Great hosts, fabulous location, loved our stay here. 3 nights not long enough, next time we'd stay for a week. Very relaxing atmosphere (especially after our wonderful but hectic stay in Roma), fantastic hosts, darling apartment in a picturesque setting. Breakfast was fantastic too, lots of choices and loved the menu of cafe drinks. Husband says it's best expresso he...

The location is beautiful and the family are warm and welcoming, but the apartments need some repair, refurbishment and re-equiping for self-catering (even the corkscrew was difficult to operate). The views across the crete are stunning, but in our apartment the shower leaked, the toilet/shower door did not close, the tiny TV which must have come out of the Ark...

If your idea of a sojourn in Tuscany includes a cute little apartment with its own kitchen and private patio, yet a good daily breakfast, a lovely swimming pool, library/reading area, lazy hammocks in the olive garden, a BBQ area, nice views of the Tuscan countryside, all within 100 meters of an excellent country restaurant, then Fonte Bertusi is perfect!!...

We can't recommend this place highly enough. We were only sorry we couldn't stay longer. Our hosts were as gracious as could be and breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to start the day. We really hope to make it back here some day to stay longer! Do not hesitate to stay here, it is worth every penny.

We found this place in Rick Steves and would go back in a heartbeat. Manuela, Andrea and Edoardo were charming and helpful. They helped me find an English-speaking medical specialist when I needed one. The place is charming and the pool inviting. It's a great base for day trips all around Tuscany. We did Pienza, Montalcino, Montepuchiano, Siena and Monteriggioni.

Fonte Bertusi was everything we imagined and more. The grounds are beautiful, the apartments are very comfortable, and the food is fantastic. It's a great location if you're looking to explore to Tuscan hill towns, or just relax by the pool and take in the scenery. Manuela was so nice and helpful. One restaurant (La Porta) even included a complementary...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fonte Bertusi: There is no place more imaginary, and so more real, than this. You'll be greeted, upon arrival at Fonte Bertusi, by a great, colourful rooster in his cage. And it's like the heralding of a new day. Strolling around the grounds you'll find strange objects, like a huge set of eyes that peer out from the earth, a chair so high up that even on tiptoes you won't get a seat (it's good for higher thoughts though), or a dragon that time has transformed into a wagon... or vice versa. Encounters may be amusing for some, they may be magical or artistic for others and for others still, they relax the mind by bringing into perspective one's conscience and mankind's place in the world. ... more   less
