I’d say this hotel is overpriced, overcrowded and understaffed. The views are great, for sure, but mostly from the dining area, from your rooms ( even the best standard), you are surrounded by concrete. The food is very mediocre, staff unhelpful and slow. The overall impression that you get is the poor design and cheap materials in connection with an unseen scale of devastation of the natural environment- the behind of the hotel fills the whole area with aircon and vents noise, cars park all the way down the narrow street. I felt guilty of just allowing this kind of investment to thrive in the area it is placed. Huge, mass market and not exclusive despite all the social media buzz. Pools area and kids play rooms are nice and this is the only positive thing that I will say

Location: great views from the windows (rom/restaurant etc.), steep road to hotel - not comfortable for walking (and/or driving). Parking (garage): really narrow but enough free places to spot something; quite cheap Room: Nicely decorated, comfortable, great views from balcony, comfortable bed, though AC is quite loud for such a new hotel, good sound-proofing Main Restaurant (breakfast/dinner): food was very tasty, huge choice of various dishes/meals/beverages; service is excellent - cleaning the tables/making sure the food is available; the restaurant (due to its size and huge amount of children) made me feel like I am in a school canteen Sauna: the saunas themselves and the sauna area is really nice; HOVEWER, there is no staff there - it means the rules are not followed and it is not a place for relax as people shout to each other, talk very loudly, they go to saunas with their pants/swimming costumes and even flip-flops!! Reception: when checking-out, the reception staff did not bother to ask me whether or not our stay was enjoyable - they just do not care Summing up, it might be a good hotel for people with several kids, who do not wish to relax in quietness (or people who do not wish to go to the restaurant and sauna area and will stay in the room).

We visited on the Christmas package, from 23rd to 27th of December. It cost around £2600 in total, parking etc was not included. I’ll start with the positives: Location is beautiful. Access is easy. We parked on the 6th floor, reception is on 7th, or room was on 8th. Access to and fro is really easy. Views are fantastic. Pool area is really easy to access and great to use. Negatives: Food- Really disappointing. Bland and cold. Not good enough. Looked good, taste was very poor. Christmas Eve dinner was probably the most disappointing. Another reviewer has pointed out that everything seems done on the cheap, to save costs. Juice is from machines, coffee the same (fetch it yourself). Prosecco was out on the counter but no one was ‘offering it’ and it was flat anyway. I honestly did not have a single mouthful of food that made me say ‘wow’ in 4-5 days. A real shame. Staff- Clearly not well looked after as they did not seem happy at all. No smiles or conversation. Exception being Dominik in the Lobby Bar and his female colleague (apologies that I didn’t get her name). Really polite and helpful. They were on duty on 23rd and 24th. Made great cocktails and were really friendly and polite to us all, even after we’d had one too many. Thank you. Covid measures- Masks for staff seem optional (Dominik excluded, who kept his on at all times). Everyone else is clearly under the impression that a mask is to protect their chin and their noses do not emit any kind of breath. Cleaners walking around corridors with no masks at all. Same in the restaurant. Guests ignored mask restrictions and were not reminded. It just doesn’t make sense. At. All. Beds: Absolutely shocking. Why on earth do hotels not pay for decent beds?? It was a pleasure to get out of bed, rather than into it. And our room had a sofa bed (for our 7 year old son) that was so hard that it felt more comfortable on the floor. Our son didn’t sleep on it, I did. I find it so annoying that a place where you visit to get relaxation scrimps on the bed quality. It’s so unnecessary. I’ve even stayed in cheap hotels that invest in beds because they know that clients will return after a restful stay. Not good enough, by a long shot. In conclusion: It’s a beautiful place, but clearly not 5 stars. I’d return, for the location if nothing else, but I wouldn’t rush back. It could be completely brilliant but it’s just not managing to reach its potential. Sort out the beds, the food and the crappy Covid measures, throw in some customer service skills and a few smiley faces and you just might have a hotel worth shouting about.

New and modern hotel, very clean, tastefully designed minimalistic bathrooms. Annoying to have the shower gel fixed to the wall, I just realised it was almost finished but not topped up this morning. Swimming pools are brilliant, if you enjoy swimming, this is your place. There are 4 indoor swimming pools (one for adults and kids, one in a quiet area only for adults, one smaller one with hydromassage and one shallow one for toddlers and small children.) Then 4 whirlpools indoors and two outdoor ones and an outside infinity swimming pool. All of these are sizeable ones, no going by halves. Lifeguards are aplenty and doing their job (not like in some places) and very friendly. There are 6 different saunas and a chillout area. Overall great. There is a lovely room for little children to play with a monkey park to climb and ball pools, kids love it. Also a games room for older kids. The hotel spans over 9 floors and there is ample parking space albeit costs 10 euro per day which is an extra and I was surprised given the cost of the hotel. Now here comes the downside: the food is average to below average. The room price includes breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately there is the old juice dispenser trick, no fresh juices, no assistance with coffee/tea (go get yourself everything) , no tea pots - so up and down to the water dispenser for your second cup of tea. Salt and pepper in tiny paper bags and this too has to be picked up. Paper table covers which just cover one third of the table. Fruit is cut up for you so that you don’t take anything out, honey is in large jars for the same reason (strange that salt and pepper is not on the tables but everyone wrestles with the same spoon to reach the honey at the bottom of the jar..) the dry fruit/musli section is rather minimal. N Now in terms of food quality at dinner, I am surprised that the soups are not local, but ones you can find in NH hotels all over Europe (minestrone, cream from mushrooms, cream of beetroot, cream from cauliflower, cream of potato , cream of xyz ..you name it and none of the Polish staples you expect in the winter and especially in this region (kwaśnica, żurek, ogórkowa, grzybowa) The mains are cold and veeery average. It is like as if the chef does not love cooking and is …hazarding a guess here: not even Polish. Why? Because the spices are not typically from here, just an average 3 star hotel food you can get literally anywhere in Europe. The cakes (you expect good ones at Christmas) are okay, buy honestly nothing to rave about. I checked the Menu a la Carte restaurant downstairs but it looks pretty much the same, I am tempted to go into the village for dinner. Staff is overall helpful, but a but hit and miss in the restaurant.

