beach bar with great cocktails and food just to the right outside the hotel for a change of scenery. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating, they gave my daughter a mug full of Lindor chocolates for her birthday so very thoughtful. you will not be disappointed with your stay here, it’s large and didn’t feel crowded. A few tweaks and it would be perfect. Thankyou for a lovely stay :)

I am not quite sure how to rate this hotel. Firstly it’s a very nice hotel so I would like to rate it as a five BUT, it’s very big, so you feel a bit like you’re in a two different places. We checked in which took about five minutes , we did not get offered the welcome drink but were asked if we wanted to upgrade to Privilege service which included a la carte in all restaurants, because it was about 450 euros we declined to upgrade. An electric cart ride takes you and your luggage to your room which was good. Our room or villa as they call them was at the bottom part of the grounds because we had asked for a sea view, again this was nice, it was what we asked for after all, but, the room was not that big, a bit dark and had a lot of furniture. The bathroom was large with a shower over the bath, and was always clean with clean towels most days. Two sun beds a table and two chairs on the small patio outside had the sun from first thing in the morning until about 2pm. A kettle with tea and coffee and a coffee machine with pods which were not very nice. It was a fair walk up to the hotel itself, the guy who checked us in said it was two minutes, it was more! Even the rep said did they think we were running and one way is up hill. This is why I won’t give it a five. The grounds are lovely and are well kept the pool area is tidy, the sun beds are very close together but always plenty available. The pool bar has daily snacks which include sandwiches, nachos and fruit and yogurts.
There is a choice of four main restaurants but some only available if you take the privilege package. The buffet restaurant is very big; it gets very busy at certain times and has seating areas outside which also get busy. The food is ok but very repetitive the breakfast being the best meal of the day with a very good selection. Lunch and evening meal had the same salad and tapas selections every day which was quite monotonous. We ate in the Japanese Sakura restaurant which was nice but nothing exceptional. Then the pool bar doubles as a steakhouse on several nights and we ate there once which was not very good one type of steak, burgers and chicken wings on the menu, I did think nachos as a starter was a joke. Evening entertainment was ok some nights better than others either in the Piano room on reception level, or the bar on the second floor which had movie quizzes, bingo and karaoke at 9.30 then a band or singers etc. not brilliant but better than nothing.
The staff are mostly quite friendly but one or two of the women in the restaurant are a bit rude I didn’t get names because the name tags are quite small.
A number 30 bus right outside the hotel every half hour takes you to Playa Blanca and on to the Rubicon Marina. A taxi will cost you about five euro from playa Blanca and seven euros from Rubicon. Staff on Reception will advise you which bus number etc. for further areas.
We did enjoy our 10 days at the H10 Rubicon but its unlikely that we will visit again because of the position and of the room as we always like to book a sea view.

The lobby is where the five star ends, although the piano bar is a highlight of the hotel.

Let’s get straight into the issues:

- Hotel is circa 25 years old. It shows. It’s very tired and grubby in the majority of the hotel. Especially the rooms, with flooring very worn, beds which are two doubles pushed together (I think we all hate this trick) and the room aircon is pretty much useless (barely works, low output), fridge is pretty standard, shower was hot and large but leaked out the side panels so soaked your bathroom, basin had no manual plug pull so you had to dip your hands into the water to drain (minor but it’s a five star remember…)

- Door system is due a major upgrade. Your phone or anything with magnets will null the room card and you’ll be left returning to reception multiple times.

- We had no hand soap all holiday - instead someone had put shower gel in its location instead. We asked reception 4 times to change this. But either no one turned up or when they did, they replaced the shower gel with more shower gel !? As we were out whenever they did this, it never got resolved. We used our own hand sanitiser in the end.

- Food selection is unbelievably poor throughout. If you’re half board then you only really have the pool snack bar to eat from, and I’d recommend you don’t. It’s scraps left out all day like chips, nachos, and rollover hotdogs (yuck), some basic filled sandwiches and baguettes. Ripe for the runs.

The buffet selection is bad. The food options are just not very good for a five star. Quality is poor generally. You’d make better pasta dishes at home to be honest. The juices for breakfast are basically water.

There’s three a la cartes. We did the Italian twice. It’s entirely average in every sense. The pizza has potential as they do have a large brick pizza oven but it falls short because I feel the lack of quality ingredients is evident when you eat it. The starters feel stale and pre-made (look like they’re sat about and just picked off when ordered).

The kids pirate pool needs some TLC because the actual pirate ship at the top floor has caution tape stopping you going up to the last level. The lifeguard on duty one day was on his phone lots and seemingly didn’t care that older kids were climbing up the slide the wrong way. Yet he would tell adults off if they went up to help their children go down.

