Just spent 2 nights In This hotel with my husband to celebrate our 46 wedding anniversary. The staff are lovely, the ambience in The bar/restaurant delightful and the food and cocktails pretty good. Rooms are nice, need a bit of updating but they seem to be working on that. However, we had 2 nights of no sleep, on the first night there was a fight outside our room which was quite frightening, between a couple and 2 young men. The man and woman continued to fight and argue when they returned to their room, which was beside the emergency exit. The phone in our room didn’t work so I used my mobile to call manager who did come up and speak to offending couple, they were quiet after that, 2:30 am, but our sleep was broken. The next night, Saturday, there was a private function in hotel. I did receive an email from hotel 3 days before we were due to travel, although I’d booked 6 months ago, to advise me of the function and that they couldn’t guarantee rooms would be noise free. I asked to be put as far away from room as possible but the roof of the party room was joined onto the rooms we were in and the thump thump beat went on until after 2am. So I’m afraid, nice as the staff and food are we will not be returning to this hotel.

Stayed here for one night may '22.
Beautiful hotel & very busy, food was delicious, service was good but I did find the waiting staff perhaps a little inexperienced. Some did not know what drinks were available in the bar.We ordered 2 full breakfasts which were served to two other guests who had ordered a full & a mini breakfast.Disappointed to see sausages, pudding & hash brown were all deep fried, sausage not good quality either.Breakfast was edible though.
Bedroom was beautiful, very clean, cold water in tap was hot, even the toilet flushed hot water!!
We would return as it's a beautiful hotel & I believe staff are doing their best, head of waiting very experienced & attentive.
I do think hotel should review their decision to deep fry most of the breakfast though.

The hotel is located in a quiet location in the historic town of Trim. With links to The Duke of Wellington and a massive medieval castle it has lots to explore. The town has lots of great pubs and a few restaurants. The hotel restaurant is also good and not over priced. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Nothing seems to much trouble for them. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I've visited many hotels in Ireland and the Castle Arch provides one of the best breakfasts I've had. All items are good quality and plentiful. During the covid restrictions it is all table service so be sure to ask for all the items you want to save the staff having to make many trips. Not that they seem to mind as they were always cheery and helpful. Parking your car is no issue either as it has a spacious car park. I always finish by asking myself will I stay again. In this hotel I rush back as it is one of our favorites. I'm looking forward to my next stay with breakfast.

Myself and my husband spent 2 nights here for our wedding anniversary. Got off to a bad start when we booked in and realised that not only was 1 of the key cards not programmed, we had no milk for the tea/coffee, dirty cups and cutlerly were dirty from previous guests and there was only a half roll of toilet paper in bathroom. House keeping seems really poor, dust in room, carpet was filthy, no hand towels in bathroom, no shower gel just 15g bar soap and beds seemed thrown together, I had to remake bed on both evenings.
Having explained it was our wedding anniversary both in an email and on phone, I informed hotel I wanted to book a meal in the Arch Lounge which I thought was the main restaurant in the hotel from the website. We were seated in what seemed like a small bar with massive foot traffic and loud music blaring. What I had hoped would be a nice quiet romantic meal was completely the opposite. An atmy of staff who were running every which way and aside from 2/3 were not pleasant to customers. Food was terrible and greasy. This was the same with breakfast. Buffet breakfast is a joke, choice of 2 cereals and yoghurts. Fruit juice is from a carton which is just topped up regardless of flies floating in decanter. Yes there was a fly in the juice, told server who just apologised but didn't offer fresh replacement. Receptiont fidn't ask how we enjoyed ourstay when we checked out. She just took key cards and that was that. Would not recommend staying here.

While visiting Trim town with my friend I decided to treat us to a nice dinner as we were celebrating a special occasion . As we drove around the town we came across Castle Arch and decided to eat there as it looked really beautiful from the outside . We both ordered the garlic mushrooms for starter , my friend ordered the Indian chicken curry and I ordered the 10oz rib eye steak . When our mushrooms arrived we were really disappointed as they were over cooked , the tiniest garlic sauce served with them and it was obvious they were frozen . They were no way made fresh to eat they looked and tasted like those cheap brand low budget supermarket frozen mushrooms deep fried in oil that hadn't been changed in a while . Disgusting . Couldn't finish them . Then when our mains arrived we were even more disappointed . My friend's Indian wasn't Indian . It tasted like mc donnells curry and for anyone that doesn't know what mc donnells curry is it's a curry powder you buy off the shelf in a supermarket and mix it with hot water . My steak was tough and full of fat , the chips were skinny fries and again , they tasted like low budget skinny fries you buy in a supermarket. I asked for garlic butter and I got pepper sauce , easy mistake to make no problem but even the pepper sauce wasn't great when I tasted it . It's so disappointing to come to a restaurant and pay money for food you could have actually cooked better yourself at home . I wanted to complain but my friend didn't want the attention she just wanted to leave and go eat something to eat elsewhere . So I've taken the time to write this review to let yous so the food was really disappointing theirs no excuse for it .

