We couldn't fault the hotel in general, it was clean, staff were friendly and helpful, food was good for an all-inclusive. Our only disappointment was our Superior Family Room was overlooking a neighbouring hotel that was being refurbished and all we could see were building materials and rubbish - for a Superior room I wouldn't have expected this. That aside,...

We had a very nice stay and is fantastic for children. The room was comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space for a family of 4. The food was very nice with plenty of choice but could be cool if you go before the majority have. Lots of options and freshly made in front of you. Bit disappointed with the Italian...

Overall an OK hotel, but to call it 5* is a stretch. We stayed for 10 nights just before Easter. Positives: 1. Overall the staff were friendly 2. The main pool (although ridiculously cramped in terms of sunbeds) was warm and the kids enjoyed it. 3. The selection of foods at mealtimes was quite varied overall and the salads were...

As all inclusive go it was excellent. Very comfy room. Wifi was free and excellent throughout. Food was perfectly nice but limited choice. Hot food generally 'cool'. Chinese restaurant was best meal of stay - Tokyo duck was as good as at home! Staff first class. Adult only area was an oasis. Very good holiday.

Recently visited this hotel, 2 adults and two children (3 years and 7 months) and from the moment we entered the reception area we were greeted with genuine hospitality. Welcoming drink for the adults and soft drink for the toddler. Everything was so efficient a porter on a buggy transported our luggage, we had booked a Merlin Room, parents this...

We have been to Playa Blanca a few times and enjoy it for an Easter Break as you usually get some nice sun and a good standard of accommodation. This year we decided to go '5 star' and splash out to stay at the Gran Castillo as it was a special family occasion. We enjoyed our holiday all in all...

This is my 3rd time at this hotel with my Mum and 13year old son. I usually give this hotel 5stars but this year I cannot as it has been ruined by the family and fun status it now has. The positives Fabulous junior suite with amazing sea view - brought a tear to my eye-massive balcony - beautiful room...

We spent 10 days in this hotel over the Easter break with our two children aged 6 and 9. Our room was a superior double room with an ocean view. We normally prefer a separate room for ourselves from the kids, but weren't given the option when booking with an agent. However, the room was spacious and the bathroom was...

Not a great experience... Is this how you treat return guests? Well where do I start? Not a great experience!! We visited this hotel at the same time during Easter 2016 with my daughter, husband and granddaughter and really enjoyed it..So having just retired we decided to treat all the family for a 10 night holiday over Easter. We decided...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Like a grand castle which majestically dominates the seascape of the AtlanticOcean and its islands, the magnificent GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO is erected in the charming area of Playa Blanca, in the south of the volcanic isle par excellence: Lanzarote. With the conviction that elegance and comfort should come naturally, this Hotel is a tribute to 16th century Canary history and colonial architecture, inspired by the "Castle of San José" and the typical landscape of the island, blending in with the environment. The building is divided into different zones which maintain their colonial style, where the white facades and volcanic stone contrast with the backdrop of the deep blue ocean. A charming interior courtyard of Arab inspiration bathes the reception area with light, and the contemporary décor and pale colours create a warm and very elegant atmosphere. GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO pampers every detail of the rooms and suites, which have breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding scenery. They are decorated in a contemporary style, with marine touches, light-coloured wood and pale colours, creating a pleasant atmosphere full of light. The discerning selection of restaurants and cuisines serve Canary, national and international specialities. There are conference rooms featuring spearhead technology, and various outdoor zones for events of different kinds. The "Vitanova SPA" thalassotherapy centre provides the benefits of thermal seawater, and specific treatments for the body and soul. The Hotel features a wide range of facilities and services. ... more   less
