My girlfriend and I had a private room upstairs. There are cheaper rooms available downstairs, but I would definitively recommend spending a few dollars more to enjoy the ocean view. The room was very clean and spacious and probably the best value for money you get in town. Breakfast is included and pretty good. Rene is an amazing host who really cares about his guests. He has all information available on possible tours/activities and can easily book these over the phone. He had half the day off and went with us climbing a hollowed out tree - a fantastic experience. Thank you!
It is thanks to this place that we really could rest and have an amazing time in Monteverde. Rene will help with advice and booking tours. He is a great host. The hotel which is really cosy, has a nice view from the first floor, is very clean and the rooms are in nice light colours. You can really see how clean the rooms are with the light colours. The nice homey kitchen is for all guests. We would recommend this place to everyone and go back ourselves. :)
This is tucked away but a stone's throw away from the main square. Rene (co-owner) was integral to our trip- advising us on which tours to take but also recommending local companies. It's very clear the cabina and the town is very dear to his heart and this is reflecting in his helpful, genial manner. There was a beautiful kitten downstairs which kept coming up to our room- bonus points for that!!!! Rene didn't bat an eyelid when she was chilling on my bed :) I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the town- Rene is a fountain of knowledge and helps you plan based on your travelling style and budget.
Quiet and relaxed hostel with European and Costa Rican owners. Our large private room with 2 beds and a private bath was $30. The hostel and room is clean and well maintained. Breakfast of fruit, toast, and coffee (and eggs if you ask) is included and served by the owners in the morning. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked dinner all three nights while sharing some glasses of wine with one of the owners, and learning about Costa Rica. Information on tours is available, and we were even given recommendations for a free hike to a hollowed out tree that can be climbed from the inside. This is the place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful hostel with a view and cozy atmosphere. Recommended.
Fantastic little hostel for the price. We stayed on the main floor with a shared bath, but only 2 or 3 rooms so not a problem at all for us. Thought it would be noisy as the communal kitchen is right next door, but nice and quiet. The owner/manager is always nearby and everything is quiet at 10 PM. Breakfast is typical eggs, toast and fruit but Moka pots were churning out espresso and drip coffee could be made anytime. Rooms were very basic, but our friends got a larger room upstairs (private bath) and nice views. Would stay there again, next time! The street is a little out of the way, but only 3-5 minute walk to "downtown". Couple soda's close by, including the recommended Soda la Amistad.
