Knightsbrook Hotel & Golf Resort offers a mix of experiences, with guests enjoying its serene and inviting atmosphere, despite some noting a lack of modern charm. The spacious rooms boast good views, yet issues with noise and cleanliness have been mentioned. While the amenities are appreciated, challenges in booking spa services and a need for finer attention to detail have been pointed out. Travelers find the location ideal for events and relish the tranquil surroundings, yet some feel the value doesn't match the cost, especially given the inconsistent service and pricey on-site dining.

Just back from a fabulous night away for our Wedding anniversary in Knightsbrook Hotel. Everything we experienced from the moment we arrived made our stay enjoyable. All of the measures were taken to ensure people's comfort and safety with social distances clear and plenty of sanitizer available throughout the hotel. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and even though we had a slight wait for our suite they were so apologetic you just couldn't complain.
If you have an advanced booking do book your breakfast as soon as you can, the only time available was 8.00am in restaurant!Room service was available for breakfast at €10 and the food was very good, hot and plentiful.
Our suite was fabulous overlooking the golf course with a huge balcony that in good weather would be a great place to relax with a meal or drinks. A special treat and so worth it.
We had friends staying in the hotel in a standard room which they said was very comfortable.
My only criticism, and I hate to do it, was the main course in our meals was a little disappointing, flavour was lacking a little, but the starters and desserts were delicious.
I will definitely be returning to Knightsbrook hotel when everything is a little more normal and I have more time to make use of the spa and pool facilities.
Thanks to the staff in all areas for their wonderful service.

I was gifted a voucher for the spa here for my birthday last year and then lock down hit so when lock down relaxed I booked myself the ultimate daydream delight spa package (85 minutes for €115 which included back, neck and shoulder massage, hot stone foot and leg massage, hand and arm massage, scalp massage, comfort zone taster facial & afternoon tea. Super value and worth every penny. I used the swimming pool before the treatments as the thermal suite was closed that day. That was no problem as I couldn't use that anyway. Honestly at 24 weeks pregnant, the treatments were utter indulgence and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of them. Big shout out to my therapist, the professional Leona with her magic hands👐 . She wore a mask and visor during the treatments and sanitized her hands before, during & after the treatments. I defy anyone not to feel relaxed, amazing and like a new pin after this package of treatments. Adaptations were specially made for me for the back massage due to being pregnant. Highly recommended even during a pandemic though I wish I had left more time to savour the relaxation room and book I had brought afterwards. Allow yourself plenty of time to make the most of your experience and the facilities here. 5 star🌟 for the treatments.
I had afternoon tea in the mezzanine area afterwards. Service was good but could have been a little more attentive. Main negative of the tea was I thought the sandwiches and scone in particular could have been far fresher. Room for improvement here. The highlight were the sweeteries.
I would definitely return to the spa when in need of pampering. Ultimate daydream package was a delight.

On arrival we were given an upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking the greens of the golf course. The receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly as were ALL the staff. The hotel and staff met all the necessary requirements to help us feel 100% safe at this time of worry. The flavours of the food in the Rococo restaurant were amazing, however, the main course was not piping hot and we had a few minutes to wait on the sides. The breakfast was first class.
The walks along the river into the historic town of Trim are beautiful and well worth doing.
The staff were cleaning down surfaces very regularly, rooms were spotless and hand sanitisers are everywhere throughout the hotel, especially helpful on each individual table in the restaurant, bar and foyer.
Overall stay was excellent.
Well done Knightsbrook.......

Impressive lobby and check in staff did take steps on wiping down card machine, had screen and some signage around covid19 measures. List of items and areas that need to be improved: phones not working in room so best of luck if you want to call reception; no attention to to detail in bedroom - crooked pictures, beds poorly made, could not open balcony door; outdoor terrace - lady did clean down table and chairs before we sat down which was positive and good to see but it went downhill from there. €9 for smallest portion of chicken wings (10 approx); service woeful apart from one person. No management presence to ensure guests were being attended to timely. Dinner in Rococco... food was medicor, limited menu, no staff staff wearing gloves or masks, not adhering to 2m social distancing. No attention to detail on cleaning tables quickly so overall room presentation was untidy. Bedroom size was fine but no water and sheet quality poor. There was no noise so did have good sleep. Breakfast where do I start....you booked a time slot but the main restaurant was too busy when we arrived for our time. So we got sent to overflow. Cold buffet served served by hotel staff which was OK except not enough signs to say sit down and you will be served. People touching juice jugs etc. This hotel need to seriously move the needle to be 4 star.

