We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Strand Camping. The campsite was excellent - very clean and quiet, and right next to Doonbeg bay. A great base for exploring this part of western Ireland. It's a convenient walk into the village, where there are excellent pubs and restaurants, and the bus service is very good. All in all, a brilliant place to stay and we look forward to coming back.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback. We understand that people go camping for many reasons and we understand that campsites have campers who want different things we have people that are touring, trying to see and do as much as possible in the time they have. We believe it is important to try and provide a quiet time at night so that people who want to go to sleep and or just relax can do so. Personally I’m not a fan of trying to go to sleep at the end of a day and having to listen to my neighbours, talking loudly/their music or tv on so loud that I can clearly hear it. So we ask that quiet time is from 10pm, we have lots of people who choose to stay with us because they can relax and go to sleep after a long day sight seeing.

This is probably the cleanest most professionally run campsite that we have ever stayed in. How the two really friendly and helpful owners manage it is beyond me other than through sheer hard work. The free showers and pay as you use metered electricity are truly an added bonus that other campsites would do well to copy. It's also in a wonderful location for touring south Clare and the Loop Head peninsula and it's just a ten minute walk to the village where there are 4 or 5 bars, a couple of restaurants and a fine take away and general shop. It says a lot for the campsite that the locals were saying nothing but positive things about it too. I look forward to returning in the future, thank you Amanda and Jamie and keep up the good work.

Thank you for your review Ciaran, it was a pleasure to meet you both. We think about the campsite from a campers perspective so we try to provide what we hope to find when we stay on sites. A personal pet hate is paying extra for showers, we factor it into the pitch fee. Sometimes when I shower I just want a quick shower in and in minutes other times I may want longer so the idea of a fixed time doesn’t suit me. We like yourselves are light users of electricity so if I am paying a set fee I am basically subsidising the high electricity users, we believe in the user pays for what they use, full stop, it is the fairest way. We hope to see you both again next season. Regards Jamie and Amanda

Fantastic site and location. Near shop, pub, beach and lovely cycling. Jamie and Amanda are just so helpful in every way. Site is small but every pitch is marked out to a very big area. Would thoroughly recommend this campsite.

Home a week now from 3 fabulous days at Strand Camping in Doonbeg. I have to say the Strand is probably the best Camping site we've stayed in our 3 years caravaning. The toilet and showers are very spacious and absolutely spotless and most importantly included in the pitch price. Our large caravan pitch had a large awning or relaxing area with crum rubber floor. Very quiet and peaceful park, not over crowded in anyway. When we arrived we were met by Jamie and shown to and directed onto the pitch. Everything was explained to make out stay perfect. Electric in on a meter so you only pay for what you use, we had a lovely surprise when after 3 days we were given a €5.05 bill !! The only negative I could say is 🤔🤔🤔 oh I can't think of any negative 🙂 Thanks Jamie and Amanda and we're looking forward to 2024 when we can visit again.

We were pleased you were able to make some changes to your initial plans so that you could spend a few days with us. Paying extra for showers is something we really dislike when we stay on sites, it’s not the extra money it is the hassle of ensuring you have the right coin(s) and having the duration of the shower decided by someone else. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

Amazing little campsite! Really neat pitches each with soft area for drive away awnings and a little table and chairs set. Facilities immaculate and owners really friendly and helpful. The town/village of Doonbeg is walkable with a few pubs - a couple of which serve food (but do get busy so recommend booking) and one with live music. Would definitely go again but recommend booking in advance as one of the only sites in this area on the Wild Atlantic way.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. As you say we have a small campsite with different types of pitches to suit, tents, campervans or caravans. We are fortunate to be within easy walking distance of the village which has a good selection of pubs and eating options. We are pleased that you would be happy to stay with us again.

Strand Camping is a well laid out site. Ample room for car, caravan and awning. We had a pitch with pea gravel, no issue pegging down awning. Pitches are separated with hedging. Toilets and showers very clean as is the entire site. Jamie checked us in and helps you onto your pitch. Both Jamie and Amanda are very hands on and very friendly. We were extremely pleased with their new metered electricity. We were there for 5 nights and paid €12:20 on checkout. Doonbeg is a 10 minute walk. There's a small shop for essentials but for anything more you need to drive to kilrush, 15 minutes, where there is a tesco and aldi. If eating out you definetly need to book as both restaurants in doonbeg busy. There is a takeaway. If your looking for a beach white strand is a few minutes drive from the campsite. Lovely beach with a lifeguard on duty when we were there. We would definetly recommend Strand camping and look forward to returning. Thank you Jamie and Amanda for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for your review we appreciate that you have taken the time to write it. When we first set the awning spaces we provided a grass base but we found that after a very short period of time the grass simply became a mud base so we took inspiration from other sites we have stayed on a switched to pea gravel or rubber chippings. Both are much cleaner and as you say peg just as well. We are always learning and this year we decided metered electric would be the fairest system and it is generally working out cheaper than most sites fixed rate. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again in the future. Regards Jamie and Amanda

We had such a lovely stay at Strand Camping. There was a lovely warm welcome on arrival and the site itself was so well kept, clean and well laid out. We loved the privacy of our pitch, and it was just the quiet retreat we needed. We will definitely be back.
