Just returned from Nomi for fall colors. The area is beautiful right now. but Nomi is somewhat of a diamond in the rough. Perhaps it is low season because we found from reservation to arrival that they were understaffed. We had to give a pre arrival time, we had to book dinners and lunches before arrival, and "couple" spa services had to be consecutive as they only had one attendant. The foyer was nice and smelled wonderful, but there was no dedicated front office staff and one was always waiting and looking around for someone whenever you needed something. We got the best room they had, it was wonderfully large with beautiful views and the furnishings were new, bedding/pillows, robes and towels were soft and wonderful. The con's were a lot of dead flys on the floor, some signs of wear already (fraying carpet, melted fridge), a hard bed, the layout was odd with what seemed like the next rooms bathroom fully in our suite and our bathroom was ALL windows so not very private, dated and the vanity was falling off and propped up with what seemed to be a broom handle. AC worked but I think would have struggled in the summer. Had issues watching the tv, it kept saying we were not connected - wifi was sketchy - but were able to watch movies on the ipad they leave in the room though it kept buffering as well. We talked to others that had the "wagjag" room and were told it was horrible, so all in all happy with our room. The price I found was excellent for what you got, mind you do have to pay for everything else. Canoe, bikes, even the firepit at night which we were told would be lit that night for free anyway. The resort is not on the water which was a bit misleading - the lake and canoes are about a five-minute walk down a dirt road with all the paddles and life jackets in tow. The trials are across the road and horribly marked. The trail head is blocked off at the road with a wire across the opening and two signs stating private property and no trespassing. But once you go in about 10 feet you can see the Nomi trail sign hiding behind a tree. After that it is very sketchy which "path" is actually one of the trails. There are two and they don't go to anywhere scenic but if it's a nice day it is a vigorous walk up and down hills. We later learned from a guest; it is best to go down the road by car to pick up the high falls trail outside of Nomi. The "bar/lounge" seemed to be unstaffed. There was no alcohol served at Nomi, so it was BYOB. The restaurant was nicely decorated - a few chairs had seen better days - but all in all nice. The food was mostly very good, but somewhat cold. Besides the steak and fries (which were soooo good), I would definitely say most food was premade and reheated. Brochette was hard as a rock, Ceasar salad good, onion soup cold but good, Indian Channa and mushroom linguine were good but again just warm not hot. The short ribs were very good as was the bread pudding for dessert (and then again for breakfast, dipped in egg and served as "french toast" - not exactly banana/ berry as described on the menu). Omelet good but just warm, eggs and bacon good but homefries barley warm. They have french pressed coffee and wonderful herbal teas. Overall very good food and value, bit more attention to temperature. I can't really say anything about the spa as we tried to book two RMT messages at the same time and could not. I changed one appointment to a non-RMT service but then twice was booked concurrently only to be later changed to consecutive services as they only had one person to attend. We booked way in advance as well. It was suggested the person waiting could use the sauna ...at a price. But decided to just cancel and enjoy the outdoors instead. All in all, we had a good weekend. At check out some things were overcharged on the bill while others were missed - all in all it worked out even but I would check your bill well before you leave as they don't make you sign for anything at the time and gratuities are automatically added in the end. Not sure we would return as I like to try different places but a solid 3.5 stars - 4 star given the amenities of resort and time of year we booked as compared to price.…
