Travellers' Choice
For true Highland hospitality come to the Highlander, a hotel renowned for its good food and warm welcome. The hotel is an ideal base for touring the North of Scotland with mountain ranges, forests, lochs and river valleys waiting to be explored. Wind down in our inviting restaurant serving an array of dishes made from locally sourced produce. Perhaps a wee dram from the bar would suit; choose a whisky from one of the many local distilleries for which this area is famous for throughout the world.

Lovely hotel, from the outside reminded me of a ski resort from bygone days all adding to the charm and appeal. Communal areas were spacious with great covid procedures throughout and a nice beer garden to the side, the gardens are lovely and well looked after. Rooms are very reasonably priced, clean and modern, the bed was very comfortable and a great shower in the bathroom. The staff were exceptional and could teach those in far more expensive venues a thing or two. Dog friendly rooms and dedicated areas for dining with our dog. We had dinner which was wholesome and served quickly suggesting all pre cooked but we enjoyed it and can understand the need to be organised in a kitchen in these difficult covid times, our only feedback would be that the portions could have been a touch larger. A great customer focused experience all thanks to the fantastic staff who work hard and made us feel so welcome especially with our dog. Would recommend to all and will absolutely stay again in the future.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful, very quick to respond to any requests, such as putting all our wet hillwalking gear in the boiler room, providing more teas and coffees in the room, giving us a heater in the room as soon as they knew ours was broken, and having it replaced next day Would definitely visit again

Stayed here for the second weekend of May and really enjoyed our stay. Whilst the exterior is in need of an refresh, the inside more than made up for it. The reception area was spotless and all COVID precautions observed, we felt very safe the whole weekend as all the guests and staff adhered to social distancing, mask wearing etc. Our room was on the first floor and was spotless and clean. Bathroom had been updated and was spotless, with the choice of two shower heads. The bed was super comfy and we had two good nights sleep. There was the beer garden in operation, but due to the cold on our first night and the rain on the second, we only managed one drink outside. There was a limited number of guests which was good for our first visit. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, from the dining room staff to the receptionist. The food was amazing and plenty of choice for everyone. Would definitely visit again as the hotel is perfectly placed to to lots of exploring.

We stayed at the Highlander Hotel the first weekend of May. This was a trial period for fully reopening on the 17th. It was great to get away. All the staff were brilliant, and looked after us very well. Anti covid rules were followed, but we never felt alienated. Meals were very tasty....just needed a bigger full breakfast. Hope they let us return. Andy B

This hotel is designed for tours and coach parties and had a large restaurant and bar area. However as a single traveller I was made to feel welcome. The decor is dated in the rooms and in the communal areas but all were well maintained and spotless. The room was large as was the ensuite shower room but, it was warm and well maintained. There was a large dressing table area along with plenty of drawers. There was also a chair, table and fitted wardrobes offering lots of hanging space. The bar was large with plenty of tables and chairs and a good selection of whiskies and beers. The Monarch Restaurant offered a limited selection on the menu but was certainly adequate and welcome in the cold weather. The restaurant is brightly lit like a canteen, but the tables had white cloths on them which softened the appearance a little. I had a rather good salmon mouse which was delicious and fish and chips afterwards - which was ok. The food is reasonably priced and the service good. Breakfast was to order due to Covid. There was porridge on the menu and the full Scottish a little on the greasy side but ok
