A Norwegian family spent 5 nights here, and 3 dinners at the restaurant. Everything was exquisite. The staff was friendly, and made us feel like home. The food was tasteful, with a variety of the french cuisine. Especially the desserts were remarkable. A spacious garden and the pool area is beatutiful, and really a place to relax. We will definitely...

We stayed at the Chateau in July and have to say we had an amazing experience. The staff were so polite and friendly and could not have been more helpful. Nicolas the maître d'hôtel was extremely pleasant and attentive. The delightful food, a lot of the ingredients sourced from the hotel garden was a joy and the chef was fantastic....

Happened upon this wonderful hotel the day after the D-Day Anniversary. It is a small Country Chateau without pretension but oozing charm and character. THe room we had was in a wing, across the courtyard from the main Chateau, but it was beautifully appointed and comfortable. Dinner was exquisite and the bar cosy informal and intimate. THe Chateau has quite...

This is a truly amazing hotel! The staff is warm, friendly and accommodating. The facilities are amazing, beautiful and very tranquil. Rooms are ample particularly by European standards and well decorated. Bathrooms were large, clean and clearly recently renovated. We ate dinner one night in the hotel restaurant. While on the expensive side, its VERY well worth with for at...

We stayed here either side of the 70th anniversary of D-Day (unfortunately they were full on a couple of the nights). The location is a mile outside the port, the grounds are beautifully manicured and it is so peaceful. Excellent rooms, charming staff and fine dining. And the other guests were charming and sociable. My only regret was that I...

This chateau is located in a large lawn area surrounding it. Many trees are about the property - some quite ancient. There is an ample swimming pool, although it was too chilly for us to partake. A tennis court as well is available. Our room was furnished with everything we needed. I particularly liked the updated bathroom. The breakfast buffet...

Dear PointeDetroit, Thank you very much for your nice comment. Most of our guests like coming to the restaurant for breakfast. They love the wonderful smells coming from our kitchen and talking with our staff about their stay and getting advice about what to do in the area. Our buffet breakfast is quoted 25 euros and not 33 as mentioned....

My partner and I spent 2 nights here in April. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The town that it is located in is charming and it is a nice retreat from the busier town of Bayeaux. I would recommend staying here to get a feel for a quieter town and a little more romance. The dinner was excellent...

The grounds were positively beautiful and the hotel staff was fanastic. We were there for 3 days and were very pleased. The only negative was the resturant for dinner which was very overpriced and was managed by a very rude resturant manager.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set close to Omaha Beach and the historic town of Bayeux, Port en Bessin conceals a treasure that lies at the end of a long drive " Chateau La Cheneviere ". Impeccable lawns, ancient trees and a charmingly old fashioned rose garden... arriving on the estate is like strolling onto the lands of an English Lord who fell under the spell of Calvados region. The manor appears at last, a dignified Norman edifice from the 18th century, it combines the charms of an old house with the conveniences of a cosy English Manor. Add to that an opulent interior, spacious, elegant bedrooms. The dining room, overlooking the park, has a certain grandeur on an intimate scale, while classic cuisine allows you to explore all the distinctive flavours of Normandy, a generous and distinguished cuisine based on delicious local produce, faultless service, a heated outdoor pool, a splendid terrace, and the picture is complete... ... more   less
