Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked this property through Booking.com. There are two things to say initially. Firstly, many people who reviewed the property mentioned the nice breakfast. When completing the internet booking the top of the booking page says, ‘Reserve your bed and breakfast stay’. Perhaps we didn’t read the information carefully enough but breakfast is not included nor are the local taxes. Breakfast and taxes for the three days we stayed came to 41 euros. However, you don’t have to have the breakfast. There is a boulangerie a few yards down the road and an enormous E Leclerc supermarket about 10 minutes’ walk away or 2 minutes by car. Secondly, the mezzanine bedroom area is a bit tight for space and headroom. If you are tall you might find this space a bit awkward. Having said this my wife and I had a lovely stay and would certainly consider going back. The lady who runs the property is delightful and couldn’t be more helpful. She had prepared a useful folder with places to eat and visit and also provided us with a map. Although compact the property is well designed and has nearly everything you need for a short stay. There is a two zone induction hob, sink, microwave, toaster, fridge and kettle. There are all the pots, pans, utensils, crockery, cutlery, etc. that you need. There is a sofa, TV and music centre. There is also a table for two people. The shower room is spacious and contains the toilet and sink. Outside there is decking, chairs, a pleasant garden and a lovely pool. The situation is ideal as it is near enough to the centre of Libourne for you to be able to easily walk there but far enough out to make it peaceful and quiet. There are electronic gates protecting the property. If we return to this area of France in the future we would certainly consider returning to this property.

A very nice studio with a mezzanine for the bed (not stand up if you are tall, but we didn't find it a problem and we are both tall). Loved the cosy feel of the place. The property is located off the main road, with a car park space behind an automatic gate. Lovely view on the garden (with an outdoor pool) and river. Kitchenette is small but perfectly equipped with 2 hobs, microwave and plenty utensils. Approx. 10 min. drive to huge Carrefour (food and all supermarket). We didn't have breakfast at the property.

Shush, don’t tell anyone our secret! Mascarisle is an oasis of calm; a paradise. You enter the property through a large electric gate and as soon as it closes you can relax. The accommodation is a bijoux apartment and is the only one on site. Downstairs is a lounge, dining table, mini kitchen and luxury bathroom. Up on the mezzanine is a comfy double bed, however the steps are quite steep and the roof height a little restrictive so may be a problem is you have limited mobility. The lounge opens up onto a lovely covered decking area with table and chairs. From here you can have access to the lovely gardens, swimming pool and sun loungers. The river is at the bottom of the garden. This is lovely area to have a peaceful meal. Practical information: Mascarilse is just off a busy road within easy walking distance of a super market and an artisan boulangerie. We walked into town in the evening for a meal. When you wake up in the morning a lovely hamper containing your breakfast will be on the doorstep, comprising coffee, fruit juice, various breads and an extra special treat! Towels are provided as well as lovely Turkish towels for use by the pool. Hair dryer available. In the kitchen you will find a coffee maker, kettle, pans, washing up liquid and cleaning/drying cloths. Plenty of crockery and cutlery are provided. I would have no hesitation in returning to Mascarilse; it’s a lovely apartment and so close to all the lovely villages and towns in the area. Enjoy!

We stayed a few nights in Mascarisle. Perfect place to discover the Bordelaise area. When you arrive at the address you would not expect a quiet place behind the busy street. But it is beautiful and quiet, lying at the river. We were welcomed by the very friendly owner of this place. She is like a walking tourist information point and is happily to give you all kinds of tips on the area and the wine tasting. The loft is fantastic. Beautiful decorated. The bathroom is equipped with a real disco bath, with lights, bubbles and a radio. There is also a nice private terrace with good furniture and a view on the swimming pool and garden. The french breakfast is nice with every day a new surprise. I will certainly recommend this hidden gem.

We had a wonderful time at Mascarisle, the accommodation was private and very comfortable, the amenties first class. furnishings and fixtures were very tasteful. The breakfast is delightful with something different and very yummy each morning. This is the perfect base for visiting the local villages and wineries especially if you have transport though the train station is within walking distance and has frequent trains to Bordeaux etc. Marie is a wonderful and warm person, despite our different languages we were able to communicate very well. Marie is also very considerate picking us up from the train and lending us their bikes. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting the area.
