Like a grand castle which majestically dominates the seascape of the AtlanticOcean and its islands, the magnificent GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO is erected in the charming area of Playa Blanca, in the south of the volcanic isle par excellence: Lanzarote. With the conviction that elegance and comfort should come naturally, this Hotel is a tribute to 16th century Canary history and colonial architecture, inspired by the "Castle of San José" and the typical landscape of the island, blending in with the environment. The building is divided into different zones which maintain their colonial style, where the white facades and volcanic stone contrast with the backdrop of the deep blue ocean. A charming interior courtyard of Arab inspiration bathes the reception area with light, and the contemporary décor and pale colours create a warm and very elegant atmosphere. GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO pampers every detail of the rooms and suites, which have breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding scenery. They are decorated in a contemporary style, with marine touches, light-coloured wood and pale colours, creating a pleasant atmosphere full of light. The discerning selection of restaurants and cuisines serve Canary, national and international specialities. There are conference rooms featuring spearhead technology, and various outdoor zones for events of different kinds. The "Vitanova SPA" thalassotherapy centre provides the benefits of thermal seawater, and specific treatments for the body and soul. The Hotel features a wide range of facilities and services.

Literally can not find a single fault with this hotel. The staff- every single one of them are so polite and can’t do enough for you. The food was great, we particularly enjoyed the Italian restaurant. Our room was huge and spotlessly cleaned every day so the 5 of us had plenty of space. It’s a big resort and took us a couple of days to find short cuts to our room- there are lots of steps/ slopes but ample lifts. It’s definitely a family resort so lots of little ones charging around- we don’t mind this because our teens were once that age. There are adult only areas if you want some peace and quiet.. We have visited Lanzarote before so know our way around- there is a beautiful walk from the hotel to the marina then into the town. Taxis are only €4 though. We just had the best time, they honestly have thought of everything here to give you the most relaxing holiday- we will definitely return!

Hotel's Favourite
Another fantastic stay at Gran Tagoro. This hotel make it very hard not to come back. The value for money is very hard to turn down. We were slightly worried this year wouldn't be as good as our previous two trips, given current Covid situation, but we weren't let down at all. As usual, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the grounds are so well maintained. The staff are fantastic. They can't do enough to help you - from the cleaners to the bar staff, restaurant staff, entertainment team etc. This also extends to the staff in reservations who were so helpful with rescheduling our 2020 holiday to 2021 (due to Covid), despite having paid a non-refundable rate, which of course was a great reflection on the hotel/management too. Choice and quality of food and drink is fantastic. Facilities available are great. We had a fantastic time. Bonus that the Italian re-opened just before we arrived. Some of the highlights - steak in the Italian! Candylicious entertainment around the pool, the pools themselves, the never ending supply of delicious food (burgers at the pool bar particularly good and Chinese night in the buffet), one singer whose name escapes me but did all the 'Diva classics' outside and was unreal, the beach next to the hotel (the one to the left - not the one right beside it). We never ventured out to it before but certainly will the next time. It's like paradise!! And I don't usually like beaches!!, kayaking/snorkelling trip booked with company next door, mojitos back on the AI menu (albeit some could be a bit sweet at times!), inflatable in the pool. Things we missed/would like - would like to see more entertainment outdoors (or at least some background music) but I believe the time of year we went was very windy so was the reason behind this. Would love to see the 'Chinese' re-open for another restaurant option. That is missed. Covid meant the pool tables weren't available which I know the older kids missed which was a shame. The return of the pool tables and maybe a little 'teen' area for kids to meet would be great. Most people I spoke to or overheard were on their 2nd, 3rd 4th....visit to the hotel. That speaks for itself and we hope to be returning for our 4th trip in 2022! Thanks to all for a great stay - it was well needed!!

Definitely not worth the money. on the last day when we were leaving we noticed that money had been missing ,the safe didn’t lock properly it could be opened with any code. My partner left his wallet in the room as we were leaving and when he went back to get it the maid had emptied it all out and taken his bank card and put it down her bra. She didn’t ring reception or bring it straight down she was stealing it. The majority of staff were rude , this we can deal with but when it comes to stealing this is not acceptable.

A big birthday family holiday, was enhanced by the all round service of this terrific family orientated hotel. The staff in all areas were top notch, from check-in to leaving. The restaurant staffed by an excellent team and over seen by the very passionate and communicative head chef provided good food at every service. Can't recommend the hotel highly enough

I would suggest this is better suited to families than couples/singles although there are quiet areas. Food was excellent with a different theme every night and something for everyone. We didn’t go for the drinks upgrade but don’t feel we missed out. The entertainment got better every night. The cinema was great. The pools were great. Usual stress getting a sunbed of course. There is an hour for inflatables each day. We forgot to try the Italian as it was always booked but that’s our fault for not persevering. The pool toilets could get smelly by the end of the day and one ladies not having a lock was annoying. Staff were amazing. Could have done with an extra sofa in the room (the kids bed is a double sofa). All in all - Expensive but probably worth it.

