Very nice place. My son enjoyed to cool himself in the little pool. Beautiful park/garden where wild animals visit also. The lodge was simple but clean and comfortable. Food very good and the service excellent. Only obviously the guides that work from morning to evening are treated differently from other guests. We had to argue to let our friend and guide dine with us and he was served simpler food. This really has a spirit of pure old fashioned colonialism that we cannot accept. I will never stay here again, but no shadow cast on the staff who were really excellent! If the policy changes maybe I will consider it again. For my own travel company I will not send my customers here if this policy will not be changed immediately.
We were in a group of 15 staying in small 2 and 3 bed huts in the grounds. We used the pool, restaurant and the camp fire. Travelled to the Safari park and the falls which were quite close. You have to get used to limited times for electricity and wifi, but facilities a;; worked and we were well looked after.
We spent a very relaxing two nights in Sambiya Lodge. Firstly it is located in the beautiful and breathtaking Murchison Falls National Park. Being immersed in nature and among the local wildlife gave us a needed break from work and a change of environment. At Sambiya Lodge Debbie and the staff gave us a warm welcome and took care of us and answered all of our questions and arranged a lovely stay for us. The pool was a great place to relax after having seen all the sights in the day. Debbie is a wealth of knowledge of the area and also proved to be a great contact for us with our professional work. Thanks everyone at Sambiya Lodge. Hope to visit again!
This lodge is located away from the busy part of the Murchison NP. It's calm and relaxed with view over the Sambiya river banks where buffalos, baboons and warthogs are grazing, but no mosquitos! Only 15 minutes drive to the falls and 25-30 to the ferry. An economic choice for those who prefer a quiet place. Families are warmly welcome. The rooms are simple, but clean and the refreshing pool is a must after a long game drive. The restaurant offers a variety of local and international dishes. Plus an extra is the very friendly and helpful staff!
My two sons and I stayed at the Sambiya River Lodge for three nights. Debbie, the owner, is a great host. She was on top of every detail. The food is excellent and the staff is quite nice. The only con is that the facilities are a bit dated but the rooms are comfortable, clean, and no bug issues. I would definitely recommend it!
