We stayed in Casa tranquilo because good friends recommended it to us. And it was totally worth every dollar we spent. We've been travelling since 3 weeks before we got there and have never spent that much time in the hostel before ... stuff, people and sitting area were just perfect for a good catch up and getting to know...

For 11$ a night with tax this character hostal is a good fit for the budget traveler of costa rica. Including a tasty breakfast (fruit, home baked banana bread, an egg and unlimited tea or coffee). I recommend cooking up some gallo pinto yourself the night before and heating it up in the morning, as it was still a little...

I wish we had stayed at this hostel for more than one night. We had a quick trip in Monteverde, but if I would have known how amazing this little town is I would have planned for a longer stay. Casa Tranquilo is a unique little hostel with VERY friendly and helpful service. Also has a little vegetarian restaurant next...

Stayed 2 nights in private room. Room was large and really good value Service was friendly and helpful and included breakfast was great. Location is convenient to Santa Elena town centre and bus to Monteverde cloud forest is on the corner out front. It's about 1.5hr downhill walk from the cloud forest back which the hostel recommended and was a...

I stayed in the dorm. For $11 per night including as fantastic breakfast it was a bargain. Emelle and Ronald on the front desk were extremely helpful. If you're going to go zip lining they can book you onto 100% adventura - I had been given three recommendations to use 100% and it was awesome!!

Sad but this could have been a 5 stars review. Firstly, we had a great welcoming by the staff with good advices and infos about the nearby attractions. The hostel offers basic facilities and accomodation that worth totally the 20$/night. So far everything was fine, we were able to sleep even if it's really windy and noisy outside. We were...

We stayed at Casa Tranquilo for 3 nights in December 2014. The rooms were nice but walls were a bit thin, which was fine as the other guests were very respectful of quiet hours. There is a reasonable kitchen and a grocery store just a couple hundred meters up the hill, which is great if you want to save some...

We only stayed for one night but were plesantly surprised - spacious double room and really nice social areas....... We were deciding what to do for the day and the guys pointed us toward their free tour to the strangler tree - only to climb it and repell down it!!! An ace day thanks to Filan - who I hope...

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights and we really think it was the best. Breakfast is quality food, beds are very comfortable, and the staff is very helpful and there for help. I'm surprised how good of service and amenities we got for such a good price. It was the only hostel during our Costa Rica trip...
