Where to begin? The grounds, the service, the room, the food or the view? Tambor Tropical is absolutely beautiful. My wife and I ended up here as a result of booking another place that was a dump. Fortunately we were able to make lemonade out...More

We just got back from 6 nights at Tambor Tropical and had a fantastic experience. It is a beautifully landscaped property. One of our favorite things about the property was the fact that is it home to wild Scarlet Macaws. They are amazing, beautiful birds...More

We flew into San Jose. There you can rent a car or take a bus. Both include crossing on ferry. We did the car and first went to uvita, which I loved. Jungle and swim able beaches. After tambor we went next door to montezuma glamping and yoga. Excellent. Just east of town. Coco, food gourmet. Expensive, but the tent cabins were a little less. Car not needed. On way to montezuma and up north: Careful, g map will direct you to routes that cannot be navigated. After hours of driving we had to turn around at a river.
Shuttle down beach on 4-wheel. From bus stop and cafe owned by same people. Or stay cheap in town cafe rooms with coco privs, fab pool. Waterfall, monkies. Horticultural achievement of 30 years+. Restaurant.
Then went north to all inclusive RIU resort. 2 side by side. Cheaper one is hideous loud party scene. Loudspeakers with game show events all day.
Previous years did carribean side. Best French food. Great small restaurants. Calm water. No real sunsets. Snorkel. Rec a car. Got robbed by thieves cutting screens to our room. While we slept.