My family and I travelled from Derry Northern Ireland on Saturday for 2 nights. We had the most amazing stay after everything that has happened over the last few months. Reception is so spacious with adequate sanitising stations. Siobhaín was fabulous on the desk and so kind to my wee ones and made us feel so welcome. There was a red sticker on our bedroom door to show the room was sanitised. We had a corner room that was so big we could not believe the size of it. On Saturday we had a light lunch in the golf bar as we were booked for dinner that evening. After lunch we walked to a small abbey about 10 minutes away and continued to Trim castle that is about another 10 minutes walk. The town is full of heritage and a must see if you are staying at this hotel. When we arrived back we went for our dinner. We were greeted by Amanda at the door and taken to our table and seated with menus. She was very pleasant and checked on us while we ate our starters. The restaurant was quite busy but the staff were amazing. We were served by a blond girl and I can not remember her name but she was fantastic, so polite and elaborated on the dishes with our silly questions! The only downside - there was a group of young boys sat behind us and they really upset the guests around. It was clear they were only interested in rounds of beer and had no consideration for the people around them or the staff especially with coronavirus. That was the only dent in our stay. I write this as we travel back up the road on our (long) journey home. We enjoyed ourselfs so much. We will be back surely before the summer is out.

Il start with the positive things, the room was clean and comfortable, lunch in the bar was a decent standard and the spa treatment was good. The negatives were the check in time of 4 pm is quite late when you have to check out by 12 the next day considering the money you pay to stay here you dont even have the room for 24 hrs. The robes in the dressing room were very shabby the loop for my robe belt was broken and the pocket on my wifes was ripped, the thermal suite has a strange wet dog smell that wasn't very pleasant to sit in, we decided to go to the pool instead and were greeted by a pile of screaming kids doing swimming lessons with no place for us to swim we gave up and went back to sit and wait for our treatment in what I can only describe was a reception area, staff milling past us every 2 minutes and guest coming out of the dressing room fully dressed while we sat in our robes waiting our treatment not exactly very relaxing. As i mentioned the treatment itself was good not amazing but good.
Lunch in the bar was decent soup and a sandwich tasty and they made an effort to make my wifes gluten free , staff were very over stretched our order came out and the young lad that had it went to 4 different tables before he eventually found out it was ours. We decided to go for a carvery that evening before the Christy Moore concert (best part of the stay) 16 euro for a below average carvery that it took 15 minutes for the staff to find out wasn't actually gluten free we decided to leave and have dinner in the rococo restaurant instead as they did over gluten free options. Food here was again of decent standard but my partner did find grit or small stones in her veg we paid the bill and told the guy that took the payment about this but he didn't seem very interested, I also noticed another woman sitting across from us picking something out of her mouth and placing it in a napkin, same issue maybe?
Concert was amazing and well organised.
That night however our sleep was disturbed by a fire alarm that went off 3 times between 5 am and 5.15 I had to walk to reception to find out what was going on false alarm but sleep ruined. They did explain it was due to bad weather that night but it still dosnt help that our night away for our anniversary, with our hard earned money was ruined. When we checked out we were given a voucher for 2 nights for the price of one as a gesture, this voucher however is for mid week only when we both work full time and its fine print says there is as supplement to be paid at weekends, hardly making up for a bad experience, more like a trick to make people spend even more money. Overall the food was hit and miss the room decent and the experience underwhelming if you was to get away for a night or weekend pick somewhere else to spend your money, because it by no means impressed us. Thank the lord for Christy Moore!

We stayed in the hotel on sat 7th august . Our stay wasn’t what we expected for such a highly rated hotel . I found the lack of service so bad . There were very little experienced staff on for the amount of guests in the hotel . We were waiting for very long periods for drinks that we ordered espically during our meal . I booked 2 spa treatments for my daughters, one daughter said her was amazing , the other daughters treatment was only fir 20 mins as the therapist was late coming in and then finished early as her shift was finished which I thought was ridiculous after paying in full fir the treatment. The games room for the kids was closed by 6.30 so I couldn’t go with my youngest child anywhere. We checked it out the next morning when it was open but there’s no remote control to work the tv to watch a movie . Breakfast the next morning was ok not very hot and we had to go and look for a waitress/waiter to order our tea and juices. We did use the swimming pool which was fab but with covid going on and with so many people using the pool a serious cleaning of the floors in the changing rooms is badly needed. There wasn’t as much hand sanitizer around the hotel from what I remember just on the entrance of hotel , bar , restaurant and lifts and no filling in of covid forms at check in or request for covid digital cert at check in for dining in .

Booked in for a two night stay in Knightsbrook, as part of the deal we had a meal included, a round of golf and breakfast included.

The room we had was lovely, overlooking the golf course and the lovely and spacious. The golf course was also great and enjoyed the round.

