Had a nice 4 day break here for 2 adults . Breakfast was fantastic , great variety & replenished regularly . Waiting staff were great . Reception very friendly & helpful . Beach was lovely & clean We did pay extra for a sea view suite but despite facing & hearing the sea you couldn't actually see it from the patio unless you stood up (Beats the point of a relaxing sea view room with a drink ) There was also a stained sofa bed in the lounge area At the price we paid we wouldn't return but chose somewhere closer to Alvor harbour area as it's a beautiful place
It’s our 3rd time of staying at this hotel. As always we had a fantastic time. We were very well looked after by the staff who are always so willing to assist. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very comfortable if you wanted to sit in the lounge area downstairs. The pool area was also well looked after and clean. There was no reserving of the sun beds like there used to be thank goodness. Our room was lovely we had a suite on the first floor, the only downside was the maids cleaning the room as we would have liked them done in the morning so that we had the afternoons to relax but this was not the case . I’m guessing there are not enough maids and that’s why it takes them a while to do the rooms. Not a criticism though and it did not spoil our holiday. We will definitely be back again.…
Stayed for 7 nights mid September. First beach holiday for more than 2 years due to Covid and then health issues so booked Pestana Alvor Beach as was marketed as a Premium Suite Hotel and cost £2100.00 bed and breakfast for my wife and me. Expectations were high. On arrival I was told I had a free upgrade to a sea view and balcony which I hadn't paid for which having paid over £2000 was a big surprise. On entering the room we walked into a small room with no windows, a bed settee and a pullout bed under. A tv on one wall and an alcove with floor to ceiling shelves. the main bedroom was quite small, two single beds pushed together a bedside table on one side and a small dressing table the other with tea/coffee tray taking up a third of the surface. A small alcove had a hanging rail. there are no draws or cupboards in either room, just shelves in the windowless room and hanging rail in the main bedroom. Balcony was quite large with a sea view but the room above had no balcony and looked out onto our balcony below so not private. Apart from the room the hotel was very nice, spacious, good food (breakfast) nice staff and clean everywhere. there are 3 swimming pools. Another issue was that on checking in I was asked to sign a declaration that I would not reserve sunbeds by the pool. It is not policed, most people reserved their beds. A lot of people in the ground floor rooms had sunbeds outside of their room and reserved beds around the pool too. To summarise, a nice hotel in a great location but should certainly not be marketed as a PREMIUM suite hotel because the rooms are certainly not premium.…
We have been travelling to Pestana for 12 years but this experience will have me thinking before booking again. We were Pestana silver priority customers and booked a premier room with a sea view through Jet 2 as Pestana’s booking system would not accept our booking. On arrival we were given a card for what we thought was the 1st floor but after getting in there was a further flight of stairs were supposed to lug our cases up to get to a further floor up which had no balcony no wardrobe and an open plan bedroom with a bed in the middle of the floor. We would have needed to live out of suitcases. On complaint to the manager he was trying to be helpful and moved us to a room lower down on 1st floor which did have a wardrobe and shelves and a balcony. Problem was the air conditioning didn’t work till repaired that night and it was like a greenhouse in the sun unbearable. The bed base had a stain that looked like blood and we were promised it would be changed but instead cleaners had multiple goes at cleaning it with eventual success after 3 days. Oh did I not mention it cost me an extra €190 for the Priveledge of being moved to this room. On the positive side most of the staff were pleasant and helpful. Fresh fruit at breakfast was lovely and eggs and omelettes were cooked to order. The small fridge in the room was a blessing. Access to 3 pools and sun beds was pleasant but weather for 5 out of the 10 days we stayed was cold and wet. The walks into Alvor along the timber walkway were lovely especially as the sun was setting. Choices of eateries in Alvor is immense and especially Ruccula, Capacho, Green Door and the new Argentinian steak house but value firm money for cheap and cheerful must go to Valentino’s. There were elements of the holiday we did enjoy but the issues with the room definitely sorted the start of our holiday and cost us an extra €190 before we opened a case.…
