Helen and John are SO welcoming and friendly. Extremely comfortable suite. Loved the canapes and wine at 6pm and so nice to come back after dinner and find the heating on and the bedside lights on. The breakfasts were AMAZING. Home made bread & croissants and the best bacon and mushroom crepe I have ever tasted. Lily the cat adopted...

Amazing place to stay!! John and Helen are such lovely people that made myself and my partner feel so welcome. Breakfast was Devine! Much nicer than going out for breakfast. Couches are a little dated but didn't matter as everything else was perfect. They have a friendly cat who comes in and out as well which was lovely! Would definitely...

Beautiful B&B in Hanmer Springs. We were looking for a quiet getaway to relax and unwind. The hosts Helen and John were lovely and accommodated our every need. The room was modern and very comfortable and the bed felt like you were sleeping on a cloud. The breakfast was absolutely amazing! Delicious home made breads and pastries are definitely best...

Was the most sublime location. Extremely quiet and private. The hosts were fabulous as were the Devine breakfast. Such a shame the spa bubbles were not working at the time of our visit. A little way out of the town centre not far at all.

We have been spreading the word about Rippinvale Retreat to everyone we have come in contact with since arriving home. Set in very private manicured gardens complete with petanque, tennis court and outdoor spa, this retreat provided us with a much needed relaxing break. Each suite has it's own little private garden courtyard. John was there to great us with...

Such a beautiful, peaceful and private setting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hosts were lovely, made us so welcome and fed us so very well with their delicious breakfast - which was outstanding. The gardens were lovely to wander around and to play a game of petanque and tennis. Sadly the spa wasn't fully operational,...

Absolutely beautiful location in a gorgeous garden at the foot of the mountains, with superb care from lovely hosts. Don't bother looking anywhere else, this is the best. Everything about Rippinvale was delightful. The rooms were sweet, clean, comfortable, and snug. The garden was well-tended and beautiful, with lots of lovely little nooks as well as a spa, tennis court,...

Many thanks to our hosts for a lovely, relaxing weekend. Fresh and wonderfully presented food and a nice long visit from Lily the cat. Recommend this for a weekend! Offer of transport to local restaurant a very welcome gesture and I am sure would be appreciated by lots of guests.

Hamner Springs was our first stop of our South Island trip to celebrate our anniversary and what a great start! Having not slept on our overnight flight we were glad to have chosen to stay at Rippinvale retreat for some much needed r&r. There are only two large rooms, which meant plenty of privacy and the bed was very comfortable....

We were over the top impressed with our stay here. We drove up and felt like we were visiting old friends or family. Breakfast and pre-dinner wine and canapes were amazing. Lovely gardens (even in the middle of drought), nights were super quiet, and most of all exceptional service. Helen and John were fantastic. We definitely plan to arrange another...
