Cabau Cala Nova garners praise for its exceptional service, with staff members often receiving accolades for their friendliness and helpfulness. The hotel boasts a prime location close to beaches and the town center, though the presence of steps is something to consider. While rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and views, critiques point to the lack of air conditioning and outdated decor. Cleanliness throughout the hotel is highly regarded, yet the atmosphere is noted to be less impressive due to the dated ambiance. The balconies and views are popular, but the amenities, including a modest pool and lack of microwaves, receive mixed reviews. Opinions on value diverge, with some guests finding prices reasonable and others commenting on the costliness of certain amenities.

This was our second time to the Cala Nova. From check in to check out staff were always helpful and friendly. Again check in was smooth and everything explained to us. We hired a fan for the bedroom which is really nice for the evening and sleeping. There is a shop on sight that has the basic necessities, yea a little dearer perhaps, but at 23:00 hours when you arrive (due to late flight) you can pick up milk and water.

The food is okay, never had a bad snack here at all. Again staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, always smiling, and chatting. Drinks are also a reasonable price. I had Baileys upon our arrival on the first night and it was only six euros, we were paying that in the bars and restaurants anyway.

Rooms are of a good size and always clean and tidy.
The balcony is spacious with a table and chairs. It would be lovely if there was a sun lounger on the balcony as well. The one thing that really irritates is the fact that every morning from 08:30 people would go down and reserve all the sun beds and parasols. They put towels on them and then disappear to either their rooms or to the shops and you don’t see some of them until 11:00 am or noon!! I wouldn’t mind but it’s the British people doing it!!!! I hope that staff will see this and take note, as it really is annoying. Have booked to return yet again next year

Main asset of Cala Nova are the juge balconies where you can enjoy the sun from midday until dawn. Apartments are with very basic kitchen, a living room and a sleeping room. Beware that you need to pay for wifi (25 euros for a week, and the connection is not very stable. Also: avoid shopping in the kiosk where prices are excorbitant (a beer costing 0.60 Euros in the supermarket will set you back 1,.30 here - a rip-off). Staff is friendly. Note that coming down to the town requieres walking on mainy stairs. Not suitable for people with walking problems.

Our first stay at the Cala Nova and we were suitably impressed.
Check in was simple and we were soon in our 5th floor apartment ( total of 8). The apartmrnt is of the standard bathroom, kitchen, dining, living area. One bedroom with double fitted wardrobe and twin beds and then onto a very generously sized balcony with a table and 4 chairs.
All the usual stuff but of a very high standard.
We had maid service on 5 days and regular clean towels and linen.
There is a ramp from the street to a lift or stairs up to the reception and pool area then another lift serves the apartments.
Throughout out stay we found the whole place to be very peaceful and even the bar didn't get too noisy.

Definately book again

We arrived in the dark so couldn’t see much. It had been 18 years since our last visit to Puerto Rico!
Check in was quick and easy, the guy on reception was very friendly and explained everything we needed to know for the night. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room. The whole apartment was clean, comfortable and the shower was amazing. There was hot water all the time regardless of whatever time that you took a shower. The best thing about these apartments are the balconies. They were a very good size, in fact never seen a balcony like this since I went to Madeira. They are overlooking the pool and you can see the sea and beyond. There is a small washing line to dry all your towels and things.
The pool area itself isn’t huge but there was always a sun lounger to had even if you could not get an umbrella. This was a huge bug bear as we would watch people go down to the pool at 8.30 and put towels on loungers and made sure they also grabbed as many umbrellas as they could. Then they would clear off, never to be seen again until four hours later. One family took 8 loungers every morning and four parasols and never used them until well after noon. I have to say it was Brits as well that did it.

All of the staff spoke perfect English and were always happy to stop and have a chat with you, they were also very helpful. Whilst there is no air conditioning we just hired a fan from reception for ten euros, with a ten euro deposit that you got back when you returned the fan, same with the safe key. There is also a lift from the road to reception and then another lift to take you up to whatever floor you are on.
Would I stay here again……the answer to that is YES! We
enjoyed it that much and the apartments are literally a ten minute walk to the beach and a short stroll to the Puerto Rico Centre.

We stayed for 2 weeks over peak time and couldn’t fault the staff or services provided within the hotel so we’ve booked to come back July 2020 already! We were always greeted with a smile when we came downstairs and the staff were more than happy to sit and have a chat. Gloria, Paula, Xabi and all the other staff were amazing and we cannot fault them what so ever. The only down side of the hotel, if any, was that there is no air conditioning but fans are available to hire which helped a lot, along with the balcony doors being open at night. There was no need to go to the centre for entertainment as it was great at the hotel, thanks to Xabi doing quizzes and bingo etc. The snacks provided at the bar and supermarket were lovely but slightly expensive however more convenient if you don’t want to go out or leave the hotel. Massive thankyou to Gloria for going out and getting the John Smiths and Paula for getting me the pencil case with my name on!
We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
PS - don’t forget the John Smith’s😂

We have stayed at the Cala Nova many times and have never been disappointed. Clean rooms regularly visited by the daily domestic team who left no stone unturned, huge balconies so that you can stay in your room if you don’t fancy sunning yourself by the excellent pool, Friendly and helpful staff and Good value menu. Lifts to all floors were excellent.

And a resident kitty cat to bring a purr to any faces.

Having stayed here before on several occasions , It was an easy choice to rebook Cala Nova for our break.
Rooms are spacious and clean, beds although a bit firm were comfortable, Maid service most days, really could not fault this.. It is up on a hill but we found it easy to follow pathways and avoid most of the steps. Pool area is kept spotless plenty of sunbeds if you wanted one, Found some people up early reserving beds with towels.
Sunshine on balcony around mid day through to sunset, can get very hot so watch and don't burn..Plenty to do in puerto rico, The new Mogan Mall is a lovely experience. We won't hesitate to visit again.

I am presently staying at the cala nova hotel. On the whole everything is perfect, lovely accommodation, staff friendly. My main gripe is the abuse of sun bed use, people putting towels on 6 beds then not using them for the whole day. I think the staff need to be proactive with this and remove towels after a limited period of time, so that all guests get to use pool facilities.

Today beds were put out at 9.00 and now at 11.20 the same beds are empty.

This is the only downside to this hotel.

Stayed here quite a few times as we love the location. Nice walk to beach near the commercial centre. Nice clean apartments good friendly staff good size balcony great views . Only downside is the cost for late check out. The shower room downstairs very basic very small shower and definitely needs a lock on the door . But we will definitely be staying again .

Just back from 2 weeks here. Had a lovely pleasant stay. Apartments nice and clean, balconies very big. There is WiFi throughout which only found out about after about 4 days. Would have been much better if there was a microwave, but maybe because only one plug near foor in kitchen area so had to keep the kettle on the floor. Room was cleaned most days which was great.
Big downside was the sunbed problem. They were unlocked about 8.45 and there was always a queue, all towels put on but no sight of anyone on lots of them till much later. A tip though, a lot of people are not aware there are some sunbeds round a corner in the solarium area (ground floor) so you might be lucky and find one there.
Oh and location was excellent, 5 minutes to beach or 5 minutes to commercial centre.

Yes there is a lift that goes to all levels. May be best to ask for low floor in case of lift being out of order.