The crazy golf is half a job with mostly filled flag holes.

Credit where it’s due then:

- the location isn’t too bad with the lovely flamingo beach about 20/25 min walk which has some restaurants, coffee shops ice cream etc.

- it is clean. Rooms cleaned daily and generally hotel seems quite clean, including the grounds

- plenty of sunbeds and the pools are large and a few are heated for December which is nice

- staff are friendly, helpful and nice to deal with and be around

Dear Dan R, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay. We greatly value the insights from our guests, as they help us refine and enhance the experiences we offer. It is wonderful to hear that you appreciated the cleanliness of our facilities, the heated pools, our convenient location, and the friendliness of our staff which is the Rubicon Palace’s excellence, always attentive and professional. These are aspects we take great pride in, and it is always gratifying to know they stood out during your visit. Our Piano Bar and the elegant ambiance of the lobby are also elements we continuously strive to maintain as iconic features of our hotel. We do, however, regret that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. With respect to the key card system, we understand how frustrating issues like demagnetization can be. This is precisely why, as part of our commitment to enhancing guest satisfaction, we will upgrade to a more reliable system that aligns with the high standards of our hotel chain. Regarding our culinary offerings, we pride ourselves on the variety and quality of our dishes. Continuous research and careful selection of ingredients are at the heart of our gastronomic approach, and it is surprising to hear that this was not your experience. As for maintenance, we are deeply committed to ensuring all facilities are in optimal condition. While we conduct regular checks and upkeep, we wish you had brought these concerns to our attention during your stay. Doing so would have allowed us to address them promptly and ensure your comfort. Reporting these observations after your visit, while still valuable, limits our ability to rectify issues in real time. Finally, safety remains a cornerstone of our commitment to guest satisfaction. Our pools are subject to regular reviews to ensure they remain secure and enjoyable spaces for all. Lifeguards are thoroughly trained and dedicate their attention to maintaining a safe environment. We are proud of the service and environment we offer, and while it is encouraging to see many positives highlighted in your review, we also acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. Warm regards, The Management

This is a huge, sprawling hotel so be aware and able (and prepared) to walk possibly 3/400 yards from Reception to and from your room and up to 3/400 yards more to and from where your car is parked.

The room itself was of perfectly adequate size (the bathroom more so even) with a comfortable bed, uncomfortable settee, intermittent smell of drains, great water pressure but exceedingly poor WiFi.

Facilities are excellent and the grounds attractive and really well maintained with access to a walkway into town and out toward a lighthouse.

However, the food was not up to par notwithstanding the size of many of the guests (and must admit we were left questioning when did tattoos become more the norm?)!!
The main buffet is adequate with a huge and varied choice but the “speciality restaurants”, for those who do not pay to upgrade to Privilege status (not good value), and can get into them (booking as a non Privilege member virtually impossible), are truly awful! Some of the complaints would be - Limited menu choice which should, but does not, lead to better cooking. Poor quality ingredients. Over boiled vegetables. Steak as tough as old boots. Tasteless sauces of stock cubes and undercooked cornflour.
Bars, which are very reasonably priced incidentally, would make more money if there were more waiters employed (presuming they are not in short supply on the Island of course) and the wifi used to do their ordering was more efficient!

Privilege Lounge would benefit from some person being there, at least at busy times, as, contrary to the small notice requesting it, some people do not clear up after themselves. Also, in the early evenings, the offering of sweets/nuts/crisps during the day goes missing and maybe a selection of small nibbles at that time would not overstretch the budget but validate the cost of membership?!

ALL the staff at reception, maintenance, hospitality, in catering (bar one being the surly one in the steak bar), and in cleaning were professional, fantastic and prepared to go the extra mile with smiles on their faces at all times.

Dear Ustaritz, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at H10 Rubicón Palace. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated our spacious facilities, beautifully maintained gardens, and, above all, the professionalism and friendliness of our staff, who always strive to create exceptional experiences for our guests. H10 Rubicón Palace is known for its expansive layout, designed to provide guests with plenty of space, tranquility, and access to a variety of amenities. While many of our visitors enjoy the hotel’s size and direct access to the coastal promenade, we understand that the distances between some areas may not suit everyone. For future visits, we’d be happy to assign you a room closer to the areas you frequent most, subject to availability. Regarding your comments on the dining experience, we are sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations, particularly in the themed restaurants. While our main buffet is designed to offer a wide variety of options, we will share your feedback with our culinary team to address the areas of improvement you’ve highlighted, including ingredient quality and preparation. As for the Privilege Lounge, we appreciate your suggestions and will review how we can enhance the experience, including better availability of snacks in the evenings and improved attention during busy times. We have also taken note of your feedback about the WiFi and service in the bars. These areas are important to us, and we are actively working to optimize connectivity and streamline service to ensure a smoother guest experience. Thank you for your kind words about our team. Their dedication and positive attitude are indeed a cornerstone of what we offer, and it’s wonderful to see their efforts recognized. We wish you the best experience during your next holidays. Kind regards, The Management.

