Shortly after this conversation, a gentleman named Lee came to our room with more of the items that I requested. We had a very nice conversation with him, and chatted about England where he was from, and also said we were slightly disappointed with this room as opposed to last year... A short time later, another gentleman named Nathan knocked on our door, and said he heard we were disappointed with our room, and asked if we would like to move to another. We were happy to take him up on his kind offer. Within ten minutes, we were moved across the hall to a much larger accommodation that was gorgeous. We were thrilled beyond words, and very grateful for the change. When we dined in the Trump Bar that evening we were warmly greeted by the manager Oliver who wished us a happy anniversary. A special dessert was brought to our table that was beautiful and delicious! All the meals in this dining venue have been wonderful! Our server Sarah was a delight, and very good at her job.Our two breakfasts in the Ocean View Dining Room were so lovely, with a very attentive staff and magnificent views of the ocean! I captured a photo of a rainbow from our breakfast table. Our second stay at this beautiful property was further enhanced by a wonderful gentleman named Michael, who drove us several times from our room to the restaurant..He was so helpful with knowledge about the area, and we shared good conversation about many topics. We were very sad to leave, since the two days were so memorable. The ambience, the food, the staff, and beauty of the land are all memories we cherish, and hope to experience again next year!
Bravo...to all at Trump Doonbeg!!
The apartment was uncluttered decorated in cream and grey with shutters on the window and the door, the bed was uncluttered with just a simple crisp white duvet and pillows, no awful dusty cushions and throws to have to remove from the bed as I have had to do in most hotels which I have stayed before being able to relax after my journey, there was a large wardrobe behind a grey door, and lovely antique looking chest of drawers too with many large drawers, behind another grey door was a fridge ,coffee machine ,kettle mugs etc and a safe. The toilet sinks and extremely powerful shower were immaculate and spacious with everything you require to make you feel at home.
We had decided to treat ourselves to dinner in the main restaurant on our first evening there, the staff were very attentive and polite and we were served with our food quickly.
We decided to order a bottle of white wine which after tasting it had to ask for an ice bucket as it was cold but not chilled as it should be.
We both ordered scallops to start which were Luke warm and undercooked .The main course of Lamb cutlets were very well cooked but lacking vegetables, my
husband decided on the lobster risotto, which he found overly sickly also the lobster undercooked.
We shared a cheese board which was lacking flavorsome cheeses such as a nice matured cheddar, stilton or an aged parmesan. The prices of 40 euros a head for just the main course we felt the food which was supposed to be five star quality was not deserved.
The following evening we went to The Trump bar and restaurant, where the food was very good both steaks were well cooked and tender, the only fault I could say was the pepper sauce was more a gravy with peppercorns in than a creamy pepper sauce I was expecting, yet again the staff were very pleasant and we were quickly served and our meals were piping hot.
Breakfast I can not fault beautifully prepared and cooked and a very large choice, but unfortunately was spoiled for me when I had to call the waitress over after discovering my knife was encrusted with dried on food, she was most apologetic and quietly replaced my cutlery, you certainly do not expect a five star restaurant to give you dirty cutlery.
To sum up my entire stay I found it a very nice place to stay ,the setting on the golf course, with the beautiful beach and sea behind was idyllic, and I felt relaxed staying here.
Just a final word - My wife in particular came away rejuvenated and with a pep back in her step after a difficult time initially after childbirth and I will be forever grateful for that. This hotel backboned by special staff is a very rare gem and one we will look forward to coming back to.
Long breakfasts are a must looking out on the wildness of the Atlantic.
Food in the bar was also good.
We stayed in a lodge, which was huge and extremely comfortable. While we knew the lodge was a little away from the main hotel, seems not everyone did. The distance is no problem as the hotel includes transport to/from the room in the resort fee. While we were the it was quiet to van arrived in a couple of mins, also we used it one night to go to and from the village for dinner without any problem.
Ireland’s lax Covid policy allowed me and a buddy of mine to do a Ireland golf trip of a lifetime.
We decided to quarantine the 14 days and work remotely in the Lahinch area. After quarantine our first stop was Trump Doonbeg.
This was our favorite experience of the entire Ireland golf trip. Put the bias of politics aside. From hole one to hole 18 this was a superb course with exceptional service. The food was second to none in Ireland. We wanted to stay the entire time at Doonbeg.
It was the only place we saw fellow Americans like ourselves lol. The Irish people don’t much like us at the moment due to a group of idiots from Amarillo, TX flaunting skipping quarantine and the Irish media made it act like we were coming into the country by the thousands.
We were able to play Doonbeg 3 times for less than 300 Euro with an incredible Covid rate.
We played, Lahinch, Doonbeg, Ballybunion and Portmarnock. This was our favorite experience.
Felt like home. If you’re from the states, come seek refuge her as you will be welcomed.
Enjoy your time.
