We’ve decided to spend a night in the nice small town of Onomichi and were very satisfied by the hotel!! Although the pictures were not promising at first glance on the hotel booking portal, on our arrival we were positively surprised about the cleanliness, the friendly thaï personnel and the absolutely unique location on top of the hill direct nearby a temple. I believe this is the best located hotel here. The hotel is not very modern anymore but the rooms are spacious and clean. Everything you need is there. If you are too lazy to go down to the city for dinner you can enjoy a beer and some thai food with the fantastic view over the surroundings at sunset. A very good price / quality ratio for a mid class hotel.
firstly do not follow google map directions to find this hotel it sends up on a wild goose chase, the hotel emailed the correct directs to us which were WAY EASIER but we didnt see the email until after we git there and hour after trying to follow googles instructions which was meant to be a 5 minute walk!!! Hotel is old but its got great character, i hated and loved it. Bed is hard but comfortable, shower is strong. Amazing view, food in the restaurant was good nothing amazing but tasty. Staff were very friendly and couldnt be more helpful.
The room was large (compared to other Japanese hotels) and the bed was comfy. But best of all is the view! Amazing! And the staff were so polite, helpful and nice. The Thai-restaurant had great food. From the train station it's best to take a cab, or if you're sporty and don't have a suitcase then you can climb the stairs up to the hotel.
Our stay seemed to short in this wonderful city. The view hotel was a perfect accommodation for our cycling trip. I would strongly recommend trying to book during the betcha festival and catching some of the celebration and drums in the city. Our staff at the hotel were very accommodating and helped us with our questions about the city. The rooms were a decent size and the price was great for Japan. Because the view sits on top of a hill you will need a taxi to get there but without your bags its certainly do able during the day. The view hotel has and incredible restaurant view and great Thai food, don't miss the japanese style breakfast. It is seconds away from lovers sanctuary park which was stunning for a sunset view.
This accommodation was probably my worst in all of Japan. I stayed at hostels all times except for this one and hostels easily beat view hotel seizan. First of all- don't make the mistake of thinking it's easy to walk to the hotel from the station. While it says 5mins, it's also up an extremely steep cliff which isn't a great experience when your carrying luggage. We stayed for one night before starting the shimanami kairos bike ride! Their were guide books which were helpful! The beds were uncomfortable, super squeaky and the quality of the stay just can't compare to anywhere else we stayed in Japan. Not worth the price at all.