The staff at Pestana South Beach make the experience very pleasant and relaxed , any requests we mae were dealt with promptly and politely, excellent location for a beach front holiday - very relaxing
We loved our first visit to South Beach. We will definitely be back next year. Pros outweigh the cons, but for me the hotel just missed out on 5 stars for a few small reasons: A few sunbeds were broken and unusable - ok as hotel was quiet but would be an issue at busier times. There were 2-3 mornings that the pool side tables hadn’t been cleared so we arrived to dirty glasses and towels. Some days we were allowed to take glasses and food plates to side of pool and some days we weren’t - totally depending on who served you! One boy insisted it wasn’t allowed and others would bring the drinks down for you. Room cleaning wasn’t great - was basically a change of towels. Bins weren’t always emptied etc. HOWEVER the pros! Super beautiful and modern hotel. Apart from small issues highlighted above it was also very clean in main shared areas. LOVELY staff, everyone was so helpful and friendly. Access to beach is so easy. Views (we had sea and pool view - recommended!) were amazing Breakfast was delicious and loads of choice from cold meats and cheeses to hot food and pastries, yoghurts, porridge etc - as well as range of juices and smoothies Short walk to town. Took 10 min to harbour and 15 max into the centre of town. If you can’t be bothered to walk there’s a great restaurant attached to hotel (by a boardwalk) and lots of choices for lunch along the beach. Initial water and soft drinks in mini bar were free! You only paid if you requested more. Nice touch for arrival. Brilliant shower and bathroom, spacious and good water pressure. Lovely balcony area in our soon (deluxe sea view) which we made good use of. We will 100% come back. Thank you.…
Recently had a holiday in this hotel and the experience was excellent. The hotel is really good and in an excellent location. A two minute walk to an excellent beach and not that busy in October. The hotel is very modern and open plan. Just two levels ground and first floor. We had a ground floor room with terrace, table, two chairs and two sun beds. The food was good. We were on half board but only the breakfast was in the hotel. The evening meal was in a fish restaurant, owned by the hotel, just two minutes away. This was excellent for me. The food was freshly cooked to order and although from a limited menu, there was plenty of choice. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and helpful, they could not do enough for us. Thank you. To get to Alvor town centre you have a couple of options. You can walk on the beach boardwalk which takes about 20 minutes, but not after dark as it's not lit. The alternative is to walk on the well lit road which takes about 10 minutes. Not a problem at all. Overall an excellent experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel and definitely return in the future. Well done and keep up the good work.…
Had a great weeks stay here so relaxing. I love that it’s on the beach so easy to keep popping in and out while exploring Alvor. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was lovely sat outside with the doors all open. My bath didn’t have a plug I mentioned it to the manager. When we got back from our day out they had put one in for me. Grounds are nice and I don’t use the sun beds but always looked to be some available. One waitress stood out I didn’t get her name she has short curly black hair dressed in the striped blouse, always had a smile on her face. Rooms are starting to show a few signs of wear. I would definitely stay again.
Second stay at south beach and won’t be the last. Such a relaxing place. You can always get a good breakfast with something for everyone. Room always cleaned well. Yes you do get odd towel with a hole in and the shower screen dose leak in room 102, needs fix manager. But still gets a 5 from me as the staff are great and overall it’s such a peaceful place to stay.
I could not fault anything at the hotel! Absolutely beautiful & the ground floor pool view rooms are lovely, very comfy beds! The hotel manager was very very accommodating. One of the waitresses was particularly attentive & very welcoming! unfortunately I didn't catch her name but she had short black curly hair, I'd particularly like to thank her as she made the stay even more lovely! I have a Gluten Allergy and she made sure I had something to eat, including breads, cerals ect, they even had Gluten free pasta! Myself & my partner cannot wait to come back!!
