We, family of 5, 2 adults 3 children, stayed for a week at La Guillotière. It ist a most beautiful and well tended place. The hosts are exceptionnal: Ann and Sean (not to mention Bran, the coolest dog in the world) are lovely, helpful and with a very smart sense of humor. The house is a 18th century bulding and we loved it's charm. Very nice pool. We can absolutely recommend it to families! Coffee in the morning is on a common table, where you sit with the other guests - very often Germans, who come here, because they don't need to speek French, as Ann and Sean are Irish. Most of them only stay for one or two nights, as there is a German trip-organiser having La Guillotière in his program (he knows why: quality is guaranteed) We had very nice discussions in the morning and in the evenings at the terrasse - we could even mention the war... The breakfast table changes china every day (!) and the 'menu' is huge, even our 15 year old could'nt eat everything (he tried though). A very special mention goes to Bran, the cuddliest, nicest dog possible - our kids fell in love with him. As a resumee: our children have decided, we had to come back, which is the highest possible compliment.

My Girlfreind and I had one of the most special stays of our trip here. in a stunning and remote setting Anne and Sean made us feel so welcome and at home. We were greeted with a drink on arrival of there local aperitif "Epine", that we drank by the pool . Our room was clean , spacious decorated with style. Anne reccomended and reserved a really nice restaurant only five minutes away! In the morning the breakfast blew me away....Sean had prepared beautiful fresh fruit salad, home made scones and jams, five different types of bread (try the local goats cheese bread....amazing!) pastry and cheese! We were so sad to leave but we hope to return very soon!

On going through our diary to book a couple of weeks in June/July 2012 we noticed this will be our 16th visit to la Guillotiere. Over the years we have had short as well as long visits. Some times two or even three times in a year. We love it, that about says it all. We dont travel far once we are there, the beauty of the walks you can take, the peace of the terrace and of course the pool is wonderful. The addition of the small kitchen helps with light lunches, but after that delicious breakfast its hardly needed. Anne and Sean are wonderful hosts and to sit with them for a drink in the evening, watching the sun go down, well there is nothing better.

La Guillotiere is without a doubt the most beautiful B&B I have ever stayed in. The rooms are big, light, airy, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The breakfast is amazing and the location idyllic. Anne and Sean are the perfect hosts, giving selflessly of their time and their extensive knowledge of the area. Thanks for an amazing holiday :)

My husband and I cannot say enough about La Guillotiere and our lovely hosts, an Irish couple named Anne and Sean. From the moment we turned into their long, tree-lined lane, we knew this would be a peaceful, relaxing haven and the perfect end to our ten-day trip to France.

La Guillotiere is a charming stone house with four spacious en suite bedrooms. Ours was the W.B. Yeates room--large and airy with a comfortable bed and enormous bathroom. The home is immaculately kept, yet comfortable, warm, and friendly---not at all stuffy or pretentious!

Breakfast was taken in the dining room each morning. As the B&B was full each night, we mingled with six other guests over a lavish spread of croissants, pain chocolat, homemade scones with lemon curd, fresh fruit and juice, personal coffee press or tea pot for each guest---all presented beautifully with crisp linens and lovely china.

We spent most of our time visiting local towns and chateaux, but if you choose to keep a more leisurely pace, there's a nice sitting room/library for guests' use, as well as a sparkling swimming pool. We were also encouraged to wander in their gardens and even pick fruit from their trees (the plums were ripe!).

At first, we thought the location might be too out-of-the-way and inconvenient, but we found the town of Esvres to be quite central for our purposes. It was less than 30 minutes to Amboise or Loches, and there were plenty of local restaurants for evening dining within 10-15 minutes' drive. We were also about 30 minutes or less from Tours.

Anne was wonderfully helpful throughout, beginning with her quick replies to our pre-trip inquiries. Upon our arrival, she welcomed us with wine, sparkling water, and a simple snack by the gorgeous swimming pool. Though we arrived on a Sunday, and many restaurants were closed, Anne was able to make a reservation for us at a lovely local restaurant--complete with clear driving directions.

During our two-night stay, Anne and Sean offered a great deal of help to us in planning our out itinerary to Amboise, Chenonceau, and Loches. On our last day, we had a number of unusual circumstances (including needing to return our rental car to the Tours Airport while departing from the St. Pierre-de-la-Corps train station). Anne made arrangements for a taxi to pick us up at the airport and take us to the station. Before departing Esvres, we tried to fill the car at a local gas station, but the pump wouldn't take either of our credit cards. Sean graciously went into town with us, paid with his card, and allowed us to reimburse him with cash. What a timesaver that was!

We stayed here for 1 night in early May at the end of an anniversary trip to the region. The room was lovely, a nice size, comfy bed, and impeccably clean. The 4 rooms are named after authors (ours was Oscar Wilde). The hostess Anne was very welcoming and helpful. It even has an outdoor swimming pool and I was the first guest of the year to venture in, although it was a little cold! Overall highly recommended and extremely good value for money.

We stayed in this B&b for two nights.
The house is fantastic, cozy and surrounded by greenery with a very cool swimming pool.

Our room was clean and comfortable and I can say this place embodies the true spirit of "Bed and Breakfast". The owners, an Irish couple, is really kind and helpful without being intrusive.

Breakfast is very very rich and good!

We stayed with Anne and Sean for a week and as a family of 4, could not have been happier with our choice of where to stay in the Loire valley. Our children, aged 4 and 7 really warmed to both of them and the reviews on trip advisor are spot on for this property. The house is set up very well for guests, the nightly bottle of wine in the lounge was a great way to end our day while our children slept just up the stairs. We all slept in one room which worked fine for us.
Most of the guests are older couples but families should not be deterred, we all felt very at home and waking up to a wonderful breakfast each morning was a great way to start our day.

We can't speak highly enough about La Guillotiere and would concur with all of the positive reviews so far. Sean and Anne are great hosts, the breakfast is delicious, and the house itself and pool area are charming. We stayed for a week in June this year and also had a 1 yr old baby in tow so were looking for somewhere quite relaxed and child friendly. We made good use of the small kitchen and ate some of our evening meals by the pool, which was very enjoyable. We were certainly made to feel very welcome during our entire stay and nothing we asked for was ever too much trouble. If you're looking for top quality guest house, then this certainly ticks all the boxes. We cannot wait to return!

"We had the Yeats room, which was big enough to add a twin for my daughter. It was nice that our bath facility was broken up into two rooms. One held a toilet and sink, the other was a spacious tub/shower/sink room. It worked very well for three of us."
