Great place! Very friendly people. At first we booked for 2 nights, but extended our stay for 2 more nights. One of our best stays during our 3 week trip through Sri Lanka. We had some rain, and with rain you can expect some slippery terrain. The hotel is pretty much directly on the beach. Just one road and some bars in between. The food here is also really nice. During our stay we had a night with a lot of rain, so we stayed in and ordered some food to come up to our room. This was very good! Would definitely recommend!

We stayed 2 nights here of our 3 nights at Hiriketiya. The Rooms are all new and very spacious and clean, however there is no daily cleaning of rooms. Nice Cold Air Conditioner. Very Large Toilet but no shower cubicle sadly. Good Quality linen and sleep quality of mattress. The rooms had a mini fridge too. Staff were very friendly and courteous. The Location to the Beach is the best.. just 20m away and lots of dinning options withing 2-3 mins walk.

Clean rooms, decent food, good coffee and just across a super beach restaurant (Utopia). The rooms are clean and comfortable. The only issue is the bathroom that has no railing for a towel / swimmers and no separation between the shower area and then rest of the loo so the whole space gets wet after a shower. This wouldn't have been so bad if the tiles were sloped so that there's no water retention and / or if there was a wiper to push the water out. Apart from this no complaints.
The food is ok - nothing to complain about. But there are also plenty of eating options around the place. The property and restaurant and managed by 2 different people so bills have to be paid for the food separately and can't be added on to the room.

Excellent location, rooms and staff. Nothing is a problem. Right across the road from the beach and bars, this has the bonus of being situated in a quiet spot, so we were not kept awake by late night partying. Booked 4 nights, we stayed 6. Highly recommended.

Horrible place, very unclean. Not worth the price at all, toilets have no shower cubicles
water gets stagnated on the corridors and on stair case, I had a terrible fall as there was water collected on the stairs and very poor lighting, i was badly bruised, could have been fatal. I have attached pictures that I took the next morning.
Terrible place, and an absolute ripoff. Would not recommend this place at all.

Beautiful hotel and restaurant. Great value for money, comfortable, clean rooms with air con. Restaurant served delicious food and lovely ambience in the garden seating area. All staff were lovely and friendly, we ended up returning a week later for 2 further nights. Perfect location by the beach for enjoying Hiri!

Nous avions réservé 3 jours et sommes resté une semaine. Tout est propre et agréable. Les gens sont charmants et attentionnés , ils nous proposent de faire la chambre , ce n'est pas automatique, seulement à la demande. Depuis les derniers avis , il y a un couple d iraniens au top qui s'occupent du resto et des petits déjeuners. Ils sont non seulement adorables , mais en plus, on mange bien. Et pas cher pour Hiriketiya. Nous nous sommes régalés aussi avec les jus de fruits frais et smoothies. Les seuls de l'île à ne pas rajouter d eau. C'est appréciable. Le gérant nous a emmèné voir des tortues , une île magnifique. Bref, ils sont au petit soins . Nous avons passé un excellent séjour et sommes tristes de les quitter. Les chambres sont spacieuses, propres. Certains trouvent qu'il manque des équipements, mais nous sommes au Sri-Lanka, pas à Paris , New-York ou Genève. Le luxe , ici , c'est d avoir de l'eau chaude et de la propreté. C'est le cas ici. Il y a même clim , frigo et ventilation ! Terrasse au sud. 2 minutes à pied de la plage magique d Hiriketiya. Quand à ceux qui râlent parcequil y a des trous sur la route en face.... je préfère même pas leur dire ce que je pense de leur manière de voyager et de la tolerance qu'ils devraient avoir pour des pays pauvres comme celui-ci, qui ont un peuple en plus vraiment adorable. Bref , allez y , vous ne serez pas déçu. Merci à toute l'équipe. C'était magique

Having booked through Booking.com, five of us, three adults and two kids, arrived at Bay Hiriketiya Hotel at about 3.30 pm on 22nd December 2019 for a 3-night stay. There are altogether seven rooms, three of which are listed as deluxe. The 2km public road to the hotel from the main road is narrow and in a state of disrepair. After the recent rains, the access road and the road in front of the hotel was muddy. To get to the beach, a distance of about 150 feet, we had to negotiate ourselves away from the muddy holes filled with water! We had one of the only two parking spaces available. We were allocated two deluxe rooms (each room with a king bed and 2 single beds) in accordance with our booking. Baggage was brought to our rooms. The rooms were spacious, with clean fresh bedding but most of the space was taken up with the beds. Deluxe definition appears to mean additional beds but nothing more. Included in the rooms: air-conditioner - cupboard - 2 side tables for the double bed - dressing table - clothes rack - 2 bottles of water - 2 glasses, kettle and fridge. There was free Wifi. The room would have been somewhat complete had there been a tv and some sachets of tea and coffee. We used the extra beds to keep our baggage and as a place to sit! The bathroom too was spacious, clean with fresh towelling, a cake of soap and hot shower. At the price charged (Approximately Rs 25000 per room per day) I expected toothpaste, shampoo, liquid soap, shower cap and a hair dryer at the very least. The shower area is not enclosed nor curtained with water spraying all over when taking a bath. We were advised not to drink water from the tap presumably because it was untreated water. We used purchased bottled water when brushing our teeth. There is no bar at the facility although there are many drinking places close-by. The hotel staff are limited to three and are therefore not equipped to provide meals other than breakfast. Some of us asked for continental breakfast while others had Sri Lankan hoppers and string hoppers. We had to go back to our rooms to wash our hands as there was no place for that in the dining area. It is a pity to see the owners attempting to maximise their profits after charging a heavy room price (approximately Rs 25000 per night per room) without providing basic facilities normally expected at those rates! The staff were, courteous, friendly and helpful. The two stars allocated reflect the clean rooms and the helpful and caring staff. For the price charged the amenities provided are woefully inadequate!