We had booked to eat in the rococo restaurant on the first night and was not a good experience. On arrival at the restaurant, we were not approached by any staff for 10 minutes to seat us. Once we had been seated, it was another 20 mins before any staff came near us to take a drinks order, at which stage we ordered our food too. The drinks appeared about 20 mins after we ordered - this was the wrong order and the waiter had to change the wine.

When the food finally arrived, about one hour after we arrived in the restaurant, we were both very disappointed with our starters. A soggy ceasar salad and very basic charcuterie plate containing one sundried tomato.

Our main courses (two steaks) did make up for that slightly. However, when the mains arrived the waiter set the steaks down and walked away without asking if we needed anything else.

In fact we had no cutlery, so we had to wait 5 minutes to grab the attention of a member of staff to be able to eat our mains. As we felt the starters didn’t really do anything for us, we had decided a dessert would be nice. The waiter came to clear the plates, after about 20 minutes of being finished our meal, and barked at us that there were no desserts left.

During our meal, the restaurant appeared pretty busy but there seemed to be plenty of staff on. Not one table around us had been cleared of empty plates or glasses when customers had left. We stayed in the restaurant for a little over 2 hours and the 9 empty tables that we could see lay dormant and uncleared for the duration of our meal. This in itself is very poor and something we have not seen in any other restaurant ever.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was also very negative, we seen a few different couples complain, and one other couple had to go and ask a member of staff to clear their table. Another couple who sat beside us, felt the same as us and were disappointed. This is not how we expect an expensive evening in a hotel to pan out. We expect a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. This is simply not good enough.

We then got up to pay, and had noticed two blue coloured cocktails at the bar when we sat down, when paying the waiter did apologise to us for being slow but then tried to pawn off the two cocktails claiming he had just made these, although they had sat in the same position for two hours.

We found the whole experience a real disappointment given the great reviews we had heard from family and friends about the hotel.

Myself and my mum stayed on the Thursday 16th July for 1 night.
On arrival, we were welcomed by a very friendly member of staff at reception who explained the timings of breakfast and where our room was located. He then rang the spa to reconfirm our timing for our spa treatment.

We proceeded to our room. We had rung ahead and requested a twin room which we had been told was 2 single beds anyway, this was not the case. It was 1 double and 1 single. Anyway, that was fine, and we ignored it.

We prepared to get ready for our spa treatment and there were no bath robes/ slippers and rang reception and they were brought up to us.

Understanding COVID, but there was no water provided, we were told to buy it in the vending machine!!!!

We proceeded down to the spa, lovely staff welcomed us. Then we went downstairs to the thermal suite where only the steam room and sauna was working. Went back upstairs to the relaxation room, we did not have the most relaxing time there as staff were talking loud out on the corridor and when dropping other guests into the relaxation room. We had a fabulous massage- but again people talking out on the corridor! The spa is lacking that SPA feeling, missing some candles or a spa scent!

Returned to our room, had showers where the bath was slow to empty, and water dripping from the ceiling on the ground and a disgusting wet shower curtain that should 100% be removed due to our current COVID-19!

We had booked dinner and arrived down at the Swift bar, the staff seemed really stressed. We were brought to our table and then it took staff nearly 20 minutes to take our order.

Our starter came out cold and the main course was dry and tasteless. There was no customer service or checking to see how we were getting on! We ordered a bottle of white wine from Chile and were given a French wine.

We brought it to the staff’s attention, the member of staff said, ‘it’s in the main restaurant and they didn’t have access to it as it doesn’t open until Saturday’.

He advised us to order a different bottle of wine and then minutes later, someone else came along with the bottle we originally ordered.

During our time here, members of staff were giving out to each other of duties that had to be done and standing not far from our table.

The following morning, we went down for breakfast where staff again were not wearing face masks or keeping any social distancing.

The food from the buffet was dry, tasteless, and cold. Again, staff seemed stressed and over worked!!!

We then went to check out, the lady at reception just said thanks and didn’t bother asking about how our stay was!!!

To top off our experience, when we were walking across the lobby, 3 separate members of staff were cycling out through the lobby and almost knocked my mum down.

As we have had good experiences at your hotel before while staying, we were extremely disappointing with this visit.

All staff were all so unprofessional, disengaged and appeared like they didn't want to be there!

Comfortable bed, amazing view over the golf course. Breakfast was delicious and the Covid-19 practices in place seemed to be largely followed by staff etc. Room felt clean apart from someone else’s hair in the bath and one or two other places in the room, easily missed but it is supposed to be a premium hotel and room plus we all have higher expectations of cleanliness at the moment. Would have expected a much nicer shower for €200 a night, quite disappointing. Overall an enjoyable stay and would recommend for couples looking to unwind at the moment
