We called here for a light lunch on a Monday afternoon. Excellent, varied menu matched by the service, taste & value for money. Set in warm cosy lounge. Perfect for a lazy hour or so. We must return to sample their dinner menu!

My wife and I spent a most enjoyable long weekend at The Black Swan, making trips into York, Castle Howard and the surrounding countryside over the few days. Although the wind and rain was something of a test and it took just over 6 hours to drive up from London, we were made very welcome as soon as we arrived...

Situated right on the market square of this lovely little market town full of classy shops, galleries and teashops. A great place for a weekend break with good walking and places to visit. The hotel isn't cheap but it manages to be classy without being stuffy or too formal. They claim to be dog friendly and for once you actually...

We are really pleased to hear you had a lovely visit and particularly enjoyed your experience in the restaurant. Thank you for your comment regarding the bathroom, we're aware some need a little attention and are looking to refurbish these shortly. We do hope you will choose to visit us again in the future.

We stopped here for two nights after Searching for quality dog friendly hotels on the web. We were made very welcome from the friendly staff the moment we arrived and our Westie was given a bowl of water and a chew before we even went to our room! Our accommodation was great, as you would expect for the price, with...

Worth every penny, fabulous. Food outstanding the sandwich fillings traditional but with a modern twist. Brilliant that they supply a box to take anything home you can't manage to eat, with 2 scones each you need a big appetite. Staff very friendly, highly recommended.

I won our stay through a competition through StrayFM and never before have I enjoyed a night away so much. Friendly staff, delicious food, beautiful surroundings; I couldn't have asked for more. We enjoyed exploring the picturesque surroundings of Helmsley before settling down to an exquisite champagne afternoon tea which introduced me to pomegranate and passionfruit tea - a new...