This is a large hotel with over 600 rooms in low rise accommodation so covers a considerable area. About 60 minutes walk to the main Playa Blanca area and beach. Although there is a beach about 30 minutes in that direction, but that has no umbrellas, sun beds, etc. or shade.
We had a superior deluxe sea view room (2313) located in Block D some way from Reception and Restaurants. The room was clean and well maintained comprising large balcony overlooking sea with table chairs and sun beds. Room itself had a large comfortable super king sized bed, sofa bed/setae, Room safe, Kettle, Coffee making machine, mini bar fridge, flat screen TV, wardrobe plus plenty of storage, Bathroom with Shower (no bath), Basin, WC, Bidet with complimentary toiletries, robe and slippers.
There are good and not so good things about this hotel. The hotel is set in very attractive grounds with large swimming pools including a heated outdoor pool. Everything is well maintained and staff are all friendly and helpful plus speak English.

Upon arrival it took us 25 minutes to check in - very frustrating - Reception staff are also responsible for receiving incoming phone calls therefore constant interruptions - very frustrating for us and the large queue behind us. Upon completing Check Inn we were sent to front door where we were supposed be be transporter by buggy with cases to our room - after 15 minutes wait we gave up and walked there - a considerable distance especially with cases.
We had a 7 night stay which entitled us to 3 visits to the Theme Restaurants - Italian, Asian an Steakhouse. We tried to book immediately upon arrival, but steakhouse closed and only 1 available session at Asian on our 7th night which we booked - after that all gone. There was some availability at the Italian which was pretty average and not an "event" however Asian was good.
There is, I believe, supposed to be 2 Buffet areas for breakfast, Lunch and evening meal: Janubio and Tabaiba. However Tabaiba was closed for the duration of our stay so Janubio was very very busy during peak times - uncomfortably so. Quality of food was mixed some very good, some not so good and often long queues for freshly cooked. Some of the buffet food was not warm especially at breakfast.
You are a bit restricted if you wish to eat at a restaurant away from the Hotel in view of the distance to the main Playa Blanca area.
We left the hotel not feeling particularly positive towards it re. the overall experience. We will not be returning. We have previously stayed a 3 H10 Hotels and I would put this one in third place.

The staff are, in general, unhappy at their work. Most are curt, despite the fact that we make the effort to speak in Spanish and are very polite and respectful. Noah, in the pool bar is the exception to this. He was very pleasant and friendly.
The wifi signal is poor throughout the property and the hotel is tired - broken tiles, chipped furniture, dirty walls. The pipe below our wash hand basin leaked and the floor was constantly flooded.
The size of the resort, means that it is a long walk to and from your room, and my keycard failed three times in four days, which was most frustrating.
Some chambermaids left fresh water, some did not. There is no consistency.
The sports bar opens at 8.00pm - when the sport for the day is over.
The spa is underutilised and there is a charge of €25 per person for two hours. The gym equipment needs to be refreshed - broken bike saddles and only one functioning treadmill.
The buffet food was good but the speciality Italian was poor - lasagne with no layers, nor pasta for instance. Check in took 40 minutes. You would have thought that they were surprised to see us arriving.
The lobby/piano bar is lovely and the evening entertainment was good. The pools are lovely.
In general, this hotel is not five star. It might be four, at a push.

A relaxing stay as a solo traveller! Having previously lived and worked in Lanzarote, I chose to stay at the H10 Rubicon Palace. The hotel offers great facilities, including a number of salt water swimming pools (both activity, family and chill out).

The staff are a credit to the hotel, from the poolside, lifeguards, guest relations/reception and the restaurant staff - all smiling, polite and friendly. All will look out for you!

I really liked the main restaurant (Janubio) ambience was very nice on an evening, lovely outdoor seating overlooking the pool. Food quality and choice was amazing! Avoiding peak times makes the restaurant a calmer experience & book the speciality dining earlier when you arrive for availability.

