I would recommend this on the B and B basis but not the AI. No bars as such just 1 in the restaurant. Only place to go in matagorda at night is a shopping centre with a few bars and eating places, we caught the bus into Carmen most nights. For me a little quite not much to do

Just spent 8 nights here and loved every minute. However it's not for the average Brit as you will be the only ones there. It really caters for eastern Europeans, mainly Czech over 55's who counted for up to 90% of clientele while we were there. It especially shows in the restaurant food. Don't get me wrong it's still good food. The hotel itself is approx 100m from the inland sea beach and having a high floor front view is a must. We had three rooms all next to each other on the 7th floor directly looking to the beach. Superb sunsets. The rooms are lovely with a nice size bathroom, decent size flatscreen TV on the wall which you can swith programs back into English, just ask the lady on reception for the pin code, and best of all is a full size fridge. Not forgetting the all important A/C. All the staff were helpful and friendly, reception can't do enough for you. The bar area is by the reception and the was live music entertainment every night. There is an underground garage (extra charge) but you would only need it in the summer months as plenty of parking around. The pool and jacuzzi area are wonderful. All in all we loved this hotel. Good food, reasonably priced bar, nice clean rooms and great staff. Will definitely book again for next late Sept/Oct. Thank guys for a great end to this year's tour.

This is lovely hotel with very helpful staff. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful and Pedro was so accommodating. We had an issue with people smoking in the next room and the reception staff went out of their way to move us and make sure we were happy. We will definitely return.

How much thought did I put into choosing this hotel? Next to nothing. I'll explain. I had booked another hotel and found out, with two days to go, that it had yet to open for the season. With flights and rental car booked, I was in a panic to find another hotel. This fit the bill because it was in the right location, at the right price and it had a room available. Wow! This is a great hotel. It is large but it feels small. It is in a perfect location - minutes walk to Mar Menor and to the Med, bars, restaurants and shops. It has parking around, a paid parking facility, near the bus stop, near taxis and 40 minutes drive from the nearest airport. My room? I never thought I would miss a hotel room, but I will miss this one! Spacious, spotless, room with a double bed, great strorage, a gorgeous balcony and a massive bathroom! (a couple more channels in English would have been welcome though). The room has air conditioning but I switched it off as I hate the sound at night. The room also has a fridge which is a plus as well as a minus. A plus in that I had a store of cold drinks which was wonderful in the hot weather and a minus in that it woke me up a couple of times each night. Having access to cold drinks won out though! The pool area is small and perfectly maintained. Great quality of sun loungers and umbrellas. It opens only between 10.30am to 8.30pm. I was a bit peeved when I saw these times but it makes perfect sense as the sun is in the area during those times. There are three showers and a hot tub. The pool is really pleasant to swim in. The pool area also has a bar/cafe facility which is open all day. I sat there at night and could see the amazing sunset on the Mar Menor. I booked 'all inclusive' because the deal was too good to refuse. I presumed that I would eat there for breakfast and lunch but venture out for dinner. I ate in the hotel every meal time. The opening times are just perfect - with dinner served up until 10.30pm, I could still eat at the hotel even when I had been out all day. I chose to eat at the hotel - not merely because of the times but the selection. The team of chefs did everything to meet all culinary tastes and the choice was fab. At some meals, there was also a chef on the floor cooking omeletes or toasted sandwiches or sweet crepes or portioning a whole salmon cooked in salt. Paella was served at each lunch and it was very tasty indeed. I even got to sample my first chocolate fountain. Food served at lunch and dinner is also different. Real thought goes into the preparation and choice of dishes. The bar is open until 12.30am. All inclusive drinks finish at 11 but if you want to pay, you can continue to order. This is a real plus. I have stayed in other places where the bar and all inclusive finish at 11 so you can't even get a bottle of water after this. Any lowpoints? I like to read. There was (loud) entertainment each night with someone playing music. The only place I could escape to was my room (where I could still hear it) or off site. This is my own personal bugbear but it would have been nice to escape it. On one particular night, I had no option but to go straight to my room after dinner, it was that loud. And the highpoints? The staff. The whole place smacks of professionalism and commitment to standards. The attention to detail observed by so many staff members was stunning. These feel like career professionals, not merely seasonal staff. Everyone I met was exceptional. As a solo traveller, I wondered would I feel odd but I was made so welcome that I would actually holiday alone again!

On the positive side the suites are clean, good air conditioning and wifi is excellent. The bar in the hotel is very cheap. On the negative side the hotel has an iron but no ironing table, there is no kettle in the room, the buffet breakfast could be better, especially the cooked breakfast, the food is very greasy and a bit cold.. don't try the scrambled egg!! The lifts are a bit shaky and lastly the staff need to smile, a bit dour!!

We checked into this hotel last night and have been more than pleasantly surprised. We have a junior suite, en-suite walk-in shower room, air conditioning, a huge very comfortable bed, double leather sofa bed, two balconies with lovely views. The staff have been extremely helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us, even providing extra pillows and an extension cable for my CPAP machine (I have sleep apnoea). The rate was half that of another hotel further up the coast. Breakfast was a great spread of choice: continental buffet or sausage, bacon & eggs, cereal, fruit etc or a bit of everything. Swimming pool is clear and clean, plenty of beds and brollies. Can't fault any of it. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back.
