This lodge is absolute rubbish. We stayed one night and left for mount cook village in the morning with the promise of a member of staff reserving two rooms for us if they became available in a days time, as it was currently fully booked. This reservation obviously never went through as we found out others had taken our promised beds... Location is great, rigth in front of Lake Tekapo and 10 min walking to town centre. The facilities and bedroom are clean and shower is good (hot water and water pressure). Reception is far from the rooms. Bathroom doesn't have heater and it's cold inside. The bedroom is very noisy, the walls seem to not block any sound from outside.

Stayed here for a one night a few days ago. I stayed in a four bed dorm which was very small but didn't bother me as I was with three of my friends. The view from both out room and the lounge was outstanding! The kitchen is quite small and can get quite busy but again this didn't bother me... More

Stayed her in a 4 bed dorm the bed where really nice and same with the pillows also way a plus when backpacking. Location is right on the water front so walking along it you get some stunning views and photos. The hot springs are right beside here to. The kitchen is really clean and there is also a oven... We stayed for one night it was find, but underwhelming. We booked in at the last minute, and the woman at reception didn't seem too personable. Ultimately that's not a big deal though if the accommodation is nice. We picked LakeFront after seeing the common area and thought it looked perfect. The only catch - shortly after we arrived a... Good place for stay. Good views of Tekapo Lake, we stayed on a double bed cabin. Nice receptionist, very friendly and talkative! The toilets and kitchen very clean. 2 microwaves, 4 o 5 hobs for cooking, big fridge, pots, pans, cutlery.... great! Good BBQ garden!

My group and I had a great time staying here. Such a picturesque location and a full of stunning beauty. As the sun set it got even better. We were then graced with a clear night and the stars were the best I have ever seen them. A few of us went down to the waters edge and laid out... More

We stayed just for one night. I agree that the price isn t cheap, but the locations is more than perfect: just in front of the lake with a beautiful view on the mountains. I don t understand pervieus comments. I am an achitect, and lakefront is a backpacker hostel. What do you expect? A ancient greek building surrounded by... More

We only came here as the YHA down the road was full but it wasn't too bad. The room was a bit cramped but it had big sliding windows and was a few metres away from the lake. The bathrooms were okay, though the showers went from freezing cold to boiling and nowhere in between. There was a large communal... More

“If you choose a dorm room facing the lake, you also face onto the communal BBQ area (I'm glad we didn't get this room). The rooms which don't face the lake are more private. Choose a dorm FAR from the squeaky slamming doors which lead from the bedrooms corridor to the living areas.”
