We stayed at the Rosa Nautica for 11 days towards the end Aug 2019. Its a smaller quieter Hotel but we were generally pleased with our selection. Room was on 2nd floor and we had a nice partial sea view just above the entrance. Rooms were quite small and walls were thin. Beds were a bit noisy We missed a fridge and the air con was not as good as our friends in the HTOP down the road. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable and evening meals were really, really, good. We always entered restaurant early for the evening meal and had a good choice of table. I think we were the only English family in the hotel for the first week, so all nationalities, which we liked. This was confirmed by the fact that not one English tour guide book in reception. Beach was minutes walk away, was quite windy and gets deep quickly. Having said that we spent most days on the beach and in the sea. Train runs from about 7 in morning till late in evening so doesn’t disturb your sleep. We went to Barcelona and Tossa da Mar which were definitely worth a visit. There is a tourist information office right outside the hotel which were really helpful, excellent staff in there. We also visited the Water/dolphin park which was great. Area generally is very flat and will be good for disabled. Gerona Airport is about 1 hour away buy bus. Not sure we would go back to this area again but we thoroughly enjoyed staying in this small hotel and resort.

The Rosa Nautica looks inviting as you enter the reception but believe me looks are deceptive. Let me start with the positives first.. The toilet roll in bathroom is decent quality and the beds are quite big. The lady on reception is lovely and helpful and the cleaners are friendly. Thats as good as it gets I'm afraid, the rooms are not soundproofed and when they have the entertainment on its impossible to sleep. The rooms are very dated and they don't even have facilities for making a cuppa. We only had one socket available to use to charge our phones etc. The food is very poor and looks disgusting. They had a Mexican themed night but there was nothing apart from a little pasta for guests who don't like Mexican food and when we complained that there was nothing to eat we were told there was pasta. We had to go to a local restaurant and eat which isn't really fair when you have paid for half board. Most nights I had to eat chips rice and a little salad as the meat was served in some sort of spicy gravy and it was to be honest Rank. Breakfasts were little better as the beans were lukewarm at best, eggs were very greasy and who really wants chips and hotdogs at 8am. The hotel is geared towards Italian, German, and Spanish guests and it doesn't really make much of an effort with British guests. If you want a quiet hotel with decent food then avoid the Rosa Nautica at all costs.

Stayed here for a week's holiday. Arrived late at night and was given a basic room on the 6th floor. The room was adequate for what was needed. There was a large enough wardrobe although more hangers would have been nice, dressing table (not necessary for 2 blokes having a break), 2 quite comfortable beds, and a good bathroom with a walk in shower with plenty of hot water but surprisingly no bidet. The food was of a good standard and we were always able to find something to satisfy the appetite. Breakfasts included bacon, eggs, beans and a variety of cold meats, cheese etc. Evening meals had a variety of hot dishes and salads. One criticism was that the food was not labelled so it was a bit of a guessing game when selecting your meal. The staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were cleaned and towels were changed daily. The reception staff were helpful and the dining room staff were good at clearing tables and replenishing food. If anyone is considering going to Malgrat for a holiday I would definitely recommend the Rosa Nautica.

My mother (61) likes this part of Spain (Costa Brava) for it's beaches and clean sea. I like to vary the area we stay in and this was our first time in Malgrat de Mar. We very much keep to the hotel food and entertainment so I can't tell you much about that outside the hotel. All staff that we encountered was nice, polite and helpful. We particularly liked to talk to staff in the restaurant. The restaurant can get chaotic especially over a weekend when the locals turn up as it gets very busy. We went full board so only juice and coffee at breakfast were included but once we worked out what had to be done over lunches and dinner with regards to drinks, it was all okay. For dinners, you need to wait to be seated. I can't remember if it is the same for lunches. We have enjoyed the food. Plenty to go about, always hot, the kitchen was refiling everything throughout. The chefs took pride in what was served (within budget). There also were themed nights. The rooms were big enough for the two of us. Always clean. Fresh towels when we needed them. Our room had a view of the sea. Walls on the thinner side but they are everywhere else we have been so far. There is entertainment. Live music, dancers, etc. The hotel is almost on the beach. Very short walk. The underpass flooded during a storm. Beach is grainy which we prefer. For souvenirs, there are plenty of shops around. There is also a pharmacy across the road. This resort is about two hours by bus from Barcelona airport. We have enjoyed every part of our stay. When we go away, we go to relax. Enjoy the sun, the beach and the sea. We also spends some time by the pool. For the price, the hotel fulfilled our expectations. We will definitely be back. Can't fault it. Thank you Hotel Rosa Nautica for a fab holiday (almost a year ago!).

We originally booked in a different hotel, but was overbooked so given this one a few weeks before departure. Good location, just over the road from a nice beach. Sea view room. Room was nice.Good shower, and bath. Always had hot water. Very old mattress, and bed linen/towels. Room cleaned/towel changed daily. Beds changed every other day. We went half board. Nowhere to get a lunchtime snack in the area, only restaurants. Food was a bit hit and miss. A bit bland.Dinner had lots of salads, lots of dessert choices.Always had chips and pasta for kids available.Could have coffee, juice ect with breakfast, but not with the evening meal.Breakfast was cooked (sausage, bacon, beans, scrambled eggs, fried eggs), pastry's,toast, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, orange juice. Hotel was strict about people taking own drinks into restaurant, and pool side. The pool was very cold. Not alot of people used it. Not enough sunbeds. Inflatables not allowed in the pool. My 10 year old was upset by this. Great mix of nationalities. Very few british, which is a good thing! Overall, we enjoyed our week in the sun.
