The Bay House now welcomes guests into its 9 rooms and 15 beds, and whether you’re staying in our spacious hostel dorm or lounging in a private bungalow, Dots invites all guests to explore all that the property has to offer. Our garden area is perfect to while away the day with a good book in our comfortable hammocks. If you're tired of reading, join other guest in our common area to play billiards, pingpong or jump in our swimming pool. Our outdoor restaurant/bar is tucked away in a jungle setting. We’ve got the comfiest chairs to nap in while we serve fresh locally sourced food. Happy hour is daily from 18:00 till 19:00 and join our vibrant live music (band + DJ) events on Saturday and Tuesday. In our new yoga shala we offer daily yoga classes with an ocean view at 8 am & 5 pm. Public spaces have free WiFi access, hammocks a puppies!

The best decision we made is by staying at Dots Bay House in Hiriketita. The poolside bungalow was a beautiful bungalow and the room was spacious. The exterior of the pool has a truly relaxing vibe. The Hiriketiya beach is just outside the hotel. You can't beat this location in Hiriketiya. Close walk to all the other happening spots on the Hiriketiya beach. If you're a surfer then think no further and stay here because the surfing boards are given free to their guests. Yoga every morning as well.
The team of staff was super friendly and the food is amazing! We were fortunate to try some of their Michelin star food for dinner. Plenty of options for vegetarian and vegans too.
For breakfast I had the eggs bene with potato croquettes, greens and smoked pork knuckle. It was too good to explain! My husband ordered the crab omelette but it had a very little crab but the flavour was good. The crab fried rice and pork belly with rice and pizzas were really good. The gin cocktails are yummy although almost all cocktails are on the pricey side for us locals.
The entertainment in the evening is the perfect wind down to a day and since you stay on the property it's FOC. Music stops by 12.30am latest so you still get plenty of sleep.
We were at the bay for the longest time and having stayed at this gem of a property, it was ideal.

My stay at Dots was very comfortable, it’s the closest well known hotel to the beach, our room was by the swimming pool and very quiet and peaceful, room decor was the epitome of ‘beach vibe’ equipped with All emnities, the pizza we ordered was exquisite and service was fantastic. The staff members were very warm & friendly made us feel homely. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone keen in visiting the horse shoe bay in Hiriketiya

The staff is very unporfessional with poor attitude and they must first get to learn what "HOSPITALITY"means. We (friends) booked for one night stay and ordered food and beverages for dinner. The bill was settled soon after finished dinning and when we about to leave to our rooms, one person from the staff came with a second bill saying that we didn't settle our bill. Even after informing them that we already payed these staff guys were fussing around to settle the second bill. It took some time to realise us that they are paying a trick on us. Even after we left the place to the rooms, on our way (past mid night ) two staff people started chasing us and attempted to get into a fight over the bill discussionwhich is very unprofessional and threating. we never ever expected this attitude from the staff. However knowing their intention we did not get in to an argument. After all their drama, next morning, the staff persons started to make calls to one of us and keep on asking to whether we have settled our bill last night. even after paying the bill and had gone through all the drama they are funny enough to repeat the same in the next morning. It was hilarious and so intolerable as well. Since I am a traveller and have been travelled locally and overseas, (most hotels were luxury) this is my first negative experience . I would rather call it a harassment and even it's pathetic that it happend in my own country. When we complained to the Manager next morning he acted liked a saint saying that his staff never behave so. Also we realised that these people have attempted to damage our vehicle other night after their attempt to get into a fight. With years of travelling experience, and first time after Covid, holidays with friends, I want to make aware that this place is very unprofessional and staff is with a poor attitude issues. Dots is a very unsafe place and never recommend to any locals, specially foreigners if you want to have a safer and polite hospitality and travelling experience in Sri Lanka. Since the Covid hit our tourism industry, the tourism industry must never forget that domestic tourists stood by the industry and have given the fullest support on your business during the hard tiems. You guys need to learn the basics.

As for the actual details of the situation you have described, I have to note that our staff would never threaten or trick a guest or attempt to damage any property. We are a family at Dots and no one would get away with this sort of behavior. However, the confusion that arose made you feel unsafe and for that we are very sorry. The staff are nice, the location is great, the food and drinks are good. Great atmosphere and the room is really large and looks cool. Staff are super friendly with our kids which is awesome BUT....
We have paid $100USD/night to stay in the deluxe family suite and it keeps running out of water! No shower, no flushing toilet. First day in check in (2pm) no water and told it would be 20mins. At 6pm still no water and then told it would be 15mins. Hour and a half later it come back. Next night no water at 9pm. 3rd day no water in the afternoon.
The rest of the hotel has water as we are told to use the common facilities. I’ve done plenty of backpacking in my younger days and usually wouldn’t care but we are a young family (3yr old and 1yr old) who were happy to spend a bit extra to have facilities in our room. You can’t charge premium hotel rates and then not have a usable bathroom in your room. Staff are apologetic and have offered a free meal which is nice - but that’s not flushing the toilet or bathing our kids in privacy.
Cool joint, great staff but sorry we paid $100USD/night for extra facilities. Yes the government cuts water supply during droughts but the water cart needs to come more regularly if a premium price is still being charged.

A friend recommended Dots bay house to us - we are staying in Talallah and it’s a 10 min tuk ride. The food at Dot’s bay house is amazing and the vibe is relaxed and friendly. Could spend days here! The music is good, the sun is shining - bring your friends

We really enjoyed our stay at Dots Bay House. The staff is warm and welcoming and always willing to help. It has a very pleasant atmosphere, and the communal area is a nice place to hang out. The food is unique a very good. If you have dietary restrictions such as gluten and dairy free they are helpful and accommodating. The beach is close by and it’s nice. On Saturday night they had live music that we enjoyed. We had a family room which was a little rustic. The only problem we had was we could only get WiFi in the communal area by the office.

Another place we only had a single night in, we really wished it were more by the end, what a little gem of a place. My partner and I are not the dorm room / hostel type any more, we like our own space. The room we had booked was unfortunately under maintenance when we arrived, but the helpful staff relocated us to the villa. The villa is three bedrooms so was a little overkill for the two of us, but the plunge pool was nice. the villa itself is a little bit away from the main house, and as it wasn't our originally booked location the guys laid on free tuks for us to come down to the main house for drinks and dinner / breakfast.
We wandered around the area and eventually came back to the main location for dinner as all of the food looked excellent, and it was! We tried several of the cocktails, which were all delicious, and breakfast was amazing as well. the staff were all super friendly and very helpful, we weren't able to utilise much of the facilities on offer as we only had the one night but everything looked great.

Very nice spot at hiriketyia beach. Nice ambiente and good drinks. Food was great too. The waiters were super friendly and they are opened the whole day from breakfast to dinner. Very stylish and good music - and it is also a hostel - booked out early so try to get a room in advance.

Cannot beat this place. Good vibes. Good people. Amazing accommodation. Food is delicious. And live music. What more could you want? The beaches are so beautiful here and the facilities at Dots is unreal and affordable for all. The hostel have separate beds with your own little cabin which is exactly what you need when travelling alone or with friends. Could not recommend this place enough! Definitely coming back!
