I came there to have a drink for sunset, and the nice lady at the bar served me a beautifully done piña colada, I loved it! The spot is amazing to watch sunset, the sound of the waves crashing and fishermen active.. nice!
Just returned from a 20 day stay at Sri Gemunu. Hotel is set right on the beach although the sea is very rough so bathing was a problem. Nice calm bay about 200m along the beach. If you like to spend leisurely days lying in the shade reading a book this place is ideal. Many trees along the hotel front offer lots of shade. The rooms are basic but clean and functional. There is a nice big wardrobe but no draws and the only chairs are on the balcony. The breakfast is very good always offered a good selection of fresh fruit daily. Especially good is the Sri Lankan breakfast. There is a very good selection of eggs with bacon. Lots of hot tea or coffee. We had quite a few evening meals at the hotel and were never disappointed with the food, again the Sri Lankan rice and curry is excellent. Not many bars and restaurants nearby but reception will willingly call you a Tuk tuk to take you into town. Best thing about this hotel are the staff so friendly and always will to go that extra mile to help or make your stay better.…
Me, my wife and my young son stayed at the Sri Gemunu resort for 5 days towards the end of Feb 2020. We had travelled around Sri Lanka for the previous week and a half and stayed in quite a few hotels. But this place was by far our best hotel and our favorite place. It was just awesome. The location is perfect - you’re only a hop skip and jump from the lagoon which is ideal for children to play in. Other restaurants are only a short tuk tuk ride away (you shouldn’t be paying more than 300 rps to get into town). The staff were also a delight and couldn’t do enough to help you. I highly highly recommend staying here! Hopefully we’ll come back one day!
Thanks for sending us off on our last night with a wonderful Sri Lankan Curry meal on the beach. Big props to the chef, it was delicious. Also thank you to whoever helped us out this morning when our taxi didn't arrive. That was well beyond the call of duty as we weren't even staying there. Massive appreciations and very kind. We'll be back!
Visited several places and hotell in Sri Lanka. Can not find and better than Sri Gemunu. The hotel has it all. Fabulous beach, Great location and a vert good restaurant. The staff are all verd helpful, and friendly.
A nice, clean resort, with a very friendly atmosphere and great food. All rooms have seaview and a lovely sunset 🌅 Sri Gemunu has also a nice small wellness centre really close by with a private swimming pool and a few small apartments to rent in a beautiful garden. The place is central situated to travel to all different sightseeings
These are solid 3-star accommodations. Clean, adequate, but certainly nothing fancy. The balcony overlooking the beach was highlight. The property is "beachside", but there is a grassy area plus a dining patio before you actually reach any sand. The beach area itself is pretty narrow, and rocky. The food offered in the cafe was mostly Western, which was a bit disppointing. There wasn't much within walking distance, but tuk-tuks are super cheap. The staff was friendly. This place was fine for one or two nights, but doesn't offer a whole lot if one is looking for an extended stay. Things to know: there is no elevator on the property and no door on the shower.
Good for family and couples. Decent crowd. Nice safe beach area. Well maintained and safe. Worth for the price. Food has to be improved though. Good staff guys. big parking area. Will go back again for sure.
We didn’t stay here at the resort but we decided to come to hang out and ended up having dinner here. We came with two kids (13 and 10) to okay along the beach and explore the large rock formations. The resort attendants were very friendly and let us hang out there even though we were not staying there. We ordered three curry meals and were blown away by the quality and the quantity of the food we got. Three meals were enough to feed the four of us (I over ate!) Highly recommend this resort, if not for friendliness of the staff and the food!
I spent 10 days in April. After doing a wonderful yoga retreat at Kalutura it was beautiful to see a different side of Sri Lanka which is my favourite country I have visited so far. I cant say enough nice things about Sri Geminu Resort. The location right on the beach, watching the turtles surfing, being able to swim. The incredible staff who always smile and can't do enough for you The chefs who go out of their way to accommodate you. Its one place I would go back to. The jewelry shop has some nice pieces. The only negative would be the rip off tuk tuk drivers across the road. After 3 days of being ripped off I came across a very honest driver called Shantha ph 077 288 1643. There is good yoga down the road at Shanti yoga. The massages I had through the resort were great. I am a solo middle aged woman but felt very comfortable and safe.…
