Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for one night on our way North, the staff were great always on hand to help. The room was a good size very clean and comfortable. I liked the fact that we didn't have a surplus of cushions for show. We had an evening meal and breakfast the food was wonderful all cooked fresh, such a refreshing change. Certainly would stop here again if in the area.

We have stayed at the Down Inn in the past and it was good to be back if only for one night. We stayed in room 1 which is very large and has a lovely view over the beautiful countryside. The room was clean and the bed comfortable with a good bathroom. We parked at the rear making it easy to get the luggage to the room. We had our evening meal at the Inn, the carvery is very good. We think it is one of the best anywhere we have been. The Inn was busy with a good atmosphere and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and was served quickly, I had the cooked breakfast and enjoyed it very much. The countryside around the Down is beautiful and has many places to visit. Even if you are just passing the Down Inn, make time for the carvery, it's well worth it, my family and I have visited here many times over the years.

Visited here with my young family (girls aged 4&6) on a busy-ish Thursday evening in August. The good points were we were welcomed at short notice and the staff were nice and friendly. The Mrs steak & kidney pie was nice enough, as were my 4yos sausages…………. The bad points however………. Everything else seemed overcooked. My 6yos chicken Goujons were rock hard and seriously dry, as were my scampi, the chips weren’t particularly great either……….. We also overheard a family on the next table complaining that the turkey was inedible and their Yorkshire puddings were “solid & burnt”………. We won’t be returning………. 👍👍

Just been back to The Down Inn again for a two night break and received a warm welcome. We cannot fault the place; The rooms are comfortable, fresh and clean. The breakfasts are splendid with top quality food and cooked to perfection. The evening meals are always first class here; as are the puddings! Everyone is so friendly and accomodating. We've been staying here for years (as it's so handy for Bridgnorth and the Severn Valley Railway) and never been disappointed.

This was my second short stay in 6 months. I like staying there, the staff are so friendly, and make you feel special. The food is a pleasure to have. They do a great carvery, and other meals. Probably my best lunch time sandwich I have had anywhere. The breakfast is superb. My room was clean and spacious. Plenty of car parking space. Looking forward to another stay at The Downs Inn, to meet up with the friends we have made with the staff.

We stayed for one night in a very comfortable room. It was spotlessly clean and was well appointed. We ate in the restaurant and both starter and carvery meals were delicious, as was the enormous cooked breakfast. All staff were very helpful and friendly.

We had a lovely overnight stay at Down Inn. All staff were warm and friendly especially the young gentleman working in the bar area and the lady who served the first class breakfast - best we’ve had in a hotel for quite some time. The room was clean & fresh, bed comfy, bathroom spotless, towels white & fluffy etc. We had evening meal in the restaurant & the lamb was delicious - clearly cooked to order. The carvery was ‘the usual’ but good value for a plateful! They even make a great Irish coffee! Basically - well done to The Down Inn and we hope to be back in the future.
