My partner and I booked for a 2 night stay. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Check in was quick. Staff had great knowledge of area suggestions for eats and drinks. Room spacious, absolutely massive bed. Kitchen area bathroom spotless clean. Thank you to staff on all levels for a great stay.
We stayed at the Hotel De Rocha in Portimao, what can I say we were welcomed and the hotel is situated at the doorstep to everything! The beach is across the road, shops and restaurants, bars are within a 5 mins walk. The hotel rooms are well equipped and spacious with a kitchenette and iron where needed. It was my birthday during the trip and we arrived back to a lovely bottle of wine and cake, which was a surprise:)) Thankyou all for a lovely stay.
Superb rooms with enormous beds. A bathroom with a bath (so many hotels advertise a bathroom but give you a shower room) . Friendly staff and a huge breakfast buffet. I’d book here again…a place where the staff care.
The hotel was very clean and the location is outstanding, steps from the beach! The staff is very friendly and always greeted us with a smile. They were very helpful. The restaurant onsite is very, very good!!
We’ve stayed here previously and the hotel was just as good as we remembered. Clean and calm, courteous staff, excellent service and wonderful views. Praia da Rocha is now, with one well hidden exception, a strip of tacky sports bars and Irish pubs. If you’re looking for rowdy evenings you’ll love it. If you’re searching for a Portuguese experience look elsewhere - in another town.
Large family sized room with all the required amenities, including two tv’s. Pillows are fab. Breakfast selection was wide and varied, with a great finishing time of 10.30 each day. Staff were helpful and friendly, only downside was non-heated pool and no hot tub.
I agree with the majority of reviews here. This hotel has all that is needed for a nice holiday. Excellent location, very clean and staff helpful. We stayed bed and breakfast and as everybody says the breakfast is 10/10. We did not use the pool or fitness room so cannot comment. We did not eat at night at the hotel as we wanted to sample the various restaurants nearby. Praia Da Rocha is a fine resort, excellent beach, beautiful cliff walks with a new boardwalk the length of the beach. Nearby places to visit are Alvor,a lovely village with plenty of restaurants, Portimao (big shopping centre Aqua), Praia da Vau lovely quiet beach which one can access by a cliff walk. There is a taxi rank beside the hotel and they are reasonable, (Alvor around eleven euro). As one would expect some restaurants are excellent but others are disappointing. The places we visited were Restaurante Sol (very good), Adreis (excellent), Vinhos & Camidhas (avoid), Steakhouse Hollywood (avoid), Steakhouse Faustino in Alvor (excellent), Jupiter Hotel (very good). The temperatures in October were around 22 degrees every day, partly sunny, very pleasant. Overall a lovely place to stay and you will not be disappointed with Hotel Da Rocha…
2nd time staying at this hotel and would go back again good location although the room we had was at the back of hotel and never got much of the sun as we were out most of the day it was nice to come back and sit in the shade to cool down ,good choice at breakfast ,and hotel reception very helpfull ,so would recommend hotel .
We are disappointed with the standard of our room (staying in #208). For over $300/night, we expect our accommodation to be comfortable, clean, and in working order. The room I booked is supposed to accommodate 3 adults (myself, my husband, and my mum); however, the extra bed is barely a cot that might be appropriate for a child and not an adult. It’s under 70cm (or 27in) wide. The bathroom is in a poor state with dirty, mouldy tub and tiles, no tap to fill the bathtub, and no working ventilation. The room and bathroom amenities are very limited: no tea or coffee, no water (other than to purchase from the mini bar), only soap, lotion and shower cap in the bathroom. Certainly not up to standard of a 4* hotel. Here’s a little tidbit about the neighbourhood (partying outside the hotel): The other night an egg was thrown and crashed on our balcony door, I notified the front office and the window was cleaned; however, some egg still remains on the wall. On a positive note, our room has a fairly large balcony with a side view of the ocean and the beach (it has a table, but only 2 chairs). Location is good, across the street from the beach, on the promenade, close to many restaurants and shops, but being in the hotel zone, it’s a bit outside of town (a short taxi ride).…
Had a lovely stay in this hotel great staff lovely room stayed in room 701 clean modern large room with fantastic views to the beach and sea Would definitely book this hotel for our next trip Thank you for the birthday treat!
