We stayed three nights in Monteverde at Casa Tranquilo. We had a great room above the restaurant looking out onto the street. The staff are quirky but super friendly and helpful in our experience. The place is quiet with a small common room, our dorm is split into two which makes it feel a bit more private. The shower is...

We really loved this hostel! The 8 beds dorm is big and well divided, so you still can have privacy. Also, for only 15$/night, the breakfast is included: coffee, gallo pinto, fresh fruits and banana bread - which is DELICIOUS. The wi-fi is free, the shower had hot water and for an additional fee, you can have you clothes washed....

I think the various good and bad reviews about this place must coincide with which staff are on duty or what sort of mood they are in. We were greeted by a bored, disinterested guy at reception and it went downhill from there. The hostel itself is nice enough with nice communal areas etc. However our private room was a...

I loved this hostel. It felt like home! For the 3 nights my friends and I were there we had an 8 bed dorm all to ourselves. It had a nice bathroom - with HOT - showers, a fridge and plenty of space. Also, waking up to the smell of fresh banana bread every morning was a bonus! The breakfast...

Nice place, some (not all) of the people at the reception are really nice and give you very useful advice. They have a small restaurant with good veggie food, the breakfast is free. The only thing is that kitchen is not open until 7, and buses to leave Santa Elena are early in the morning, so remember to take your...

Firstly I will start with the only good things about the accommodation. The breakfast and the wifi is reasonable. Also warm water sometimes. Pretty much this is a 1970 style wooden house and not much has been done to the building since then. The kitchen is small and the same with the rooms. Two beds (the single like a rock) and not much room...

Nice little hostel with a really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend booking ahead as it's not a huge place and seemed to be full most nights we were there. Good breakfast included. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Monteverde

Very nice place, lots of activities offered, nice home, very good breakfasts. The rooms are not of extreme comfort but are large enough. It feels really good. Perfect! If one day we return to Costa-Rica we will return directly to Casa Tranquilo!

Stayed in the dorms for two nights. One of the worst hostels I have been to during my 4 weeks backpacking costa rica, likely the worst. Pros: -Large complimentary breakfast -thats it Cons: - structural decay of stairs, walls, floor (you can see into the kitchen below) -Generally not clean, there are spider webs and dead insects everywhere. -Rude and...
