My sister Michelle booked a short break at the Carlton Lodge. What good taste she has. Lovely room on the ground floor so no stairs to cope with after the little tipple we were intending to partake with our evening meal. Had a lovely walk round the shops despite the rain. Beautiful meal in the local Indian Restaurant, but the...

This is one of the most charming B&B's I've ever had the privilege of staying in. From the lovely stone home to the beautiful roses and other flowers gracing the yard, we couldn't have asked for a more picturesque location. The castle ruins are just a short walk from the lodge, as are appealing restaurants, shops, and more. Simply put,...

We stayed for 2 nights (one was a gift voucher the other we payed for). The owners are very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was very good and all locally sourced products. The room was clean and tidy and I thought the Bed was very comfortable althought my husband didn't! Brilliant base for walking holidays or visiting nearby places

We thought the house was beautiful and so lovingly cared for. The breakfast was fabulous, best black pudding ever! Only downside was the cost of our room, we had room 5, private bathroom but not en suite, thought it was a wee bit expensive

Lovely accommodation and comfortable beds, fantastic "YORKSHIRE" breakfast and only a two minute stroll to the market square and pubs / eateries. Made to feel at home by the banter with the owner, would stop there again and highly recommend it.

We are walking the Cleveland way and stayed one night at this very comfortable B&B in Helmsley. Our room was very nice, the bed was great and we had our own private bathroom across the hallway with a massive bathtub and lovely soap, shampoo etc. The breakfast was very good and hosts friendly and welcoming. Helmsley is a really lovely,...

Just returned from a two night walking break in Hemsley. We stayed at the Carlton Lodge and what a great choice. Situated about 300 yards from the main square this is an old imposing house, situated on an elevated position. There is parking at the lodge and also free parking on the road outside. Ideally situated for walking and there...

This is an excellent guest house, first class service with first class facilities. I had a twin room on the ground floor which was generous in size with everything you would expect to find, the room and hotel in generally was exceptionally clean and well presented. The bed was comfy, the area quiet, hot powerful shower and plenty of parking...

Another fantastic stay at The Carlton Lodge, a first class guest house, with very friendly host and hostess, who go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. A fabulous cooked English (sorry, Yorkshire!) breakfast of excellent quality, freshly prepared and piping hot, is served by mine host, Chris, complete with his wry Yorkshire wit! Home from home and...
