We spent a very pleasant moment in Bela Vista, particularly in the Junior Suite. We much appreciated the breakfast which was generous with perfect service. All the staff was very welcoming and very nice, which was really appreciated. My favorite moment was the Spa with Ophelia, who was very very kind, professional and very careful about my well being. We will come back for sure.
Praia da Rocha is a strip next to the beach, lined with shops, restaurants, and hotels, so it is not so secluded. But the Bela Vista Hotel and Spa stands out on this strip because it offers a degree of exclusivity and seclusion amidst this area. The property is stunning, especially the main building lounge, bistro and the restaurant area. We had a room in the main building, which was nice and quaint and had old world charm, but because of that, the room was rather small by modern standards. The service was excellent, and their breakfast, included with the room rate, was outstanding, There is a Michelin star restaurant in the dining room, but we did not eat there because it was extremely overpriced. The pool area was nice and it overlooked the beach, but the pool was not heated. All in all, a unique luxury experience in Portimao, and it met or exceeded most of our expectations.…
Pics make it look like it’s secluded and quiet. It’s in the middle of party area. Roads to it are now all pedestrian so it’s a nightmare to get to. Street is full of hundreds of people drinking and becoming aggravated that you are trying to drive on the “road”. Check in was very slow. Manager showed us to our room. The air conditioning didn’t work and room was 95 degrees. We asked for a different room and said we would be happy to wait for a room to be available. They said no rooms available. There were at least 3 rooms next to us empty and being cleaned. They did call a repair company and eventually fixed the ac. But was not a nice experience and not 5 star. Management was rude and of no use.
This hotel was the highlight of our trip as planned by Goncalo Oliveira (email@example.com) booked us here and to our pleasure our stay was a delight. The staff was professional, the room was great, the restaurant was spectacular and the spa was DEVINE!! Thank you Goncalo- you did a great job!! We will be back! PS if you are traveling to Portugal- I highly recommend letting Goncalo plan your trip. You will not be disappointed!
We had great expectations about our stay at Bela Vista Hotel & Spa and they were entirely fulfilled. We had a great room, at a wonderful resort, with plenty of kind and helpful people in every corner, We received great advice on day trips to nearby villages. We spend jobful time at the Vista Restaurant, the Bistro, the pool bar and L'Occitaine spa. The concierge team made arrangements for us to go on a boat trip that made up for a lifetime memory. If anything goes against it, it is how big Portimão is. I think it lacks the tiny village attractiveness of nearby places that we visited. But Bela Vista makes Portimão a destination all by itself. We hope time and distance will allow us to come back soon.
I told the woman in the front desk that gave us the welcome drink that I came to the area because of this hotel and it exceeded my expectations. I saw below the great reviews of this hotel and its staff and they deserves it. I have nothing to add. All is great. Recommended for all even families with small kids.
Great time at the Bela Vista! The staff was phenomenal, extremely friendly and welcoming. The views are amazing and food is very tasty. Highly recommend. We came here for our honeymoon and they made our holiday that much more enjoyable.
We had a lovely stay here for about 5 days. Staff we amazing and the building is beautiful inside and out. There is no private beach or beach service by the hotel, but access to the public beach is easy enough. We spent most of the time at the hotel's pool which is a great place to be! Rooms are relatively small, but this is an historic building and there is only so much an architect can do with the avaible space. Still, the space is well though out and comfortable. This is not the hotel's fault, but it is worth mentioning, the Sunday night that we arrived was very noisy with the nightclub (Katadral) that is located right next to the hotel, it went on until 5am the Monday morning. The rest of the week was nice and quiet. If you are planning on going over a weekend perhaps check if there are any events / parties on at the nightclub. If you are looking for a luxurious stay in Portimao we would recommend it. The town gets very busy and it was always nice coming back to the calmness of the hotel after being out and about. …
The balance of the reviews reflect the physical plant that has passers by taking pictures of the resort. My attention is on the staff led by Joao Vilela, the front office manager. Unfailingly friendly, well trained and supportive, they make the stay memorable. We had a small medical issue, and Ines, with her big smile and wide knowledge, made it no issue at all. The hotel has all of the elements you would expect of a hotel of this stature - if they didn't stop feeding me breakfast, I would still be sitting on the deck enjoying the view, food and care. The hotel is special because of its people.
Unquestionably a 5-Star Hotel. One of the best we have every visited. The property is very private and secure (gated). While it is located slightly back from the beach, there was no obstruction of view or access between the hotel and beach. Bonus for us that everyone spoke perfect English. We were greeted very warmly with champagne, a private VIP check-in in the lounge area, and a tour of the property. The property has three buildings. The main building, called "The Palace", is a very large castle-like building built in the early 1900s as a home. Most of the tile work, fireplaces and wood are the original material/construction. We stayed in a second building called "The House" which was more recently constructed. When booking in this building you should be very direct about ensuring you will have a unobstructed ocean views because its not perfectly clear online. This was easy to do via phone call. Off the 15-30 rooms on 2 floors, only ~10 have the perfect views (with private balcony) and having this room definitely made the stay that much more special. All facilities and rooms were extremely clean, well decorated and spacious. The pool area is wonderful. It is surrounded by the beach in the background and palm trees all around the perimeter. The chair-to-guest ratio must be great because we never had to fight for chairs at any time of the day. There is a bar conveniently located adjacent to the pool that made fantastic (but expectedly somewhat expensive) drinks. The included breakfast was provided on the front porch with great beach views. There was combo hot/cold menu that included high end charcuterie, smoked salmon, real honeycomb, eggs prepared in a variety of ways, baked goods and fresh juices rotated daily. The onsite Michelin star restaurant is unbelievably good. Check the Vista restaurant reviews.…