We are literally just back from a 10 day holiday at this hotel. We had a great time, our children are 2, 4 and years...they were in the water all day long! - Good choice of pools, heated and pleasant -snack bar was great for a handy bite during the day -all inclusive drinks were fab -staff so friendly.....especially the kids club staff, our kids never went to the kids club so I can't comment but seemed busy -5d cinema was a great hit with our 8 year old! -wee park on site for kids, also one just up by the wee shops -wee shop on sire, handy for water pistols, nlocal supermarket is prov cheapest for lilos -lilos are only allowed between 1230-2 -lifeguards at pool -small beach so close -lovely walk along to the market at the Marina...Weds and Sat. -Reception staff very attentive when we had an issue with our patio door -Playa Dorada Beach about 5mins in a taxi, though they will only take 3 and don't forget your face mask -Nice evening atmosphere..though we didn't really stay for any entertainment -it is a massive layout and takes a day or 2 to get you way around, busy ask,dnt let that put you off -Plenty of excursions around if you choose to head out, but we actually didn't,it was maximum chill -Food was good,as with any AI, a bit repetitive...but certainly no complaints from us and they had oat kiln which was great. -plenty of icecream on tap! -rooms were kept spotless, daily. I think my only comment would be the beds...not comfortable in my opinion.

Really nice hotel in a good location. We had a sea view superior room which was fabulous. Have to say the room was unbelievable . Definitely pay the extra for sea view . Everything was good - drinks etc and was surprised the branded spirits were incl , staff were nice . The main pool was a bit too cold for me and you’d be shivering getting into it and out of it . Should be more heated . You could see kids with their has chattering . Food options in the buffet were good but you get a bit fed up with it after a while . Italian restaurant was hit and miss . Music around the main pool was annoying and kid wasn’t able to nap a couple of days as we could hear it in the room. Kids club also was out of the way . Would like to have it in a place where you could see them and make sure they were getting on ok. All in all w lovely place that could make a few small improvements to make it excellent

We have just returned from the Gran Castillo at Lanzarote, and wanted to share our experience. As the first holiday with a child travelling with us (our neice) and her parents, we were aware the holiday would be different. The hotel was fantastic for children. There were areas of the facilities dedicated to children and families, but also dedicated adult only areas. This meant it was great to get some downtime. If travelling with kids, there is the option to utilize the hotel kids club. The all inclusive food and drink selections were great, we found there was something for everyone. As we don't like much seafood, it can be difficult, but the vegetarian selection and other meat selections were good. The main reason for the lack of 5 stars was due to the hotel room itself. The rooms we had were large, and spacious. The room me and my wife had unfortunately was loud (we believe there was the pool plant nearby), and through the night, there was noice which affected me as a light sleeper. The worst part of the room was the bed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and was two individual beds, not one larger bed. My wife can sleep most places but on the first night struggled, due to the springs been felt, and the bed wobbling. I swapped and had a really bad sleep. We discussed with the hotel, and the room service team put a thin topper on which helped a bit, but didn't fix the bed. We were reluctant to move rooms (as we had fully unpacked) which meant I had a week of really poor sleep, this has also led to a problem with my back, which now requires physiotherapy. The other room our family had were using the sofa bed, which was also really uncomfortable, and the frame could be felt through the mattress. We rented the Bali beds on 3 days, and these were really comfy, so much so I considered taking a mattress. If the hotel could improve the bed quality, the hotel would be so much better, and would have got 5 stars from me.

The star grading in this hotel has me puzzled. I’ve stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and was delighted with the whole experience, so when the hotel contacted me with an offer to return at a lot cheaper rate than I’d previously paid I jumped at the chance. I now know why the price was what it was. Never a 5 star hotel in a million years anymore, some nice touches remain, the staff are very nice in every area of the hotel and the rooms are attended to every day. The food, drinks & entertainment have gone downhill somewhat post Covid. The place now has a completely different clientele, with dozens& dozens of unruly and ‘scruffy’ children charging around the place, unsupervised with absolutely no manners or etiquette. The restaurant (especially at breakfast) now reminds me of troops of monkeys in a zoo at feeding time. I’m no snob by any means, nor am I picky but I just say it as I see it. It’s not bad but if you’re expecting 5 star you will be disappointed. I’d give it 3.5 stars in all honesty
