#1 of 53 hotels in Santa Eulalia del Río
Travellers' Choice
Much anticipated and off the beaten track, W Ibiza strikes a pose on the palm-fringed, sand-drenched beachfront of Santa Eulalia. As the only global brand on the island, the seasonal escape mixes the parallel realities of Ibiza with a magnetic pull that turns up the sass. This is where you get to stay and play with a brand that was made for the White Isle. Sun-kissed and diverse, Ibiza is more than an island, it’s a brand. This is where flower power meets club culture and myths, legends and nature amplify the compulsive, enigmatic spirit. As the third largest town, Santa Eulalia totally owns its relaxed pace and cosmopolitan attitude. Offering up a heady mix of local art galleries, trendy boutiques and amazing dining, alongside gorgeous beaches and dive-deep sea. Just 21km from Ibiza Airport, you can style it out among the chic marina and hotspots in no time.

There's no question, this is a luxury hotel. Striking design and everything's really well maintained. Food and drinks are excellent. Highly recommend "The Yellow One" drink. Staff are incredibly friendly and professional. They even change the floor mats in the lift to say "Good Morning", "Good Afternoon" etc. And this is one of the few hotels I've been to that gave us a late checkout until 3pm. But there are some quite annoying design decisions in the rooms. For example, some of the rooms have a basin in the room instead of the bathroom. Personally, I like to have some private time in the bathroom and find this pretty inconvenient. They moved us to another room thankfully (special thanks to Hugo). Another annoying design decision is no locks on the bathroom doors. I have no idea why they did this. The designer has obviously never had a toddler. Also, no-one wants to be walked in on when they're on the loo. And no-one wants to announce to their partner every time they go to the loo so that they don't get walked in on. "Darling, I'm going to the loo so please don't come in. Due to the spicy dinner last night, I may be some time." Very romantic! There's music playing throughout the hotel all, day, long. And it gets louder and louder as the day progresses. Loudest at night up until around midnight and sometimes beyond. If you're there to party then you'll love it. If you're not, it might annoy you. And if you want to get to sleep before midnight or 1am, bring some earplugs. Yes, I'm not in my 20's or 30's anymore - can you tell? Beach loungers are managed by a different company and very hard to come by. You need to book them well in advance.

Hi bokie, Many thanks indeed for your review and thank you for staying with us! I am glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your experience and I was especially pleased to hear about the high level of service. We have taken your comments on board about the design. The room design is open plan - with the aim to provide a comfortable, flexible and multi-functional space. I hope that this won’t deter you from returning to us in the near future. Best regards, Igor.buercher@whotels.com General Manager

We stayed at the W hotel near end of September 2021, first time at a 5 star hotel .., Staff we’re lovely , couldn’t be more helpful. We had a sea view twin room, first thing that we found to be a problem was the rooms all faced rooms opposite so opening curtains fully was a problem as you could see right into rooms, didn’t want to leave shade down all the time. Could have done with a dressing table with a chair and plug socket near. Only had fridge to put makeup on .., not enough room in bathroom to do hair and makeup if partner in there showering. There was no complimentary milk, only espresso coffee… had to ask for tea and milk … then got charged for milk delivered in a glass, but did manage to get it taken off the bill. No complimentary biscuits or snacks. Thought food and drink in hotel and beach restaurant was expensive … could not get a bottle of wine under 30 euros. Very deep based Piped music or DJ music went on until 11pm. Got a bit fed up with it … just wanted to hear the sea and enjoy some peace. Wanted a drink in Glow bar on Monday evening after dinner with friends but it was taken over by a film night event, felt this event could have been put in an indoor venue as people just laying on sun beds wrapped in blankets watching a film when with such spectacular views from the Glow bar was a waste, so we were very disappointed not to be be to have a nice evening drink in there. La llama restaurant was closed for evening meals . Only found out on last day that sun beds on beach near hotel were free if staying in hotel, wish we were told that on arrival . Mrs A

There are some really excellent elements to this hotel. The hotel and pool area are really well designed and the rooms look great. The staff in the pool and beachside area are super friendly. So why the poor review? Staying at this hotel is a massive gamble depending on which hotel room they allocate you. We paid extra for their ‘fabulous’ room which was anything but. I wished we had read the other negative reviews identifying the same problem rooms as we would have refused to accept the room at check in. If they allocate you room 204, 205, 206 or 207 and you actually want some sleep then you will be disappointed. These rooms are directly above the DJ and in the evenings the rooms are essentially like a nightclub. The beat of the music was so bad that items in the room were bouncing which isn’t what you expect at 130 in the morning. The music goes on and on. In the night this five star hotel turns into a badly run youth club. The music is turned up at the night progresses even at the point when there are no guests downstairs. The music is purely for the staff. On three separate occasions we had to complain. Each time there were excuses. The music should have stopped by now. The music shouldn’t be in the pool area. The music then stops only for it to be turned up 30 mins later - again not for guests but for staff. The hotel knows that there is a design fault with these rooms but they simply aren’t concerned about the guest experience. We were glad to leave.

The W Ibiza is a colorful addition to the Marriott hotel group in the Balearics. Just opened in 2020, after a forced break last year due to corona, it's coming back to life. Right on the beach, it offers what you need to feel hip, trendy and refreshed. In addition to the WETDeck (which can be shaded in the afternoon) and the rooftop terrace, the immediate proximity to the beach and the small revitalized town of Santa Eulalia with its lovely palm tree promenade entice you to linger. Various fine small restaurants offer themselves, to Eivissa town it is less than 30 minutes. The W offers the grill restaurant La Llama, the VeCafé, a vegan and vegetarian option and directly on the beach in a relaxed ambience, the Chiringuito Blue with cuisine from the eastern Mediterranean. Mediterranean features permeate the rooms and suites of the W Ibiza, offering a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. In addition to the welcoming cocoons, most of them have sea view. A Cool Corner room with direct sea view is recommended, ideal for a couple without children. It has a king-size bed, a cool lounge area and a small mirrored bathroom with shower. If you're lucky, it even has its own terrace overlooking the bay. The average standard rooms are about 25m2 and the suite types, some with impressive ocean views on their own terraces, offer not that much space for storage or hanging clothes - true to the W style - reduce to the max. The 160-plus rooms are colorfully decorated, with minibar, Bluetooth speaker and huge TV. There's also a very stylish bar on the ground floor with high ceilings and music backed by a DJ. The service is extremely friendly, maybe not always top, but they make an effort. The breakfast buffet is second to none in Ibiza, highly recommended also for out-of-towners. By the way, the W Ibiza is one of the few Ws in the group that also welcomes families. The W hotel division is known for the daring, the unusual and new, innovative design and a hedonistic lifestyle. If you are attracted by the Ibiza feeling and a refreshing but simple design, you have come to the right place. I believe in the W and wish the refreshing resort a successful season. My Expert rating in total 8/10 - for location 10/10, for service, facility & maintenance 8/10, rooms 8/10, for style and character 9/10 and value for money 8/10
