We arrived just before NY eve for a short getaway in the sun . We had a private transfer from Faro airport which took about 50 mins . Check in was smooth and very helpful. We chose our breakfast and dinner slots whilst we had a glass of complimentary wine. Our room was very large with a nice terrace with a table and chairs . Even thought it is Dec / Jan this was still a nice spot for some warm winter sun. A lovely powerful shower with plenty of toiletries . Beds were twin , pushed together- but this was ok. Kettle and fridge provided and the shop opposite the hotel had a good choice of water , snacks and beer . Mealtimes were well organised with plenty to choose from . Possibly a little understaffed, but this could be due to the holiday season . NY gala dinner was wonderful, plenty of food and drink , although dessert served at 11.30PM was a little late . We didn’t venture in the pool , as it was freezing , but we did walk down to the beach every day and even had a paddle .…

The hotel is lovely. The rooms and common areas are very clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly, dedicated in what they do and always willing to help. The food is varied and very good. At this hotel you will have an occasion to try the local dishes and delicious Portuguese products. The hotel is located at the sea and most of the rooms offer a stunning sea view. It is worth mentioning that at the hotel you can also find the oriental wellness offering spa treatments – a hidden gem where you can rejuvenate, relax or/and get rid of body aches and pains. Joanna – an amazing therapist offers a variety of treatments and makes sure they result in great effects! I really recommend this place. Was a surprisingly above-expectations stay with very friendly and attentive staff (especially on the front desk) and a great price for the room that included breakfast and dinner and a bottle of wine - will definitely return - thanks for a great couple of days

We have just spent three weeks at the AP Oriental Hotel. As we left, my husband asked if three weeks had been the right choice. 'No’, I replied. ‘We should have stayed for longer!’ The Oriental is a wonderful hotel. It has all of the comforts of a very decent four star hotel with the added advantage of authentic and beautiful furnishings in all of the public areas. The view of the beach at Praia da Rocha is fabulous. The restaurant terrace and the pool areas in this adults only space, are quiet, calm and utterly relaxing. The rooms are spacious and spotless, with the added advantage of a powerful shower and a bed that is very comfortable. The food is absolutely delicious. Breakfast provides a casual start to the day with fizz for those who wish to indulge and pleasant background music provided by a very capable pianist. Dinner consists of an extensive international buffet with distinctly different options each night. Fish and meat dishes are cooked to perfection and there are ample options for vegetarian and vegan travellers. High quality ingredients, creative cooking, beautiful presentation and the reasonable price of drinks makes for an outstanding dining experience. The hotel serves an international community and the easy and relaxed mixing of cultures and languages is a wonderful and enriching experience. Everything I have written could be said of many top end hotels. So what makes this hotel different? The AP Oriental Hotel has an atmosphere quite unlike many vacation destinations. This environment is created by the amazing staff who conduct themselves in a manner that is highly commendable. ALL staff are keen to help, friendly and cheerful. There are no exceptions! They work together make your stay memorable. Special mentions must go to the staff who we met every day of our holiday. I hope that this poem provides a small token of our thanks to you all! Rute gave us a great start to our day, Always working hard Helpful in every way Music at breakfast was sublime Our pianist perfected every line Thank you for performing with such grace You brought great joy into the place Marcela’s enthusiasm made everybody smile Sadly, she hasn’t been home for a quite a while Bruno lived in Preston He’s watchful and he’s keen Any place would be really glad To have him on their team Yvonne so pretty and bright Also served at dinner every night She’s off to Brazil at the end so the year To see her family who she holds so dear. Stunning hotel, with very friendly staff, very clean, excellent food, the room was quite large with plenty of wardrobe space and a safe. The decor in the hotel was stunning, so relaxing, a very comfortable hotel. Definitely a hotel to return to. Unfortunately we had to return home early due to a family emergency and the staff on reception couldn't have been more helpful to us, thank you to them.

Having just returned from 11 nights at the Oriental, I wanted to just say what a wonderful holiday we had. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed by wonderful staff on reception. We were offered a glass of wine each while we checked in. We were shown to our room, which exceeded expectations. It was spacious, well equipped, the balcony was bigger than we have usually had elsewhere, there were two sun loungers and a table and chairs on it. The view was amazing, we were facing the beach and sea. Wonderful! I did wonder if the hotel would be noisy because of the ‘atrium’, but absolutely not, once we were in our room we never heard a thing. We were half board, and enjoyed the meals very much. As a vegetarian, there was plenty for me to choose from. At breakfast, a pianist played every morning, and it was lovely as it was very subtle, and not too loud. Three mornings, the waiting staff gave out flowers which were lovely!! Great touch!! At dinner, there was a singer, here again, not overpowering, just lovely to listen to. Housekeeping were super our room was cleaned every day. We did have 2 minor issues with the room which were dealt with in minutes, excellent service. Reception gave us some great tips for days out, as a result of which, we caught the train to Lagos and had a lovely day there. The fare was €8.40 for two of us return, so a cheap day out!! We did chose to walk to the railway station which was probably about two miles away. Lagos is definitely worth visiting. If you want to get taxis or buses anywhere, reception will definitely provide information. Pool towels are provided on arrival and can be changed at any time. There were plenty of sunbeds available all day every day, but there again we are at the end of the season, having said that the hotel was full, but it never felt it! I have no criticisms, one minor observation, the gym was small and had just cardio, no hand weights, so my gym kit never got used! We have come home feeling rested and happy that we had such a lovely time. We would return again at the beginning or end of the season as we like quiet places. Wow what a gem we've found! This is our 7th time to the Algarve and this is the best hotel experience we've had. This hotel has everything you need being right on the beach. We have a beautiful side marina facing room with stunning views. The town is close by full of bars restaurants and usual tourist type shops if needed. We were lucky enough to arrive early and our room was ready within an hour. The clean stylish rooms have everything you need; plenty of wardrobe space,hairdryer, double-sided mirror so welcomed for the ladies! All personal condiments supplied including tissues. Powerful walk In shower and adequate quiet air conditioning. We feel so relaxed.... The food is very good except the fried eggs at breakfast are not cooked to order so end up hard under the hot plate.The drinks are reasonably priced . Yes the hotel has more senior guests and that being adult only it is very quiet..... Stunningly beautiful decor of a moorish design this hotel will not disappoint. Ignore the bad reviews we are here now and cannot fault anything. Oh and as for people complaining about the coffee we don't get it....there are three coffee machines with a very wide selection to accommodate every taste.Chilled Asti Spumante finishes our breakfast each morning on the terrace with amazing sea views. The staff are unintrusive but always there if you need them. We will definitely be returning to this little gem! Well done AP Oriental 9/10 from us our only complaint is the small pool positioned right in front of the dining area with such large grounds xx…
