Breakfast was very poor. Only warm option was undercooked bacon and rubbery scrambled eggs. Otherwise just sliced cheese and sliced plastic ham with cold pastry or bread, and cornflakes. Orange juice very weak packet powdery stuff. Been here six mornings and had two coffees. Don't go B&B, walk 200 yards on the strip and there are loads of options. Basic rooms, but comfortable enough. If you're here for the TV, forget it, it's all German channels or Sky News International. The staff are pleasant and helpful enough. No entertainment, no music around the pool. The bar by the pool is understocked and poorly presented, although it's not owned by the hotel and is a private company. The pool is nice, however, be warned, the deep end is over 9 foot deep with no markings. By far the best thing about this hotel is its location. Walk left out of the back gate, go for 50 yards, and down the steps to a beautiful beach to laze your days away should you wish.…
The Hotel have a very good location. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Unfortunately we were received by a receptionist not very nice, is name is Bruno. The swimming pool very good.
Luar Hotel is a beautiful hotel, food is lovely, especially the snack bar. Entertainment in brilliant, if you have children it is perfect for you. The animation team are great and fun, in particular daisy! The staff here do not speak great English so there may be a communication problem if you only speak English. The spa is absolutely amazing, we had a Turkish bath here and it was great. Infinity pool is a really nice day and is not as expensive as advertised so do not worry about the price, it’s worth every penny. Not too far from Saturday markets which is fantastic. Private beach is busy but lovely and the sand is really nice on the feet 😂. Overall would recommend staying at Luar!
Just stayed for a night after a sailing course in Portimao. Welcoming check in, clean and decent sized room, and a nice pool with plenty of sun beds. Well located for restaurants and the beach. My only criticism is that the cooked breakfast was a bit limited - but that’s probably because I’m carb free.
The group of us stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The hotel is up to dated. The rooms are ok size fridge was loud and dirty. The smell sometimes in room was unbearable as stank of rotten pipes. The cleaners didn't even cleaned it the floor properly as it was full of sand.AND THE CLEANERS ARE THIEF IN THIS HOTEL AS MY JEWELLERY AND MY RINGS WERE STOLEN knowing I never took them from hotel. The one cleaner was caught sitting on her phone instead of cleaning the room. The breakfast was very very ças there was nothing what to choose. My advice avoid this hotel at any cost,
Lovely hotel. Clean rooms, could do with updating but considering we are just out of a pandemic it could be put off till everything is back up and running. Hotel is in a great location. Beautiful beach across from the back entrance. I would definitely return. Staff all seemed polite and friendly.
Great hotel for the price good size room and balcony Breakfast is limited not many options the rooms are very clean you get towels and soaps and shampoo toilet roll the minibar items are cheap enough the bedding gets changed depending on your stay duration we got wifi everywhere in the hotel You do get a fridge in the room this did shut off when you take your card out of the slot and with you the hotel has a lift the back gate leads to the beach it's beautiful loads of places to eat and get food we walked down to the Marina so many places to eat we went to the water front restaurant it's fantastic great price food staff were lovely very accommodating welcoming and knowledgeable We had two days of rain then sun everyday . The hotel pool was open bar also was open start of the week very quiet then the area picked up loads of shops selling souvenirs and drinks ice cream there is a spar shop and a sports shop that sells football items and t-shirts loads of beach items for sale at the shops and stalls The hotel has got parking outside and has bus stops that can take you to a shopping mall and other beautiful places very cheaply its about 3 euros for two people travelling one way also note Saturday is only 5 buses running Sunday none at all and the buses only run up until about 7pm 7:30 pm so one night we got a taxi back to the hotel it was only 6 euros, we also seen the museum and took a boat trip to see the dolphins and caves the views are breathtaking its been a great week - the air conditioning at the hotel is brilliant Not hotel related but you do get harassed in the street from people selling drugs we must of been asked 14 time just walking from our hotel to the shops one evening it actually made me want to just get back to the hotel ! Its been continuously for 7 days not just at night they sit waiting for you to walk by they sit outside other hotels in Praia da Rocha this hotel is located away from the strip thankfully but as you walk from the hotel towards restaurants and shops they are there we travelled away from this area daily to avoid this happening and only really went to the shops if we needed too its an absolute shame but you never know how people behave or react repeatedly being told no thanks! The Marina did not have this problem and the area can be located walking along the beach down multiple entry points via steps also has decking running along a small play area and beach work out area all along the walk to the Marina…
The hotel is excellently located just near to the beach. It is well priced and the rooms are a good size. However the interior of the rooms is quite tired, the television in the room is small by 2010 sizes and the breakfast is exceptionally limited. There is no fresh juice, no pastries and little in the way of hot food asides from scambled eggs and bacon. Simply adding a croissant option would have transformed the breakfast experience. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Parking is on road and free but can be difficult to find if checking in in the middle of the day
We have just returned home from a lovely week in The Luar Hotel The location and cleanliness were top class a special mention to the cleaning lady on level 5 fantastic friendly service The rooms very adequate in what we required the pool area absolutely fantastic breakfast basic staff not overly friendly in breakfast or bar at night but we still had a lovely time and will definitely return
I chose this hotel as a late substitute for a trip to Spain as Portugal was a Green country as rated by the UK. The less said about that the better 🤬 I think the reviews are fair. It is a good 3 star hotel. No thrills but the rooms are clean with good balconies. I had a side sea view room (they don't have full sea views rooms) on the third floor (317). This room has sun from early afternoon until the sun sets behind a very nice neighbouring apartment block (currently empty). This is what I asked for and was very happy with it. It had great views. I also think it is at the nicer end of Praia de Rocha where the better restaurants are. The free WiFi worked in the room and by the pool. Better than expected. The pool area is great. Lots of space and always sun loungers available. The pool was a tad fresh but still way warmer than the sea! The beach couldn't be closer. Down some cliff steps just outside the hotel rear garden exit. Note, all the beaches are down steps so not the best resort if you have mobility issues. I had no need to use reception as I had no problems at all throughout my stay. The cleaners cleaned my room daily changing the towels every other day and the bed linen every third day. Breakfast was fine and is the same every day. Cereals, bread/toast/rolls, marmalade, jam, honey, ham, cheese, scrambled egg, streaky bacon (lightly cooked, not crispy), apples, oranges, orange squash (not juice), tea and coffee. I bought fresh figs from a fruit seller very close to the hotel and Greek yogurt from the Spar to jazz up my breakfast! Please, please, please provide orange juice and not squash next time! Top Tip - go on a 12 cafe boat trip......simply stunning!! Also bring a travel kettle if you like tea/coffee in your room. I do and I did! You have a fridge in your room for milk, beer, wine, etc, which you can drink on your balcony but not by the pool (as you must purchase food and drink from the pool cafe/bar). Warnings - the fridge hums a bit and the Aircon hums to so if you are a light sleeper be warned/ bring earplugs. The rooms at the front of the hotel with no seaview are also on a busiest room so you'll get a bit of noise from that too. Overall I'd recommend this hotel for a budget break and I would use it again 🤩…