What to say about the Castle Arch hotel that’s positive, well it’s location is great if visiting Trim as it only a 3 minute walk to the town centre, it has its own carpark and the staff we encountered were very friendly however that’s just about where the positives end…
When we entered the hotel the first thing that struck me what a strange smell, wasn’t sure if it was food or what but it wasn’t what I’d describe as pleasant, we got it the whole way up the stairs until we got to the wing where our room was where we had to go through a hall door and then the smell disappeared to be replaced by a pleasant air freshener type odour…however we encountered it again on leaving the room to head out for dinner and on our return plus it was in the lift when we were booking out in the morning and I can only put it down to dirty carpet’s which were well worn.
Our room was pleasant but definitely not clean, we found two jelly sweets just under the edge of both beds, one soft with a dead fly attached… plenty of dust on window seals and some other surfaces, decor is a bit tired and bathroom could only be described as “ well worn “…
Rooms are adequate with kettle / tv etc however I’m an early riser and had no sound on tv in the morning as it’s electronically muted until I’m not sure when so no catching up on the news etc…we were at the front of the hotel and the view from the window could only be described as rough, the whole roof terrace is lined with solar panels weighed down with concrete blocks, area is dirty and unkept and has plenty of cigarette butts, building next door is pretty derelict looking with aspestos roofing and certainly not attractive in anyway, best option was close the curtains… you also couldn’t leave the bedroom window open for air from a security point of view as roof terrace is easily accessible for next door property which only has a low wall dividing it from the street… so if you like fresh air as you sleep you’d possibly need to sleep with one eye open…
Breakfast was ok, not a huge choice of cereal ( rice crispies or bran flakes ) but you could surely find something to ease the hunger…
Strangely enough we ended up having lunch there later as the communion ceremony we were attending had organised lunch there… once more food was ok, staff were lovely but certainly not a particularly memorable dinner…overall €214 for two people B&B for one night, not shockingly expensive but I’d have to say value for money wise it wasn’t great…
I think an opportunity missed with a property so well situated but surely in need of some serious investment… would I go back ? Only if I was stuck

I selected this hotel for our family because of the close location to Trim and the castle. The location was great and breakfast was good, but everything else was terrible. I booked two triple rooms, but the facilities were not as pictured online. The rooms were dated (but were clean). The bathrooms are very outdated and smelled like a fish tank plus the shower had a lot of mildew. The only soap provided was a dispenser like at a gas station and was empty.
The biggest issue was the noise from a wedding. Despite not being with the wedding, the hotel put us in rooms immediately adjacent to the ballroom (like walls touching the ballroom), plus our window was over an outdoor smoking area they set up for the wedding. It was so loud was the amplified sound that items in our room were vibrating, we could hear people singing word for word. All us us (toddlers and adults) were not able to sleep until midnight. There was an entire wing of the hotel far from the ballroom (it also might have been remodeled but hard to tell) that non-party guests should be placed in. The hotel should be ashamed to have put guests in these rooms during a wedding, especially reservations that included children.

As we arrived for our get away there was no cocktails on as no staff on duty knew how to make them and had to wait for another staff member to arrive. When going down for dinner the seats was disgusting and had the last customers crumbs all over it, we ordered steak and had to ask the waitress for steak knives, when she arrived with them they were that dirty we couldn’t even use them. We sat for 20 minutes after our food and waited for a member of staff to approach us for a desert menu while they both stood behind the bar chatting. We got fed up and just went to our room, we stayed in room 116 and the mattress was like a brick we both had sore backs getting up the following morning. The room was absolutely roasting and the heating gage was broken so nothing could of been done about this, therefore we spent the night with the windows wide open. We also had a voucher for two free main courses which came as part of the deal when booking, when we said this to the waitress she gave us a separate menu to the rest of the customers which was very limited, and had to pay €7 supplement for each of our mains. All my parter drinks is coke, each one he got was warm and flat with no fizz. My partner then attempted to get a shower the next morning and the water was cold and went to a mild warm. We went down for breakfast and had absolutely no complaints and the staff member was great who was on that morning. We would not recommend this place whatsoever.

Further to a family group stay in Castle Arch Hotel on Saturday 3rd February 2024, my brother's twin room was overbooked and receptionist insisted a double room was booked. I showed her confirmation that a higher price had been paid for a triple room as it was for himself and 24 year old son. She offered no alternative was offered and it was expected the two grown up men were to share a double bed. Thankfully a passer by heard our conversation and gave up her twin room as it was absolutely absurd that two grown men were expected to share the one bed after paying so much for a triple room. No allowances were made to the guest who gave up her twin room or to my brother for this misunderstanding.

Furthermore, we had requested an accessible room for two elderly ladies, one 88 and one 84 year old. Once again the receptionist explained none was available although they could use the bridal suite to shower only (room was vacant!). How the staff expected my 88 year old disabled aunt to go and use a shower in another room and then return to their own room afterwards - which room did not even have hot water.

To add insult to injury, my niece requested if she could have eggs with her veggie breakfast as they had no veggie sausages or fried potatoes etc. The waitress bluntly said "NO" and she was given a plate of mushrooms with tomato. I never experienced such rudeness. I also was given a bowl of porridge and same waitress insisted I had to take my hot breakfast too as there was no room on the hot plate to keep it warm whilst I finished my porridge.

To say our experience in Castle Arch Hotel was unique is an understatement. Never have we been so insulted or felt let down by any hotel. I don't usually post such negative reviews but want other guests to be aware of the experience we had to endure.

I sent the hotel an email one month ago and they haven't even had the courtesy to reply!

A very unsatisfied customer.

We stayed at Castle Arch on Sat 30th April, nice hotel food good service not great staff are not very well trained. If you are givin room 108 do not take it, most depressing hotel room I have ever stayed in due to Frosted glass in the window, seriously I booked the room months in advance . I spoke to the receptionist about it she said the manager would contact me , heard nothing back. Luckily we had just one night and did not spend time in the room.