Of course, when coming to a hotel of this size, no matter how many stars it boasts, certain luxuries and aspects of comfort cannot be achieved (e.g. a feeling of seclusion and exclusivity when there is crowds, full elevators etc.). One could say that this is an architectural / planning mistake, that more restaurants and elevators should have been built. But those are issues that can be hardly solved at this point anymore. So let’s focus on what is right and what could be better (I’ve read all previous reviews and taken the mentioned critique into consideration). Advantages - The quality and diversity of the food - the speedy service in the restaurants (Serving and cleanup) - quick and easy check-in and Check-out and overall knowledgeable reception staff - pleasant and helpful cleaning staff - childcare & activities (even though temporarily moved into one of the conference rooms) - general cleanliness in the common areas - nicely equipped and modern swimming pool with slides and play area for children - outdoor playground - very well equipped bar - convenient parking with automatic license plate recognition and generously sized parking spaces (especially on level 4, enough room for a 5,3 m long car) - modern in-room entertainment system with booking info etc - fully equipped baby cot that included a mattress (surprisingly not a standard in most hotels) - generously sized standard rooms with attractive views from the balconies (tip: rooms X81 are furthest into the hotel’s wings and next to premium rooms, therefore extra quiet) - great and spacious lobby (first impressions count and this one is great) - BONUS: as we had to report an incident with an unpleasant guest, the hotel management dealt with the situation extremely professionally, took our complaint very serious and did it’s own investigation into the matter. Bravo for that! Improvement potential: - (I must get this out of the way first): the extent to which guests showed absolutely no respect for the required COVID-19 safety measures was absolutely outrageous! 95% of the guests did not wear masks at all, not even at the buffet (!). The staff did next to nothing to change the situation - on the contrary, most restaurant staff were wearing their masks under their noses and some cleaning/maintenance staff were not wearing any masks at all. This is absolutely unacceptable and must be known to anyone planning to stay at crystal mountain. - while staff was overall very welcoming, some coordination issues still happened. The additional sheets for the pullout couch and a bottle of Prosecco I had ordered (admittedly one day before arrival…) were not available in the room despite my asking again at check-in and were delivered only after a second inquiry. And still, they were delivered with mistakes. No big issue but an inconvenience that should be easily resolved - some equipment in the room were already broken - bathroom toiletries were limited to soap only. The offer should be extended to body lotion etc - offering instant coffee with a kettle is below average - cleanliness of the room requires improvement (leftover food in the baby cot’s side pocket, dirty glass railing on the balcony) - the pools cleanliness requires improvement (there was sand at the bottom of the indoor pool) - no lifeguard at the kids pool - no shop (to buy e.g. swimwear, hiking shoes, hotel branded equipment ) - the outside areas of the hotel are not attractive at all, there is no garden to speak of, the lawn next to the pool is in bad condition and there are no signs of trying to make up for the unkempt and dirty areas surrounding the hotel grounds (clearly visible through the fence). So there is basically nowhere to go for example for a nice walk after dinner As it is right now, I’ve stayed in many 4* hotels which offered a better experience. While the above critique mostly points to things that should be “fixed”, one aspect would lead this hotel closer to becoming a truly 5* place: personalized service. For this price and considering the hotels claim about customer-centricity, the utmost should be done to provide guests with personalized offers and communcation, to truly make their stay unique. It can be little things, like a personalized welcoming card in the room. Or “things to see if you’re in the area for the first time” for foreign guests. I’m not even talking about so many oldschool and proven ways like offering to help with luggage (there was literally one elderly gentleman of a luggage-boy) or just asking people if they enjoyed their stay during check-out. There are so many ways in which guests can be made to feel special. Instead, as it stands today, you kind of feel like a sardine in a mass-market holiday object (that feeling is amplified by the, let’s call it “Socially very diverse”, clientele if you know what I mean). Crystal mountain should aspire to fulfill its claim of being a 5 star hotel. If it improves in some of the mentioned points, it will be a place worth coming back to.