Location, a walk of around 35 minutes along the promenade takes you into Playa Blanca or a 5 minute taxi ride (a few €). Id recommend an evening in Playa Blanca, the promenade has some great little bars.

Rooms are clean, spacious and modern - can be cleaned daily and it is a nice added touch to receive little gestures throughout your stay as a Club H10 member. I think the Sea View upgrades are a must, views across the ocean to Fuerteventura and Lobos island.

Use of the H10 app to book speciality restaurants (Italian, American/Steakhouse & Asian), Dinner Show and has all FAQ’s and hotel information.

Thank you for a great stay, I look forward to returning!

Return from 2 weeks here with family. We were here last year too so knew what to expect. Yes they have a 5 str rating but please do not expect 5 star in this hotel. It is 4 star. Location there is a gorgeous beach bar of the back of the hotel and turn right less than a 5 min walk. Turn left and there is a lovely walk 20 mins to flamingo beach where there are some bars restaurants and supermarkets and a lovely little beach. We got taxis to town centre and marina.
Rooms I wouldn't say are cleaned, towels are changed and beds are made, that's it. 4 of us in our room and every other day incorrect number of towels left so repeatedly had to make phone calls to reception sometimes they arrived sometimes they didn't which is very frustrating.
Pool area although the ground is hosed down every morning and I seen this happen every day, I did see a review say it was never done. It still didn't take the dirt off the ground, not sure if it's the salt from the pools but don't walk around the pool area without something on your feet or thru will be dirty. Sun loungers need to be all binned.
We sat at the heated pool every day and had no bother getting loungers at 9am, no sunbed wars in this hotel.
The grounds are beautiful
and well kept.
Restaurants ill start with buffet good selection of food and had no complaints apart from majority of the staff, I know they are under pressure but a smile wouldn't go a stray! Also hard to grab someone to order drinks.
Asian restaurant was good and staff are very nice.
Italian restaurant staff were rude, food mediocre.
Didn't eat in steak restaurant as the reviews were so bad.
Piano bar was our highlight. Service was very good not sure why people complain, server Aran was terrific and looked after us so well for our 2 weeks, smiles, chats and very fast service even remembered our order every night and there was 10 of us in our group. If you order cocktails they are all made fresh so expect a 10 min or so wait, rather that than slop cocktails.
Toilets at pool were disgraceful. Hand dryer in the one womens toilet beside snack bar didn't work and actually didn't work last year so clearly has never been fixed.
Toilets near heated pool the floor was always flooded so avoided that.
Toilets at buffet restaurant, womens were fine, mens was closed for our entire stay so not sure what toilet the men were meant to use. Overall there are not enough toilets for the size of the hotel.
Didn't use kids clubs this year but feel the animation team could walk around and try get kids involved more.
Hotel has potential and could be brought to 5 star with adjustments.
We enjoyed our holiday but won't be returning, If you want 5 star look elsewhere.

Structure: very beautiful with fantastic views.
Playa Blanca can be reached with a splendid walk along the seafront of about 35 minutes, alternatively 5 minutes by car.
Swimming pools: many are beautiful, there are also those suitable for children, but only one is heated. Unfortunately the swimming pools are not adequately monitored... anarchy reigns supreme with the consequent penalization of polite people, specifically: people playing ball in the water taking up half the pool, sunbeds always occupied by towels, presence of glasses and food waste everywhere.
Catering: the food, considering that we are talking about continental cuisine whose users are predominantly English, is good. We didn't try the pasta for obvious reasons ;-) but we always managed to find something we liked.
The restaurants are nothing special, in fact... maybe the buffet is better...
Unfortunately, it should be noted that the room was never very clean....
Rooms: beautiful, but avoid the ground floor in order to have a bit of privacy (there is a nice little terrace).
General cleanliness: a sore point is that the stairs leading to the rooms, the swimming pool area and the refreshment room were always dirty or in any case not well cleaned.
The cleaning of the room is carried out in a careless and superficial manner.
Staff: this is what we liked least, there doesn't seem to be a general guideline, each employee does their own thing a bit, therefore creating a certain confusion (reception included..)
The lack of preparation and dedication of the dining room staff was embarrassing, many seemed almost annoyed, except for a few figures.
Notes: they give the possibility of taking water bottles to be filled with water at various points of the hotel for a fee...forget it, it's a nice idea but you will find yourself begging for water around......
Parking: present, free. It would be advisable to delimit the parking lots with visible lines in order to avoid "imaginative" parking.
In general ... the place is nice but at least in our opinion it is not what you would expect from a 5 star ... the staff in these structures is very important so we should invest much more in this aspect.
